The Old Town Hall is a municipal building in the Market Place in Faringdon, Oxfordshire, England. The building, which is used as an exhibitions and events venue, is a Grade II* listed building.

Faringdon is a historic market town in the Vale of White Horse, Oxfordshire, England, 18 miles (29 km) south-west of Oxford, 10 miles (16 km) north-west of Wantage and 12 miles (19 km) east-north-east of Swindon. It extends to the River Thames in the north; the highest ground is on the Ridgeway in the south. Faringdon was Berkshire's westernmost town until the 1974 boundary changes transferred its administration to Oxfordshire. The civil parish is formally known as Great Faringdon, to distinguish it from Little Faringdon in West Oxfordshire. The 2011 Census gave a population of 7,121; it was estimated at 7,992 in 2019. On 1 February 2004, Faringdon became the first place in south-east England to be awarded Fairtrade Town status.

Longworth Hospital was a 50 bedded geriatric hospital in Faringdon Oxfordshire, England. It was administered by the Littlemore and Isis hospital management committees, and then from 1974 by Oxfordshire Area Health Authority.From December 1980 to February 1981 it was occupied by the staff, principally members of COHSE resisting the closure of the hospital.

Faringdon Abbey was a Cistercian abbey located at Wyke just north of the small town of Faringdon in the English county of Berkshire (now Oxfordshire). The Royal manor of Faringdon was given to the Cistercian monks by King John in 1203 for the founding of an abbey. It was built at Wyke, a lost placename that was located just north of the town between the Radcot Road and Grove Wood. It was almost certainly never finished, for the abbey moved to Beaulieu in the New Forest in the following year. Faringdon, however, remained under the monks' control and the abbey site became one of their monastic granges.

Arturo Barea Ogazón (20 September 1897 – 24 December 1957) was a Spanish journalist, broadcaster and writer. After the Spanish Civil War, Barea left with his wife Ilsa Barea to live in exile in England where he died.

Faringdon House is a Grade I listed 14,510 square feet house in Faringdon, Oxfordshire, England. It was built in about 1770–1785 for the Poet Laureate Sir Henry James Pye.It became the country home of Lord Berners, who inherited it in 1918. He moved to Faringdon House in 1931, along with his companion, Robert Heber-Percy, nearly 30 years his junior and known as the Mad Boy. In 1942, Heber-Percy married Jennifer Ross, the only child of Sir Geoffrey Fry, 1st Baronet, and they had a daughter, Victoria, although the ménage à trois lasted only two years before Jennifer and their daughter moved to her parents' home, Oare House in Wiltshire.Berners was notorious for his eccentricity, dyeing pigeons at Faringdon in vibrant colours and at one point entertaining Penelope Betjeman's horse Moti to tea. There were paper flowers in the garden and the interior of the house was adorned with joke books and joke notices, such as "Mangling Done Here". Lord Berners died in 1950, and Heber-Percy inherited the house.In 2014 it was owned by the writer Sofka Zinovieff, the granddaughter of Heber-Percy. In September 2017, it was listed for sale at a price of £11.5 million.

Faringdon railway station is a closed stone and brick built railway station that served the market town of Faringdon, in Oxfordshire, England and was on the Faringdon branch line.

Faringdon Community College is an 11 to 18 mixed comprehensive school on the edge of Faringdon, a market town in Oxfordshire, England. The college has a specialist status in Engineering. Tollington Secondary Modern School moved to the present site in Fernham Road in 1962, and was renamed Faringdon Community College in 2003. In 2012 it became part of the Faringdon Academy of Schools along with Faringdon Infant School and Faringdon Junior School.

Faringdon Castle was a Norman castle standing just outside the market town of Faringdon in the English county of Berkshire (administratively now Oxfordshire), some 17 km to the northeast of Swindon (grid reference SU297957). This castle was built, on a site now known as Folly Hill, by Robert, Earl of Gloucester in, 1144 in support of Matilda in the Anarchy. The Gesta Stephani, a contemporary chronicle, recorded the founding of the castle and the earl's activities, noting that it was "strongly fortified by a rampart and stockade, and putting in it a garrison that was the flower of his whole army he valorously restrained the wonted attacks from the king's soldiers, who had been coming out of Oxford and other castles round about to harass his own side." A few weeks after Faringdon Castle was built it was besieged by Stephen, and after four days, the castellan, Brian De Soulis, surrendered. Little Coxwell is a village and civil parish in South East England, about 1.5 miles (2.4 km) south of Faringdon and 0.8 miles (1.3 km) east of Great Coxwell. Little Coxwell was part of Berkshire until the 1974 local government boundary changes transferred the Vale of White Horse to Oxfordshire. Cistercian monks of Beaulieu Abbey built the Church of England parish church of Saint Mary in the 12th century as a chapel of ease. Little Coxwell was a dependent chapelry of the ecclesiastical parish of Great Faringdon. In 1866 the civil parish was established. The village has a public house, the Eagle Tavern. The Hurlingham Polo Association, the governing body for polo in the UK, Ireland, and many other countries, has its office at Manor Farm, Little Coxwell.

Great Coxwell is a village and civil parish 2 miles (3 km) southwest of Faringdon in the Vale of White Horse, England. It was in Berkshire until the 1974 boundary changes transferred it to Oxfordshire. The 2021 Census recorded the parish's population as 295 in 124 households.

Great Coxwell Barn is a Medieval tithe barn at Great Coxwell, Oxfordshire (formerly Berkshire), England. It is on the northern edge of the village of Great Coxwell, which is about 9 miles (14 km) northeast of Swindon in neighbouring Wiltshire. The barn was built about 1292 for the Cistercian Beaulieu Abbey in Hampshire, which had held the manor of Great Coxwell since 1205. Since 1956 it has been in the care of the National Trust. The barn has been a Grade I listed building since 1966 and is also a Scheduled Ancient Monument.
