Argyll Street

French Radio London (FRL) is a commercial radio station located in London and broadcasting to the Greater London Area on the Internet. Launched in November 2010, the station remains the only UK based French speaking terrestrial radio station. It aims to provide a cultural link for the French-speaking community in London. Its slogan is "The French Voice of London" or "La voix Française de Londres". The chief executive is Pascal Grierson, who has previous radio experience with GWR.FRL broadcasts radio shows presented by Rachel Bourlier (Rachel&Co talk-show), Eric Gendry (La Newsroom), Maia Morgensztern (Culture FRL), Marie Dosiere (Balade Chromatique), Frank McWeeny (French Toast) and many more.

The London Palladium () is a Grade II* West End theatre located on Argyll Street, London, in the famous area of Soho. The theatre holds 2,286 seats. Of the roster of stars who have played there, many have televised performances. Between 1955 and 1969 Sunday Night at the London Palladium was held at the venue, which was produced for the ITV network. The show included a performance by The Beatles on 13 October 1963. One national paper's headlines in the following days coined the term "Beatlemania" to describe the increasingly hysterical interest in the band.While the theatre has a resident show, it is also able to host one-off performances, such as concerts, TV specials and Christmas pantomimes. It has hosted the Royal Variety Performance 43 times, most recently in 2019. In March 2020, the venue closed due to the COVID-19 pandemic's effect on the theatre industry, but reopened over four months later on 1 August 2020.

The Argyll Rooms (sometimes spelled Argyle) was an entertainment venue on Little Argyll Street, Regent Street, London, England, opened in 1806. It was rebuilt in 1818 due to the design of Regent Street. It burned down in 1830, but was rebuilt, but later mainly occupied by shops. It was the home of the Philharmonic Society of London from its inception in 1813 until 1830. The Argyll Rooms should not be confused with the Argyle Subscription Rooms, later part of the London Trocadero. These rooms were open as a music hall from 1849 to 1878 and were notorious as a haven for prostitutes.

The Oxford Circus panic, or Oxford Street panic, was a human stampede in Oxford Circus tube station and surrounding streets in London, United Kingdom, around 16:38 GMT on Friday 24 November 2017 in which 16 people were injured.The incident began with false reports of gunshots after a fight between two people on the Central line platform at Oxford Circus station. Since the panic coincided with Black Friday sales and the Christmas shopping season, the streets of Oxford Street and Regent Street were full of shoppers. Many shops barricaded their doors, and the police issued warnings for people in Oxford Street to seek shelter immediately. In the resulting panic, several people were injured by falls and trampling, nine seriously enough to require hospital treatment. By 18:05 GMT, the police had declared that there had been no gunshots or terrorism, which ended the incident.

Argyll House was a historic residence in London just south of Oxford Street on the present-day Argyll Street. It was originally the London townhouse of the Dukes of Argyll, a prominent Scottish family, before later passing into the hands of the nineteenth century politician Lord Aberdeen after considerable redevelopment.

Liberty, commonly known as Liberty's, is a luxury department store in London, England. It is located on Great Marlborough Street in the West End of London. The building spans from Carnaby Street on the East to Kingly Street on the West, where it forms a three storey archway over the Northern entrance to the Kingly Street mall that houses the Liberty Clock in its centre. Liberty is known around the world for its close connection to art and culture, it is most famous for its bold and floral print fabrics. The vast mock-Tudor store also sells men's, women's and children's fashion, beauty and homewares from a mix of high-end and emerging brands and labels. The store is known to spot and champion young designers at the start of their careers, and many now-prominent brands were first available at Liberty. The store played essential role in spreading and popularizing the Modern Style. This continues Liberty's long reputation for working with British artists and designers.

Palladium House, formerly known as Ideal House is a grade II listed Art Deco office building located on the corner of Great Marlborough Street and Argyll Street in London.

The Argyll Arms is a Grade II* listed public house at 18 Argyll Street, Soho, London, W1.It is on the Campaign for Real Ale's National Inventory of Historic Pub Interiors.It was built in 1868, and altered in about 1895 by Robert Sawyer.

The Clachan is a public house at 33 Kingly Street, London W1. It is a Grade II listed building, built in 1898, but the architect is not known.

Marlborough Street Magistrates Court was a court of law at 19–21 Great Marlborough Street, Soho London, between the early 19th and late 20th centuries. It was designed by the Surveyor to the Metropolitan Police, John Dixon Butler. The court saw many significant trials, including those of Oscar Wilde, Christine Keeler, Keith Richards and John Lennon. The court closed in 1998 and is now The Courthouse Hotel London, a 5-star hotel next to London Palladium Theatre, and opposite Carnaby Street and Liberty London.

The Green Man and Still was a tavern in Oxford Street, London. It was much favoured during the 18th and 19th centuries by cricketers playing at the nearby Thomas Lord's grounds, including as William Beldham, Tom Walker and David Harris, and was also patronised by the leading bookmakers of the day.The tavern was originally situated at 335 Oxford Street, between Argyll Street and Queen Street (which no longer exists) and was also a coaching inn (a 1792 map shows it at the entrance to a stagecoach yard), the start point/terminus of several stage coach routes out of London. By 1852 it was also a parcel office for the London & North-Western Railway and in 1864 the established coaching firm of Chaplin & Horne took over the office, which had most likely stopped being a tavern by this date. In 1882, this office apparently closed and moved to 241 Oxford Street: however, as the current 241 premises (following the renumbering of Oxford Street during the late 19th century redevelopment) are barely 100 feet further west down the street, it couldn't have been too arduous a move. The building at 241 was purchased in 1898 by the Baker St & Waterloo Railway and demolished in February 1901, by which time the office had relocated to 151 Oxford Street (between Berwick Street and Poland Street), retaining the 'Green Man & Still' name as late as the early 1920s.
