The keurboom is an indigenous tree. The park hosted the 2012 African Cross Country Championships with races ranging from 6 to 12 km (3.7 to 7.5 mi).

Harfield Village, also known as Lower Claremont, is a suburb in the south of Cape Town. Its neighbouring suburbs are Kenilworth and Claremont, Cape Town. Prior to the apartheid era Group Areas Act the area was home to around 19,000 Coloured residents. All of whom were evicted or forced to sell their property when the area was declared a whites only area in 1969. Victorian and Edwardian cottages decorate the tree-lined, numbered avenues, and English sounding streets with names like Surrey, Norfolk and Suffolk. Many of these are semi-detached and make perfect starter homes, and there is a real village feel to the little area that manages to hide itself obscurely on the other side of the railway line and Main Road from Arderne Gardens. It fits snugly up against Harfield station on the major commuter train into Cape Town. Harfield Village probably got its name from the original Harfield Cottage, built here by Thomas Mathew, one of the initial residents of Claremont.

The Peter Clarke Art Centre, formerly known as the Frank Joubert Art Centre, is a co-educational government art school in Cape Town, South Africa. The school specilises in teaching the visual arts and design within the Western Cape Education Department's curriculum. It has the capacity to offer these courses to 200 grade 10 to 12 students from 50 different schools in the surrounding area. It also offers classes for adult learners.It was founded by Frank Joubert, a World War II captain in the South African Army, in 1943 to help rehabilitate traumatised soldiers through art. Originally located at Rustenburg House the school moved to its current location at Vredenhoff, Newlands in 1970. In the 1960s the school started offering art as a matric subject to school children from other schools. In 2016 it was renamed after the artist Peter Clarke.

Livingstone High School is a school in the Western Cape of South Africa. It was founded by Abdullah Abdurahman in 1926. As of August 2017 Theodore Bruinders was the school's principal, currently the Acting Principal is Mr D.R. Niekerk. Rondebosch Boys' High School is a public English medium high school for boys situated in the suburb of Rondebosch in Cape Town in the Western Cape province of South Africa. It is one of the topmost academic schools in South Africa and one of the oldest schools in the country, having been established in 1897. Rondebosch is the only school in the Western Cape to have a Nobel Prize laureate, Allan M. Cormack in Physiology and Medicine.

Newlands Cricket Ground (known as Six Gun Grill Newlands for sponsorship reasons) in Cape Town is a South African cricket ground. It is the home of the Western Province and MI Cape Town. It is also a venue for Test matches, ODIs and T20Is. Newlands is regarded as one of the most beautiful cricket grounds in the world, being overlooked by Table Mountain and Devil's Peak. It is close to Newlands Stadium, which was a rugby union and football venue. The cricket ground opened in 1888. In March 2019, it was announced that the owners of Newlands Cricket Ground, the Western Province Cricket Association, went into partnership with Sanlam, to form a new office-block development as part of the cricket ground.
