St Bonaventure's

St Peter's Church was a Church of England church on Upton Lane in the Upton Cross area of Newham, East London. Its origins were in a mission of St Mary's Church, Plaistow on Pelly Road, holding services in a barn then in an iron church. Joseph Lister's former home Upton House was bought by the bishop of St Albans in 1885, becoming the vicarage, whilst its garden provided the site for a permanent church, built in 1893 and given a separate parish the following year using parts of those of All Saints, St Mary's, Emmanuel and St Stephen's. The parish was merged into that of Emmanuel in 1962 - the church was left standing as a chapel of ease to Emmanuel, but its vicarage was demolished, the site being sold in 1968. Funds from that sale and the sale of the parish hall were intended for a new church, church hall and clergy house, but in 1972 St Peter's Church was declared redundant, demolished and its site sold off, leading to the scheme's abandonment three years later.

Upton House was a building in West Ham, Essex (now the London Borough of Newham) on what is now the corner of Lancaster Road and Upton Lane In 1827 it was the birthplace of the surgeon Joseph Lister. In 1893 a temporary church for St Peter's Church, Upton Cross was set up in its gardens, with the house forming the vicarage - the permanent church was later built in the gardens. The vicarage was demolished in 1967-1968 and its site is now occupied by Joseph Lister Court.

The Spotted Dog is a Grade II listed public house at 212 Upton Lane, Forest Gate, London. It dates back to the late 15th or early 16th century, and was thought to once have been a hunting lodge for King Henry VIII.

The Old Spotted Dog Ground in Forest Gate is the oldest senior football ground in London. Clapton Community FC the fan-owned club purchased the ground in June 2020, having been initially awarded the lease. The previous tenants Clapton FC and Hackney Wick FC were ejected from the ground in 2018 due in part to a breach in the lease following non-payment of rent. Clapton Community FC Women's team were able to play their first league games at the Old Spotted Dog from September 2022.

St Katherine's Church, Plaistow was a Church of England church on Chapman Road in Plaistow, Newham. It opened in 1891 as a mission church of St Mary's Church, Plaistow, using a building that had earlier been used to house the infant department of that church's day schools. In 1894 a permanent church was completed. In 1965 it was demolished for redevelopment.

West Ham Park is a privately owned public park in West Ham in the London Borough of Newham. Spanning 77 acres (31 ha), it is the largest park in the borough. The park has been managed by the City of London Corporation since 1874.Records from 1566 show that the park had been a part of the estate of Upton House, later known as Ham House. William Rooke, who had inherited the estate, enlarged it to 28 acres (11 ha) in 1559. The estate was purchased by John Elliott in 1752, who owned it for 10 years. It was acquired in 1762 by John Fothergill, who enlarged the grounds to around 80 acres (32 ha) and created a sizeable botanical garden, which had been described as 'second only to Kew'. He would often accept rare plants in lieu of his fees as a physician. After Fothergill's death in 1780, the contents of the garden were largely sold off.The estate was sold to James Sheppard in 1787, and after his death was purchased by Samuel Gurney, his son-in-law, in 1812. During this period, Gurney's sister, Elizabeth Fry, resided there. It was later passed to John Gurney, who lived in Norfolk and had no use for the estate. Ham House was demolished in 1872. In 1874, John Gurney gave a large contribution towards the purchase of the Ham House estate and grounds by the Corporation of the City of London, to serve as a public open space.The park was the home to Upton Park FC, a local football club that drew large crowds at home matches. The venue was the site of the first ever FA Cup goal, scored by Jarvis Kenrick for Clapham Rovers in a 3–0 victory over Upton Park on 11 November 1871.The park features ornamental gardens, children's playgrounds, and sporting facilities including five-a-side football pitches, cricket nets and tennis courts. Until its closure in 2016, a nursery stood at the north east corner of the park, and was one of the largest operations of its kind in the UK, producing over 200,000 spring and summer bedding plants each year for the park, gardens and churchyards in the City of London and other Corporation open spaces. Plants grown in the nursery were also used for state occasions and banquets hosted by the City of London Corporation.

St Angela's Ursuline School and Sixth Form is a Catholic secondary school for girls with a mixed gender 6th form centre. It is located in Forest Gate, East London, United Kingdom. It is a voluntary aided school which had 1375 students in 2014.

St Mary's Church is a Church of England church in Plaistow, east London. With the three churches of St Matthias’, St Martin's, and St Philip and St James’, it now forms part of the Parish of the Divine Compassion. Its Victorian building, designed by Sir Arthur William Blomfield in 1890-1894, was demolished in 1976. They now worship in a smaller church built in 1981.It was built as a chapel of ease to All Saints Church, West Ham, then the only parish church in the area. It was promoted to a parish in its own right in 1844. The site was granted by Sir John H Pelly and the church designed in the neo-Gothic style influenced by the late Perpendicular style by Thomas Curtis. Notable among its vicars was Thomas Given-Wilson, who raised is capacity to 1,000 through a comprehensive rebuild. The parish also built several mission churches - St Peter's, Upton Road (1880s), St Katherine's on Chapman Road (1891; replaced by a permanent church in 1894; demolished 1965), St Thomas' on Northern Road (1898-1950) and St Matthias' Canning Town (1887).

The British Institute of Technology, England (BITE), formerly the British Institute of Technology and E-commerce, is a private educational institute, also involved in consultancy and research, whose main campus is located in the London Borough of Newham, east London, England. As of 2012, BITE was the 5th largest private higher educational establishment in the UK by number of students.

Emmanuel Church, Forest Gate is a Church of England church in Forest Gate, east London. It was built in the Decorated Gothic variant of the neo-Gothic style in 1852 to designs by George Gilbert Scott and a new parish formed for it from parts of All Saints Church, West Ham and St Mary Magdalene's Church, East Ham. A north aisle was added in 1890. Bomb damage from the London Blitz was repaired. It was Grade II listed in 1984. The church also set up the mission churches of St Saviour's Church, Forest Gate in 1880 and St Mark's Church, Forest Gate (which gained a permanent building between 1893 and 1898 and a parish of its own (using parts of the parishes of Emmanuel and All Saints) in 1894. In 1881 part of its parish was joined with parts of those of All Saints Church, West Ham and St John's Church, Stratford to form a parish for St James' Church, Forest Gate. In 2023 a controversial clearing of headstones and monuments was undertaken by smashing them up and removing the debris, with financial support from the Newham Council. They did not ask for public comment on the decision but deferred to the Church authorities. The vicar was quoted as saying it was" 'a place littered with old graves' and they made the church look abandoned.

St Thomas' Church, Plaistow was a Church of England church on Northern Road in Plaistow, Newham. It opened in 1898 as a mission church of St Mary's Church, Plaistow. It was demolished around 1950.
