Hill is a town in Merrimack County, New Hampshire, United States. The population was 1,017 at the 2020 census. It is home to William Thomas State Forest.

The Franklin Falls Dam is located on the Pemigewasset River in the city of Franklin, New Hampshire, in the United States. The dam was constructed between 1939 and 1943 by the Army Corps of Engineers and extends for 0.75 miles (1.21 km) across the river. During its construction, the neighboring residents of the town of Hill were forced to relocate to higher ground due to rising water levels created by the dam. The reservoir formed by the dam has a permanent pool covering 440 acres (180 ha), and the total flood storage capacity is 2,800 acres (1,100 ha). The total area of the project, including surrounding managed lands, is 3,683 acres (1,490 ha). The stretch of the Pemigewasset River potentially impounded by the dam extends 12.5 miles (20 km) north to Ayers Island Dam in the town of Bristol, and the watershed flowing to the dam extends north all the way into the White Mountains. The Franklin Falls Reservoir hosts a variety of recreational activities, including hiking, mountain biking, fishing, kayaking, hunting, snowshoeing and Disc Golf.

Webster Lake is a 606-acre (2.45 km2) water body in West Franklin, a village of Franklin in Merrimack County in the central portion of the U.S. state of New Hampshire. Water from Webster Lake flows to the Pemigewasset River shortly above its confluence with the Winnipesaukee River to form the Merrimack. Webster Lake has two public beaches operated by the city of Franklin, one on either side of the lake. Webster Lake is surrounded by forests, and roads follow most of the lakeshore, allowing frequent views. There is boating access adjacent to Lagace Beach on New Hampshire Route 11. The lake is classified as a warmwater fishery, with observed species including rainbow trout, brown trout, smallmouth and largemouth bass, chain pickerel, horned pout, and white perch.

WFTN-FM (Mix 94.1 FM) is a radio station based in central New Hampshire which airs a CHR music format. Broadcasting with 6,000 watts from Calef Hill in Tilton, the station's signal is perfectly situated to cover Central New Hampshire, including the cities of Laconia, Concord, and Franklin and nearby communities. Mix 94.1 FM is the heritage CHR in both the Lake Winnipesaukee Region and Concord areas, being one of the few stations in New Hampshire staffed with live and local air personalities during the day. The station is owned by Northeast Communications, a local broadcasting company owned by Jeff Fisher. Sister stations to WFTN-FM are WFTN (AM), WPNH AM–FM, and WSCY. WFTN-FM signed on the air in 1987 as an adult contemporary station, "94 FM". Over the years, the station evolved into a CHR station. Longtime Mix 94.1 air personalities include Fred Caruso and news director Amy Bates, Tara Madison, "Mower", Pat Kelly, and weekends with Gary Ford and Gavin Martin. Mix 94.1 FM is the local affiliate for Liveline with Mason Kelter on weeknights and Open House Party which they have carried on weekends since 1990. The station streams its signal over the internet, as of December 2022.

The Sanbornton Square Historic District encompasses the historic center of Sanbornton, New Hampshire. The town, granted in 1748 and incorporated in 1777, is the mother town of Franklin and Tilton, and was one of the first to be established by the Masonian proprietors. Unlike towns settled earlier, no specific plan was made for a town center, with the result that Sanbornton Square arose organically as the principal site of civic and religious life in the town. The district was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1980.The historic district is centered on a stretch of New Hampshire Route 132, between Tower Hill Road and Gulf Road, and radiates for a short distance along a number of secondary roads that meet there. Its western bound is roughly Gulf Brook. The oldest surviving element of the original town is the old cemetery, which lies at the northern end of the district. The present church and town hall both date to c. 1834. These two buildings, along with the 1825 Woodman Sanbornton Academy building, are the major civic structures in the district. The rest of the district is residential, with a number of houses dating to the late 18th century, and most of the remaining buildings dating to the first half of the 19th century. Federal and Greek Revival styling predominate in the district; most of these buildings are wood-frame structures with clapboard siding.

Sanbornton is a town in Belknap County, New Hampshire, United States. The population was 3,026 at the 2020 census. It includes the villages of North Sanbornton and Gaza.

Franklin is a city in Merrimack County, New Hampshire, United States. At the 2020 census, the population was 8,741, the least of New Hampshire's 13 cities. Franklin includes the village of West Franklin.

The Concord Historic District encompasses the least altered portion of the historic heart of Concord, New Hampshire. The 25-acre (10 ha) district, located just north of the modern commercial and civic heart of the city, includes the city's oldest surviving house, the site of its first religious meetinghouse, and the Pierce Manse, a historic house museum that was home to President Franklin Pierce during his rise to national prominence. The district was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1975.The original heart of Concord was platted out in 1726, on a terrace above the floodplains on the western banks of the Merrimack River. The lots, about 1.5 acres (0.61 ha) in size, were arrayed in the vicinity of Horseshoe Pond, and it is the earliest of these that make up the district. The area is characterized by a uniformity of setting, despite a diversity in architectural style, in part because most of the buildings are similarly-sized dwellings set on equal-sized lots. Larger buildings, including a church, school, and professional offices, stand on larger lots.The oldest surviving house, that of Reverend Timothy Walker, was built in 1735. It was also the first house in the area to be garrisoned (fortified and surrounded by a palisade) against Native attacks. The district was also home to Concord's first meeting house (no longer extant). The residential structures in the district represent the variety of architectural styles popular during the 19th century, including the fine Greek Revival Pierce Manse, a Victorian Gothic cottage at 278 North Main Street, and the late Gothic brick house at 266 North Main Street. There are only a few buildings in the district built after the 1920s, among them the Lutheran church.

The Sulphite Railroad Bridge, also known locally as the Upside-Down Covered Bridge is a historic railroad bridge in Franklin, New Hampshire. The bridge was built circa 1896-7 to carry the tracks of the Boston and Maine Railroad across the Winnipesaukee River between Franklin and Tilton. The bridge is believed to be the only surviving "upside down" covered railroad bridge in the United States, in which the rail bed is laid on top of the bridge roof, whose purpose is to shelter the trusses below. The bridge was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1975. The bridge, unused since 1973, is not in good condition, having been subjected to graffiti, vandalism, and arson, as well as the elements.

William Thomas State Forest is a 1,660-acre (670 ha) state forest in the town of Hill, New Hampshire, in the United States. It is named for Harvard University class of 1945 graduate and B-24 Liberator pilot William H. Thomas Jr. who used his discharge pay to acquire 60 wooded acres and subsequently expanded his holdings to about 1,700. He had visions of a resort development, but retreated to the area in 1987 and donated the lands to the state of New Hanpshire when he died in 2001. The area reportedly has some double track but no single track trails.

Franklin High School is located in Franklin, New Hampshire, United States. Franklin is known in the area for its football, softball and baseball teams. Their main sports rival is Winnisquam Regional High School in the neighboring town of Tilton.

The Smith River is a 25.0-mile-long (40.2 km) river located in central New Hampshire in the United States. It is a tributary of the Pemigewasset River, part of the Merrimack River watershed. The Smith River begins at the outlet of Tewksbury Pond in Grafton, New Hampshire. The river flows southwest and then southeast through Grafton, passing through Kilton Pond. Continuing through Danbury, the river remains generally flat until shortly before reaching the Alexandria-Hill town line, where it enters a narrow valley and produces several miles of whitewater. Passing under the New Hampshire Route 3A bridge at the Bristol-Hill town line, the Smith River drops over Profile Falls and arrives at the Pemigewasset River. U.S. Route 4 follows the Smith River from its source to Danbury. NH-104 follows the river from Danbury to the east side of Alexandria.
