Standseilbahn Linth-Limmern

The Linth–Limmern Power Stations are a system of hydroelectric power stations located south of Linthal in the canton of Glarus, Switzerland. The system uses five reservoirs and four power stations at steep variations in altitude. Works on the complex began in 1957 with the construction of Lake Limmern Dam and the Mutt, Tierfehd and Linthal Power Stations. The dam was complete in 1963 and the power stations were all operational by 1968, with an installed capacity of 340 MW. In 2009, a 140 MW pumped-storage component between Lake Limmern and Tierfehd Reservoir was commissioned. In 2010, construction began on the Linthal 2015 Project, which included the expansion of Lake Mutt and Tierfehd Reservoir, and the addition of the Limmern Power Station, a 1,000 MW pumped-storage component between Lake Mutt and Lake Limmern. Commissioning of the last unit in Limmern was completed by December 2017, bringing the total installed capacity of the system to 1480 MW.

The Nüschenstock is a mountain of the Glarus Alps, located south of Linthal in canton of Glarus. On its eastern side it overlooks the Muttsee.

Muttsee is a reservoir in the Canton of Glarus, Switzerland. Its surface area is 42 ha (100 acres). It is used as the upper reservoir in the 1 GW pumped-storage hydroelectricity Linth–Limmern Power Stations. The 2.4 km high altitude permits a 2.2 MW solar farm to supply 3.3 GWh per year, more than average power, even in winter (as the high altitude prevents fog formation, and as the snow reflects the sunlight onto the solar panels). The 6,000 photovoltaic panels were installed on the containment wall of the artificial basin in 2021, covering approximately 10,000 square meters of concrete, and stretching over almost 1 km.

The Ruchi is a mountain in the Glarus Alps, located at an elevation of 3,107 m (10,194 ft) on the border between the Swiss cantons of Glarus and Graubünden. It overlooks the Muttsee (2,446 m or 8,025 ft) on its west side from where a trail leads to the summit. On its south-east side lies a small glacier, the Glatscher da Gavirolas. The Ruchi is connected to the higher summit of the Hausstock on the north-east by a 2 km (1.2 mi) long ridge.The nearest settlements are the villages of Linthal to the north, and Andiast to the south. Administratively, the mountain lies in the municipalities of Glarus Süd and Waltensburg/Vuorz.

Linthal is a village, and former municipality, in the municipality of Glarus Süd and canton of Glarus in Switzerland. The village lies near the head of the valley of the Linth river, and at the foot of the Klausen Pass into the canton of Uri. It is the terminus of the railway line that traverses the length of Glarus.

The Schibe is a mountain of the Glarus Alps, located south of Linthal in the canton of Glarus. It lies north of the Bifertenstock, on the range separating the Sand valley from the Limmeren valley that also includes the Selbsanft.The mountain is composed of two summits: the Hinderi Schibe at an elevation of 3,083 m (10,115 ft) and the Vorderi Schibe at an elevation of 2,987 m (9,800 ft). The mountain lies within the municipality of Glarus Süd. In a broader sense, they are part of the Selbsanft massif.

The Limmern Glacier (German: Limmernfirn) is a glacier situated in the Glarus Alps in the canton of Glarus in Switzerland. The glacier is situated below the mountains of Bifertenstock, to the south, and Schiben, to the north. Meltwater from the glacier flows eastwards into the Limmernsee and thence north into the Linth river.In 2005, the glacier had a length of 3 km (1.9 mi). In 1973 it had an area of 2.09 km2 (0.81 sq mi).

Linthal railway station is a railway station in the municipality of Glarus Süd in the Swiss canton of Glarus. It is the terminus of the Weesen to Linthal railway line, and serves the village of Linthal.The station is the terminus of the hourly Zürich S-Bahn service S25 from Zurich.The station is also the terminus of a PostBus Switzerland service to Fluelen station, on the Gothard railway and Lake Lucerne, which provides several daily return journeys across the Klausen Pass between May and September. Outside that period, a minibus service called the Urnerboden Sprinter provides three connections a day to Urnerboden on the route to the pass.

Linthal Braunwaldbahn railway station is a railway station in the municipality of Glarus Süd in the Swiss canton of Glarus. It is situated on the Weesen to Linthal railway line in the valley of the Linth river, some 500 metres (1,600 ft) short of the terminus of the line at Linthal station in the village of Linthal. The station opened in 1982 in order to provide a convenient interchange with the Braunwaldbahn funicular to the car-free resort of Braunwald on the mountain above.The station is served by the hourly Zürich S-Bahn service S25 between Zurich and Linthal (during off-peak hours by S6 service of St. Gallen S-Bahn).

Braunwald is a car-free resort village in the municipality of Glarus Süd and canton of Glarus in Switzerland.

The Braunwaldbahn, Braunwald-Standseilbahn (BRSB), or Braunwald Funicular, is a funicular railway in the canton of Glarus, Switzerland. The line links Linthal Braunwaldbahn station, on the Swiss Federal Railways' Weesen to Linthal line, with the car-free resort of Braunwald on the mountain 605 m above.The line was opened in 1907.

The Hausstock is a mountain in the Glarus Alps, at an elevation of 3,158 m (10,361 ft) on the border between the cantons of Glarus and Graubünden. It overlooks the valleys of Linth and Sernf rivers in Glarus, and the valley of the Vorderrhein river in Graubünden. The Hausstock was the site of the 1799 withdrawal of the Russian army under General Alexander Suvorov. A well-known destination already in the nineteenth century with British and American climbers, the mountain remains popular with mountain climbers and skiers.
