Pinxton Castle

Pinxton is a village and civil parish in Derbyshire on the western boundary of Nottinghamshire, England, just south of the Pinxton Interchange at Junction 28 of the M1 motorway where the A38 road meets the M1. Pinxton is part of the Bolsover District and at the 2011 Census had a population of 5,699. "Pinxton CCTV level crossing", located on the up and down Kirkby lines, is a major tourist attraction for train enthusiasts who come from all over the country to take photographs of some of the unique locomotives that pass over the crossing.

The Frederick Gent Comprehensive School is a co-educational secondary school located on Mansfield Road (B6019) in South Normanton in the Bolsover district of Derbyshire.

Pinxton and Selston railway station served the villages of Pinxton, Derbyshire and Selston, Nottinghamshire. It was located on the Midland Railway's Mansfield Branch Line (now the Robin Hood Line). It was one of three stations that served the village of Pinxton. The others were Pinxton South and Pye Hill and Somercotes.

Huthwaite is a village in Nottinghamshire, England, located to the west of Mansfield, close to the Derbyshire boundary. It is in the Huthwaite and Brierley ward of Ashfield District Council. Before 1907 the village was known as Hucknall-under-Huthwaite and also Dirty Hucknall.

Pinxton South railway station was a former railway station that served Pinxton, Derbyshire; the station site lies within the parish of Selston, Nottinghamshire. It was opened by the Great Northern Railway (Great Britain) as "Pinxton" on its Derbyshire Extension in 1875-6 In some timetables it was listed as "Pinxton for South Normanton". It was renamed "Pinxton South" in January 1954. Pinxton (South) station closed in January 1963 with the withdrawal of all regular passenger services beyond Awsworth Junction. At the time of this withdrawal Awsworth Junction signal box moved from 24 to 8 hour opening with the remaining Pinxton branch freight traffic being confined to 'morning shift' working. It retained the South suffix to the end although the nearby Midland Railway Pinxton & Selston station situated on the Pye Bridge to Kirkby-in-Ashfield line had closed to all regular passenger services many years earlier. It was the 'Friargate' line itself that closed in to all regular passenger services in September 1964 although this remained open for freight traffic throughout for a few more years.

Hilcote is a small village in the south of the Bolsover district in Derbyshire, England, located close to the A38 junction with the M1 (Junction 28). The village is surrounded by the villages of South Normanton, Blackwell, Old Blackwell and Huthwaite in Nottinghamshire. The nearest towns are Alfreton to the west and Sutton-in-Ashfield(where the population is included) to the east. The village is a former mining village and was previously called 'B' Winning. 'B' Winning pit was named after the seam of coal being mined from Blackwell Colliery. The village exists because of the pit, which was first sunk in the last part of the 19th century and was worked until 1964. When 'B' Winning pit closed the land was reclaimed and classed as Grade 4 agricultural land. There are about 200 houses in the village with approximately 350 residents. The Post Office, which also served as a general store, off-licence and video library closed in 2019. Many of the houses in the village were built for the mineworkers by Blackwell Colliery Company and are considered to be unique examples of this type of architecture and size of house for miners. Other houses in the village date back to the 17th and 18th centuries. When the pit was working there were a number of shops, which have since disappeared. The village has three pubs, The Hilcote Country Club, Hilcote Miners Welfare and Hilcote Arms. The Miner's Welfare was burnt down, demolished and rebuilt during the 1990s. Hilcote chapel closed too. A number of residents are the third generation of their families in Hilcote. Many people were born on what was called Top Row and Side Row at 'B' Winning.

South Normanton is a village and civil parish in the Bolsover District of Derbyshire, England. The population at the 2011 Census was 9,445. An ex-mining village, it is two miles east of Alfreton. The historic industries of the village were agriculture, stocking, spinning and mining. Normanton means 'the farm of the north men' or 'Northwegans'. South Normanton Colliery closed in 1952, B Winning in 1964 and A Winning in 1969. Carnfield Hall was for several centuries the seat of the Revel family.

Whiteborough railway station was station serving the village of Huthwaite, Nottinghamshire on the Midland Railway's line from Westhouses and Blackwell in to Mansfield Woodhouse line. The line opened in 1883, following the opening of Pleasley Colliery in 1878. It closed to passengers in 1930.

Sutton Town A.F.C. was a football club based in Sutton-in-Ashfield, Nottinghamshire, England. The previous club was a member of the Northern Counties East League Premier Division until 2007 when they resigned, but the new club joined the Central Midlands League Premier Division, three levels lower in the English football league system, and later played in the East Midlands Counties League. The team was reformed in 2020, and was initially accepted into the Notts Senior league, but they never started the seasons fixtures. They then began playing friendlies in Spring 2021 ahead of again joining the Notts Senior League. They played against Nottinghamshire, Nuthall AFC, Trent Vineyard and Rushcliffe Reserves although the results were not made public.
