Galmiz

Galmiz railway station (German: Bahnhof Galmiz) is a railway station in the municipality of Galmiz, in the Swiss canton of Fribourg. It is an intermediate stop on the standard gauge Palézieux–Lyss line of Swiss Federal Railways.

It is located at the northern junction of the standard gauge Fribourg–Ins and Palézieux–Lyss lines of Swiss Federal Railways. It takes its name from the nearby municipality of Muntelier.

Burg bei Murten is a village and former municipality in the district of Broye in the canton of Fribourg, Switzerland. It was first recorded in 1340 as Chastel. It has also had the Italian names Castro (1394), Castro villa (1413) and then the German form Burg (1510). The municipality had 216 inhabitants in 1850, which decreased to 187 in 1880. After an increase to 246 in 1900 it declined again, to 187 in 1950 and 167 in 1970. In 1975 the municipality was incorporated into the larger, neighboring municipality Murten.

Lurtigen (German) or Lourtens (French: [luʁtɑ̃s], Franco-Provençal: [lyʁˈtɛ̃] ) is a former municipality in the district of See in the canton of Fribourg in Switzerland. Its French name, little-used today, is Lourtens. It is one of the municipalities with a large majority of German speakers in the mostly French speaking Canton of Fribourg. On 1 January 2016 the former municipalities of Courlevon, Jeuss, Lurtigen and Salvenach merged into Murten.

Salvenach (French name: Salvagny; Arpitan: Cervagné [θəvaˈɲi] ) is a former municipality in the district of See in the canton of Fribourg in Switzerland. It was one of the municipalities with a large majority of German speakers in the mostly French speaking Canton of Fribourg. On 1 January 2016 the former municipalities of Courlevon, Jeuss, Lurtigen and Salvenach merged into Murten.

Büchslen (French: Buchillon) is a former municipality in the district of See in the canton of Fribourg in Switzerland. On 1 January 2013 the former municipality of Büchslen merged into the municipality of Morat.

Ried bei Kerzers (French: Essert; Arpitan: Èssèrts [eˈʃɛ] (listen)) is a municipality in the district of See, within the canton of Fribourg, Switzerland. It is one of the municipalities with a large majority of German speakers in the mostly French speaking Canton of Fribourg. On 1 January 2006, Ried bei Kerzers incorporated the neighbouring municipality of Agriswil.

The Evangelical Reformed Church of the Canton Freiburg is a cantonal Reformed state church in Fribourg. In 2004 it had 16 parishes and 38,000 members, served by 35 ministers. It was officially organised in 1530, the official languages are French and German. From the parishes 3 are dual languages, 5 are French and 8 are German language worship. In 1530 Murten, Kerzers, Motier, Meyriez, Ferenbalm converted to the Reformed faith. The other parts of freiburg stayed Catholic. In 1854 the Reformed church planted more congregations. In the 19th century Reformed churches and schools was planted. In 2001 in Romont-Chatel-St. Denis was divided into 2 separate parishes. Women ordination is allowed.

The Battle of Morat was a battle in the Burgundian Wars (1474–1477) that was fought on 22 June 1476 between Charles the Bold, the Duke of Burgundy, and a Swiss Confederate army at Morat (Murten), about 30 kilometres from Bern. The result was a crushing defeat for the Burgundians at the hands of the Swiss.
