Michigan's 15th congressional district

734 is an area code in the North American Numbering Plan. Created in 1997, it covers southern portions of southeast Michigan, including all of Washtenaw and Monroe counties, and southern and western portions of Wayne County. This area includes Ann Arbor, Ypsilanti, Saline, Chelsea, Milan, Belleville, Garden City, Wayne, Westland, Livonia, Canton, Pinckney, Plymouth, Plymouth Township, Monroe, Petersburg, Bedford, Romulus, Huron Township and the remainder of Downriver south of a border formed by Goddard Road in Taylor and the northern borders of the cities of Southgate and Wyandotte. Area code 734 also covers the west side of the city of Inkster. Area code 734 drew publicity after the release of the Juice WRLD song "734". This area had been historically served by area code 313, which today only applies to Detroit and its closest suburbs.

Michigan's 16th congressional district is an obsolete United States congressional district in Michigan. It covered the communities of Dearborn, Downriver and Monroe County.The first Representative to Congress elected from the 16th district, John Lesinski, Sr., took office in 1933, after reapportionment due to the 1930 census. The district was dissolved following the 2000 census. The last Representative elected from the district, John Dingell, was subsequently elected from the 15th district. The only other Representative elected from the 16th district in its 70 years of existence was John Lesinski, Jr. It could be called a Polish district, because all three district's representatives were Polish-Americans.

Maybee ( may-BEE) is a village in Monroe County in the U.S. state of Michigan. The population was 545 at the 2020 census. The village is located within Exeter Township. Maybee was established in 1873 and incorporated as a village in 1899.

Scofield ( SKOH-field) is an unincorporated community in Monroe County in the U.S. state of Michigan. The community is located within Exeter Township. As an unincorporated community, Scofield has no legally defined boundaries or population statistics of its own.

Raisinville Township is a civil township of Monroe County in the U.S. state of Michigan. The population was 5,903 at the 2020 census.

The Bridge School is a former school building located in rural Raisinville Township in the U.S. state of Michigan. It is recognized as the first public school in the Territory of Michigan when it was founded in 1828. The school district closed in 1946, and the building has served as Raisinville Township Hall since 1982. The Bridge School was listed as a Michigan State Historic Site on December 17, 1987.

Comair Flight 3272 was a Comair flight from Cincinnati,USA to Detroit on Thursday, January 9, 1997. While on approach for landing, the Embraer EMB 120 Brasilia aircraft crashed nose-down 18 miles (29 km) southwest of Detroit Metropolitan Wayne County Airport at 15:54 EST. All 29 aboard, 26 passengers and three crew members, were killed.The cause of the crash was determined to be inadequate and out of date flight crew procedures for icing conditions. Some of these originated with the Federal Aviation Administration's failure to specify suitable minimum airspeeds for icing conditions, while some were Comair procedure manual defects, including superseded instructions on the use of de-icing boots that did not follow the aircraft manufacturer's instructions.

The Navarre–Anderson Trading Post is a former trading post complex located at 3775 North Custer Road in Frenchtown Charter Township along the River Raisin in Monroe County, Michigan. It was listed as a Michigan Historic Site on June 16, 1972 and also listed on the National Register of Historic Places on July 31, 1972.The main building on the complex dates back to 1789, and is claimed to be the oldest surviving wooden residential building in the state. However, architectural analyses of the Biddle and McGulpin houses on Mackinac Island indicate they could date back as far as 1780. The Navarre–Anderson complex was established by the early French settlers Francois Navarre and John Anderson, who were among the first to settle the area of present-day Monroe. In addition to the main building, which also served as a house, the cookhouse building was built in 1810. The original barn is no longer standing, but a 1790s replica was built on the complex.The complex was originally located several miles downstream in the present-day Old Village Historic District. When advancing development threatened this historical complex, it was moved in 1894 and again in 1971. The complex was restored back to its appearance from what it looked like 1799. Today, the complex is owned by the Monroe County Historical Museum and is open to the public for special events and group tours.

The county was established as the second county (after Wayne County) in the Michigan Territory in 1817 and was named for then-President James Monroe.Monroe County is coterminous with the Monroe, MI metropolitan statistical area.

The Monroe County Intermediate School District (commonly abbreviated as the Monroe County ISD or MCISD) is an intermediate school district that provides educational services throughout Monroe County, Michigan. The ISD provides numerous services to all nine of Monroe County's public schools, as well as two public charter schools and 15 private schools. The ISD also provides educational services for juvenile delinquents and works with other government agencies, charitable organizations (such as United Way), Monroe County Community College, and the county's library system.While the Monroe County ISD serves all schools in Monroe County, its boundary is not conterminous with Monroe County and follows the district lines drawn by the county's public schools. Certain portions of Monroe County, especially those in the northern portions near Milan, Flat Rock, and South Rockwood, are within the boundaries of schools in Wayne County and are incorporated into the Wayne County RESA. Not all students in Monroe County attend a school in Monroe County and therefore are not under the ISD's jurisdiction. At the same time, the ISD provides services for those out-of-county students who attend schools in Monroe County — most notably Whiteford Agricultural Schools and Airport Community Schools, who have boundaries extending into neighboring counties.
