The Patriarca Square (Portuguese: Praça do Patriarca) is located in the Sé district, in the historic center of the Brazilian city of São Paulo. It was inaugurated without a name in the 1910s and remained so until 1922, the year of the centenary of Brazil's Independence, when it was renamed Patriarca José Bonifácio Square; in the 1950s it was shortened to Patriarca Square.The place connects to important points in the city center, such as: Anhangabaú Valley, Viaduto do Chá, and Líbero Badaró, Direita, São Bento, Quitanda and 15 de Novembro Streets. The area is home to the Othon Palace Hotel and the Barão de Iguape and Sampaio Moreira buildings. The Church of Saint Anthony, which is considered to be the oldest church in the center, is in the square.

Vale do Anhangabaú (Anhangabaú Valley) is a region in the city center of São Paulo, located between the viaducts do Chá and Santa Ifigênia. It is a public space commonly characterized as park, where events have traditionally been organized, such as public demonstrations, political rallies, presentations and popular shows. It is considered the point that separates the Old City Center from the New City Center.Currently, the 43 thousand square meters of the Anhangabaú Valley are used as a crossing point for people wishing to transit between the east and west regions of the Center, and can be defined as an extensive boardwalk under a road junction. The space also interconnects with other squares in the central area, such as Praça Ramos de Azevedo, juxtaposed with the Valley, Largo de São Bento, through the steps of the Metro and Praça da Bandeira, which currently houses a bus station.With gardens, works of art and three fountains, Vale do Anhangabaú is today a postcard of the City Center of São Paulo, from where it is possible to glimpse buildings such as the Martinelli, Altino Arantes, Teatro Municipal, and the Matarazzo Building, headquarters of city hall. The space also acts as a stage for Virada Cultural, a traditional event in São Paulo that promotes shows and cultural activities throughout the city. Due to its wide dimension, the Valley is considered an adequate space for large public meetings and was even the stage for the largest Brazilian public rally, in the Diretas Já demonstrations, organized on April 16, 1984, when it was received about 1.5 million people. In addition to being in a region that houses all the places mentioned above, the Vale do Anhangabaú is also located near the Dramatic and Musical Conservatory of São Paulo, which is called the School of Dance of São Paulo, also known as the School of Dance of the Municipal Theater of São Paulo (EDTMSP). Basically, it is a university campus that concentrates classes on public dance in the city.

Barão de Iguape Building is a skyscraper in the older area of downtown São Paulo, Brazil, 133 metres (436 ft) in height with 37 floors, located on Patriarca square on the corner of Direita and Quitanda streets. Its construction was completed in 1959.The building was for years the headquarters of a bank, Unibanco, but this was transferred to another building on the Marginal Pinheiros expressway, next to Eusébio Matoso bridge in the southwestern neighborhood of Pinheiros.

The Prestes Maia Gallery (Portuguese: Galeria Prestes Maia) is an artistic and cultural space located in the city of São Paulo that has an underground connection between Patriarca Square and Anhangabaú Valley, with an exit under the Viaduto do Chá. In 1955, the first public escalators in the city were inaugurated in the gallery's passageway.

Igreja de Santo Antônio is a church located in São Paulo, Brazil. Established in 1592, the current church was completed between 1899 and 1919.

Othon Palace Hotel is located in the historic center of the Brazilian city of São Paulo. Founded by Othon Lynch Bezerra de Mello in 1954, it was part of a hotel network with units in São Paulo, Rio de Janeiro, Belo Horizonte and five other countries (United States, France, Portugal, Argentina and Peru).

The Martinelli Building (in Portuguese: Edifício Martinelli), with 28 floors, is the first skyscraper built in Brazil. Located in São Paulo, it is 105 meters tall. The building was planned in 1922 by the Italian-born entrepreneur, Giuseppe Martinelli. Construction began in 1924, and was completed in 1929. At the time of its opening, it was the tallest building in Latin America, and the largest concrete-framed building in the world.The building was completely remodeled by Mayor Olavo Setúbal from 1975 to 1979. Today, the building houses the Departments of Municipal Housing and planning, companies Emurb and Cohab-SP, the headquarters of the Association of Banks of SP, and several shops on the ground floor of the building.

Viaduto do Chá ("Tea Viaduct") is a viaduct of São Paulo, Brazil. It was the first viaduct built in the city, and was instigated by Jules Martin, a French immigrant to the city. The 240-metre (790 ft) span crosses the Vale do Anhangabaú. Originally conceived in 1877, construction started in 1888 before being stopped one month later by a court case brought by local residents. Construction resumed in 1889, and the iron bridge was completed in 1892. The original viaduct was replaced in 1938 with a new concrete span. It often appears in TV interviews, as well as films and telenovelas set in São Paulo.

The Banco do Brasil Cultural Center (Portuguese: Centro Cultural Banco do Brasil) in São Paulo, also known as CCBB São Paulo, opened on April 21, 2001. It is located in Álvares Penteado Street, in the historic center of São Paulo, and can be accessed by metro from São Bento Station. Currently, the streets around the building are pedestrian-only.In 1923, Banco do Brasil bought the old building, built in 1901, and hired Hippolyto Gustavo Pujol Junior, an engineer-architect, to convert it into a five-storey bank branch, which operated from 1927 until 1996. It was the bank's first building in São Paulo. Elements of the original architecture were restored to preserve the features that made the building one of the most significant examples in the city.The headquarters covers 4,183 square meters and includes exhibition halls, a cinema, a theater, an auditorium, a restaurant, a shop and a coffee shop. According to The Art Newspaper's ranking, it is the fifth most visited cultural institution in the country and 69th in the world.

Matarazzo Building (Portuguese: Edifício Matarazzo), also known as Palácio do Anhangabaú (Anhangabaú Palace) is the city hall of the city of São Paulo, Brazil. It belonged to Banespa until 2004, when it was sold to the city government. It was designed by Italian architect Marcello Piacentini under the will of Ermelino Matarazzo, in order to host the headquarters of his industries. The building's architectural style looks like Art Deco. According to the deal made with Banespa, the building would be given to the city government as part of the debt of 885 million reais (some 466 million dollars) that the extinct CMTC had with the bank. The city would then owe 156 million reais, to be paid in four years.

The Ramos de Azevedo Square (Portuguese: Praça Ramos de Azevedo) is located in the República district, in the center of the Brazilian city of São Paulo, and is famous for being home to the Municipal Theater. It was created in 1911, after the theater's inauguration, under the name Esplanada do Theatro. It was renamed in 1928, after the death of the architect Ramos de Azevedo.The square, located in the space between Conselheiro Crispiniano Street and Formosa Street, under the Viaduto do Chá and next to the Alexandre Mackenzie Building, forms a well-known postcard of the city.
