Norfolk County was a county of the South Hampton Roads in eastern Virginia in the United States that was created in 1691. After the American Civil War, for a period of about 100 years, portions of Norfolk County were lost and the territory of the county reduced as they were annexed by the independent and growing cities of Norfolk, Portsmouth and South Norfolk. In 1963, voters approved by referendum in two jurisdictions to consolidate the remaining portions of Norfolk County with the much smaller city of South Norfolk; they chose the name city of Chesapeake for the new independent city. Although organized as a city, and one of the larger in Virginia, Chesapeake has both busy suburban and industrial areas, and mostly rural sections. The latter includes a large portion of the Great Dismal Swamp and large tracts of preserved forest land.

Hampton Roads Executive Airport (ICAO: KPVG, FAA LID: PVG) is a public-use airport seven miles (11 km) southwest of Norfolk and northwest of Chesapeake, Virginia. It is privately owned by Virginia Aviation Associates, L.L.C. Most U.S. airports use the same three-letter location identifier for the FAA and IATA, but Hampton Roads Executive Airport is PVG to the FAA and has no IATA code (IATA assigned PVG to Shanghai Pudong International Airport in China).

Sunray Agricultural Historic District is a national historic district located at Chesapeake, Virginia. The district encompasses 188 contributing buildings, 90 contributing sites, 2 contributing structures, and 1 contributing object in the early 20th-century immigrant farming community of Sunray. It includes early 20th century vernacular farmhouses, agricultural buildings, Sunray School (1922), and St. Mary's Catholic Church (1915-1916). The district also includes a tidal ditch system, the abandoned Virginian Railway Tracks (1909), and agricultural fields laid out with the platting of 1908.

The Bowers Hill interchange is a large interchange complex where the Hampton Roads Beltway intersects with Interstate 264 (I-264) as well as Military Highway, which carries the three U.S. Highways. It is named for the unincorporated community surrounding it, Bowers Hill, Virginia, which itself is a part of the independent city of Chesapeake.

Bower's Hill is a community located in the independent city of Chesapeake, Virginia (formerly Norfolk County) in the United States. It is located in the South Hampton Roads region at the northeastern edge of the Great Dismal Swamp, an area consisting of generally low-lying sandy terrain of the coastal plain. Popular legend has that it was named for an early highway overpass on the Military Highway which was built around 1943. However, maps dating from the early 19th century show a place named "Bower's Hill". Other information in archives at the Library of Virginia also dates the name to a time long prior to the construction of the Military Highway. In any event, the area now justifies its name with an elaborate interchange of overpasses at the juncture of three Interstate highways and three arterial (U.S.) highways. Bower's Hill is also the possible location of a future high-speed rail passenger station.

WVEC (channel 13) is a television station licensed to Hampton, Virginia, United States, serving the Hampton Roads area as an affiliate of ABC. The station is owned by Tegna Inc., and maintains studios on Woodis Avenue in Norfolk; its transmitter is located in Suffolk, Virginia.

Nansemond River High School is a public secondary school in Suffolk, Virginia, United States. It opened in September 1990 and originally consisted of students from two of the three former high schools of Suffolk, now middle schools, John F. Kennedy Middle School and John Yeates Middle School. Nansemond River opened its doors to approximately 1700 students. The student population swelled to nearly 2000 students in 2003, and in 2004, a new high school, King's Fork, was formed. As a result, Nansemond River's population dropped in the 2004-2005 school year to about 1100 students. However, the following year, the school opened its doors to about 1200 students once again. The current principal is Dr. Shawn Green, and the assistant principals, or administrators, are Tina Paul, Kimberly Warholak, and Darrell Medley. The dean of students is Stevie Green. Because of rezoning in 2004, the school district is composed of the rapidly suburbanizing Northeastern corner of the city, comprising the neighborhoods from Harbour View, Bennett's Creek, and the Driver areas, as well as other well-established communities such as Pughsville, Huntersville, and Belleville.

Club Lake Ahoy was a water park situated within a man-made lake in Chesapeake, Virginia, United States. Attractions included metal towers with high dive platforms and zip-line rides over 20 feet (6.1 m) high. The water park has since been acquired by the City of Chesapeake and is under review for redevelopment as a city park.

Glebe Church (also known as Bennett's Creek Church) is a historic Anglican church in Driver, Virginia and its surrounding glebe. The church was built in 1737–1738, and is a rectangular, gable-roofed, brick church measuring 48 feet, 6 inches, by 25 feet, 4 inches. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1973.

Driver is a neighborhood in the independent city of Suffolk, Virginia, United States. It is located at the junction of State Route 337, State Route 125, and State Route 627. Originally named Persimmon Orchard, Driver was once located on the now-abandoned Atlantic Coast Line Railroad's line in the former Nansemond County between the former town of Suffolk and the City of Portsmouth, which was itself was located in the former Norfolk County. Through traffic in Driver formerly used the now closed Kings Highway Bridge to cross the Nansemond River on State Route 125, known as the "Kings Highway." The swing bridge, opened in 1928, was deemed unsafe and closed to traffic in March 2005 by the Virginia Department of Transportation. In modern times, as the Hampton Roads area has become largely urbanized all around it, it has been said that Driver is a town "suspended in time." Driver is known in Suffolk for its Driver Variety Store, which is styled as an old time general store, and its annual Driver Days festival.

Driver Historic District is a national historic district located at Suffolk, Virginia. The district encompasses 20 contributing buildings in the crossroads community of Driver in Suffolk. The district includes eight residences, two churches, two school structures, a lodge, an outbuilding, and five commercial structures. They are in a variety of popular 19th and early-20th century architectural styles including Federal, Queen Anne, and Colonial Revival. Notable buildings include the Parker House (1820-1840), Norfolk and Carolina Railroad depot and station master's house (c. 1890), Brannon House (c. 1892), Arthur's Store (c. 1925), Randy's Rods, Driver Variety Store, Beech Grove United Methodist Church, Berea Congregational Christian Church (c. 1891), Dejarnette High School (1926), and Harmony Lodge #149 (1938).It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1995.
