Arroio Dilúvio

Praia de Belas is a neighborhood of the city of Porto Alegre, the state capital of Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil. It was created by Law 2022 from December 7, 1959. Close to Porto Alegre downtown, Praia de Belas was named after the farmer Antônio Rodrigues de Belas, who constructed a road for the slave trade in 1839, today known as Praia de Belas avenue. The number of dwellers begun to grow when a stone quay was built in 1870, and thus the political authorities decided to expand its area. In 1960, a big portion of Guaíba Lake was covered with landfill and enabled the planned urbanization process. Since then it has been home to innumerable government and public buildings, such as courthouses: the Administrative Centre of Rio Grande do Sul is located here, as well as many courthouses. Moreover, there are two parks in Praia Belas: the Marinha do Brasil Park and Maurício Sirotski Sobrinho Park. Also, there is located a highly regarded private school of the city, the Maria Imaculada school.

Centro Administrativo Fernando Ferrari, formerly Centro Administrativo do Estado do Rio Grande do Sul is a pyramid-shaped modernist building located on Largo dos Açorianos, at the Praia de Belas neighborhood in Porto Alegre, Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil. Built during the 1970 decade and completed in 1987, the building houses several state public offices, and is home of the Porto Alegre Symphony Orchestra. It is named in honor to the economist and politician Fernando Ferrari.

Borges de Medeiros Avenue (Portuguese: Avenida Borges de Medeiros) is an arterial road located in the Brazilian city of Porto Alegre, capital of the state of Rio Grande do Sul. It includes landmarks such as the Otávio Rocha Viaduct and the Cine Theatro Capitólio. The intersection with Andradas Street forms the Democratic Corner, an established meeting point for rallies and popular demonstrations of different kinds.

The Monument to the Azoreans (Portuguese: Monumento aos Açorianos) is a public art monument in full time exhibition in Porto Alegre, state of Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil, in honor of the arrival of the first sixty Azorean couples that populated the city in 1752. It was inaugurated on March 26, 1974, in the city's 206th anniversary. The monument is 17 meters high and 24 meters wide.This metallic sculpture is located in one of the most famous plazas in the city, the Azoreans' Plaza (Portuguese: Largo dos Açorianos), close to the State's administrative center. Built in 1973, made of steel and inspiried in futuristic aesthetic, it is an artwork created by the sculptor Carlos Tenius, and resembles a caravel, composed of intertwined human bodies and, in its front, a winged figure that resembles the mythological Greek character Icarus, representing the victory of reaching a new country having traveled through the sea.The monument has an inscription reading "Never would those Azorean couples have dreamt that, from the seed they had thrown to the soil, the splendor of this city would grow."

Marinha do Brasil Park is an urban park located in the city of Porto Alegre, the state capital of Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil. It was inaugurated on December 9, 1978, on 70,7 hectares of city-owned land. It is located in Praia de Belas neighbourhood.

The Joaquim Felizardo Museum of Porto Alegre (Portuguese: Museu de Porto Alegre Joaquim Felizardo) is a historical museum in the city of Porto Alegre, capital of the Brazilian state of Rio Grande do Sul. It is installed at Lopo Gonçalves Manor House, located at 582 João Alfredo Street.

The Piratini Palace (Portuguese: Palácio Piratini) is the current seat of the Executive Branch of the Brazilian state of Rio Grande do Sul. It is located at Marechal Deodoro Square, also known as the Mother Church Square, in Porto Alegre's historic center. The Piratini Palace has been the official residence of thirty-eight governors.

Cidade Baixa (meaning Lower City) is a neighborhood of the city of Porto Alegre, the state capital of Rio Grande do Sul in Brazil. The neighborhood was created by the law number 2022 of December 7, 1959. Nowadays Cidade Baixa is the main nightlife neighborhood of Porto Alegre. There are several bars and nightclubs particularly along the streets General Lima e Silva, República and João Alfredo. It is located next to the Farroupilha Park (also known as Redenção Park), one of the greenest areas in the city. Also, the proximity to the downtown Campus of the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul (UFRGS) attracts many students, intellectuals and artists. The Metropolitan Cathedral of Our Lady Mother of God (Portuguese: Catedral Metropolitana Nossa Senhora Madre de Deus), also called the Metropolitan Cathedral of Porto Alegre (Catedral Metropolitana de Porto Alegre), is the Catholic metropolitan cathedral of Porto Alegre and the seat of the eponymous archdiocese.The founding of the church is closely related to the origin of the city. With the transfer of the state capital of Viamão to Porto dos Casais, it became clear the need to build a new church, with dimensions corresponding to the new status of the city. On July 12, 1772, the viceroy ordered that land for the construction demarcate.This Baroque style cathedral was designed by an unknown architect and has two bell towers flanking the main entrance. These towers were brought from Rio de Janeiro in 1774.The current cathedral was built in 1921–1972.

Júlio de Castilhos Museum (Portuguese: Museu Júlio de Castilhos) is a museum located in the city of Porto Alegre (Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil). It is the oldest museum in Rio Grande do Sul state. Its collection, over 10 thousand pieces, is Brazilian national heritage, and comprises objects of historical, artistic, ethnographic and archaeological character, mostly related to the history of Rio Grande do Sul. Its sections for the Ragamuffin War and the Paraguayan War are specially rich. The museum also preserves a few but very important examples of sculptures produced within Indian Reductions by Jesuits and indigenous peoples.

Usina do Gasômetro (Portuguese for Gasholder Plant) is a former electrical power station located in the Brazilian city of Porto Alegre, Rio Grande do Sul. Despite the name, it was a coal-powered plant, the name gasômetro being a reference to the plant location, in an area known as Volta do Gasômetro, which in turn had taken its name from a nearby factory: the Usina de Gás. The thermal power station was inaugurated on November 11, 1928, to function as the headquarters of Companhia Brasil de Força Elétrica, a subsidiary of Electric, Bond & Share Co., an American company that was in charge of the electricity and electric transportation service in Porto Alegre until 1954. It functioned as a power generator until 1974, the year it was deactivated. The municipal government's intention was to demolish it and use the area as an extension of Perimetral avenue. The building was saved from demolition after a preservation effort by civil entities. In 1982, Eletrobras transferred the use of the land to the municipality of Porto Alegre. Usina do Gasômetro was listed by the municipality in 1982 and by the state in 1983. After being restored by the municipality in 1988, the plant reopened as a cultural center in 1991.

The Minor Basilica of Our Lady of Sorrows (Portuguese: Basílica Menor de Nossa Senhora das Dores) is the oldest standing Catholic temple in the Brazilian city of Porto Alegre, in the state of Rio Grande do Sul. Its construction lasted a considerable time and the design of the facade, which was modified even before it was inaugurated, today features an eclectic style. However, the interior is richly decorated with gilded woodwork in a late Baroque style with neoclassical elements and has an important group of life-size Baroque statues of Christ representing the cycle of the Passion.The seat of ancient religious traditions and of great historical and artistic significance, it has been classified as a national heritage site by IPHAN. In 2022, the church was given the title of Minor Basilica by Pope Francis.
