Panther Falls is the first of two waterfalls on the Angel Falls Trail in Rabun County, Georgia. The second waterfall on the trail is Angel Falls. The falls are each about 50' in height on Joe Branch Creek. The trail begins at the Rabun Beach Camping Area #2 and is a moderately strenuous 0.5 mile hike to Panther Falls with Angel Falls and additional 0.5 mile.

Lake Burton is a 2,775 acres (11.23 km2) reservoir with 62 miles (100 km) of shoreline located in the northeastern corner of Georgia in Rabun County. The lake is owned and administered by the Georgia Power/Southern Company, but it is a public lake. Noted for the remarkable clarity of its water and surrounded by the biodiverse ecosystem of the Blue Ridge Mountains, the lake celebrated its centennial in 2020.

Glassy Mountain is a mountain in the Chattahoochee National Forest in Rabun County, Georgia, with its USGS GNIS summit at 34°50′44″N 83°30′02″W, which is 3,415 feet (1,041 m) AMSL. It is bypassed on its northern flank by a major two-lane highway that carries U.S. Route 76 and Georgia State Route 2 east and west. It is also the location of NOAA Weather Radio station KXI81, which serves nearby Clayton, Georgia (to the east-northeast), Lake Burton (to the west and southwest), and adjacent areas of northeast Georgia, upstate South Carolina, and western North Carolina. A radio tower and a fire lookout tower are both located atop the mountain. In 1888, Glassy Mountain was owned by John Ferguson, whose grandfather had built a homestead there before the American Revolutionary War.

The town of Burton, Georgia now lies underwater, covered by Lake Burton. The town was located at the confluence of Dicks Creek and the Tallulah River in Rabun County, Georgia and was established in the first half of the 19th century as a result of the Georgia Gold Rush. The first discovery of gold in Rabun County was just north of Burton, at the confluence of Moccasin Creek and the Tallulah River. The town was named after Jeremiah Burton, who owned the post office and general store there. The Burton Post Office was established in 1875 and discontinued in 1916.Burton was located along the road from Clayton, Georgia to the Nacoochee Valley and became more than just a gold rush town – it served the corundum mines of Tate City. Eventually, the logging industry built a railway to the town so that lumber from the mountains could be transported to the mill in Helen, Georgia. By the early 20th century, the town of Burton had a population of approximately 200, making it the second largest town in Rabun County. In 1917, the Georgia Railway and Electric Company (predecessor of the Georgia Power Company) purchased the town of Burton and the surrounding homesteads. The dam for Lake Burton was closed on December 22, 1919, and before long the town was submerged.

Lakemont has a post office with ZIP code 30552.A post office named Lakemont was established in 1914. The community was so named on account of its elevated location near Lake Rabun.

Lake Burton Fish Hatchery is a fish hatchery operated by the Wildlife Resources Division of the Georgia Department of Natural Resources for the purpose of raising rainbow trout and brown trout being raised for stocking into mountain trout streams in North Georgia, United States. The hatchery located on the shores of Lake Burton in Rabun County, Georgia next to Moccasin Creek and adjacent to Moccasin Creek State Park. It is on Georgia State Route 197 approximately 20 miles north of Clarkesville, Georgia. The hatchery offers tours during its hours of operation. The short section of Moccasin Creek between the hatchery and Lake Burton is only open to anglers under 12 years of age.

Moccasin Creek State Park is a 32-acre (13 ha) state park located on the western shore of Lake Burton in Rabun County in the northeast corner of Georgia. The park features campgrounds; a fishing pier for the physically disabled, the elderly, and children; and walking trails. Even though the surrounding area is mountainous, the camping area is relatively flat.

Acoa, in Habersham County, Georgia, near Hollywood, Georgia, was built in 1834. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1982. The listing included three contributing buildings.It was deemed significant as a plain but fine example of a Greek Revival-style antebellum country house of Northern Georgia.It is located about five miles northeast of Clarkesville, Georgia, on a mill pond. A nineteenth-century gabled-roofed, fieldstone smokehouse and a twentieth-century workshop, with the latter on the site of a nineteenth-century detached kitchen. The mill pond is southwest of the house and has an early-1900s masonry-and-concrete dam. There are stone foundation ruins of an mill there.It may be located on what is now Boyd Wood Road. It was the childhood home of Clelia Peronneau Mathewes McGowan, who was the first woman to hold public office in South Carolina.Its historic documentation states it is located on Mathis (Mathewes) Rd. east of the old Tallulah Falls Highway, near Hollywood.
