Helvetia, Oregon

The Holcomb Creek Trestle, also known as the Dick Road Trestle, is a wooden railroad trestle bridge in Washington County, Oregon, United States, on Dick Road near the unincorporated community of Helvetia. Spanning 1,168 feet (356 m), it is thought to be the longest wooden railroad trestle still in use in the United States, as well as the largest trestle in Oregon.The trestle was completed in around 1911 for the United Railways, a now-defunct railway which ran from Portland to Wilkesboro. It was rebuilt in 1947. A connection to the Oregon Electric Railway was later added. It was used by Burlington Northern Railroad (which merged into BNSF Railway in 1995) until the mid-1990s, and was known by that company as "Bridge 16.7". The Holcomb Creek Trestle is currently operated by Portland and Western Railroad. The trestle is the subject of several local urban legends and is rumored to be haunted. According to one account, it is haunted by the ghost of a man who killed himself and his family in a murder-suicide in the 1960s. It is also said to be the site of several suicides by hanging which took place in the early 20th century.

Hillsboro Symphony Orchestra (HSO) is an amateur orchestra based in Hillsboro in the Portland metropolitan area of the U.S. state of Oregon. Founded in 2001, the non-profit group has 86 musicians and is led by conductor Sharon Northe. They perform three concerts per year at Hillsboro's Trinity Lutheran Church. Additionally, the orchestra also has five ensembles that perform at other events in the area.

The Rice Northwest Museum of Rocks and Minerals is a non-profit museum in Hillsboro, Oregon, United States. Located just north of the Sunset Highway on the northern edge of Hillsboro, the earth science museum is in the Portland metropolitan area. Opened in 1997, the museum's collections date to the 1930s with the museum housed in a home built to display the rock and mineral collections of the museum founders. The ranch-style home is listed on the National Register of Historic Places, the first of its kind listed in Oregon. In 2015 the museum became a Smithsonian Affiliate museum. The museum sits on 23 wooded acres (9.3 ha), with the main building containing 7,500 square feet (700 m2) of space. Collections include petrified wood, various fossils, fluorescent minerals, meteorites, zeolites, and a variety of other minerals. With more than 20,000 specimens, the museum is the largest of its kind in the Pacific Northwest. The facility has around 25,000 visitors each year.

Ron Tonkin Field, originally Hillsboro Ballpark, is a baseball park in the northwest United States, located in Hillsboro, Oregon, a suburb west of Portland. The stadium has a capacity of 4,500 spectators (3,534 seats) and is the home for the Hillsboro Hops of the High-A West and the Post 6 Barbers of the American Legion Oregon Zone 2 Division. Groundbreaking for the $15.55 million venue was on September 21, 2012, with the first game played nine months later on June 17, 2013. The ballpark is adjacent to Hillsboro Stadium, a multi-sport stadium owned by the city of Hillsboro, with both stadiums located inside the city's Gordon Faber Recreation Complex. Ron Tonkin Field hosts the only professional baseball team in the Portland metropolitan area.
