Lajpat Nagar is a residential and commercial neighborhood in the South East Delhi district of Delhi. It was named in honor of Lala Lajpat Rai and is today most known for the Lajpat Nagar Central Market. This area is not to be confused with the Lajpat Nagar in Ghaziabad in the NCR region. In the recent years, Lajpat Nagar has become a preferred residential neighborhood for tourists and certain refugees from various countries, including Afghanistan, who often travel to New Delhi as medical tourists, owing to the presence of affordable quality health care in the capital. It is common to see individuals from different parts of India, Afghanistan in this neighborhood.

Dayanand Colony is part of the Lajpat Nagar area of Delhi. It falls under Lajpat Nagar-4 in South Delhi. By 1957, it was named after Dayanand Saraswati.The area is mostly occupied by Punjabis and Sidhis and Multanis who were immigrants from Pakistan. It has the largest wholesale market for ladies suits and saris in Delhi and numerous food outlets.

Sriniwaspuri (Hindi: श्रीनिवासपुरी) is a small Colony located in the southern part of Delhi, India. It is the only place in Delhi where Emperor Ashoka’s Rock Edict was discovered. The in-situ Bahapur rock edict (28.55856°N 77.25662°E) was discovered in Delhi is a minor edict that is in an engraved form on a small patch of rock exposure in Sriniwaspuri. This Colony has mainly two sub-colonies - a government colony and a private colony. The government colony has Type-I and Type-II flats and few type 3 flats above I block market under General Pool Residential Accommodation of Central Government maintained by CPWD, and residents here are employees of various Central and attached government offices and their family members

Lajpat Nagar is an interchange station between Violet Line and Pink Line of the Delhi Metro in Delhi. It is located between Jangpura and Moolchand on the Violet Line in Lajpat Nagar. The station was opened with the first section of the Violet Line on 3 October 2010, in time for the Commonwealth Games opening ceremony on the same day. It became an interchange station with the opening of the Pink Line on 6 August 2018. The station on the Pink Line is underground, whereas the Violet line station is elevated. However, both the lines are seamlessly connected, without commuters having to exit the ticketed area to interchange from one line to another. Lajpat Nagar Market is one of the famous shopping market in Delhi which is famous for women's clothes, artificial jewelry, Footwear, household electronics and Home Decor items. This market is walking distance from Lajpat Nagar metro station and rickshaws can be hired easily for traveling back and forth. Timings of this market is 11:00 AM to 08:00 PM
