New Zuari Bridge

The Zuari Bridge is a bridge between North Goa and South Goa, India. It carries the NH 66 over the tidal part of the Zuari River, between the villages of Agaçaim and Cortalim. It is a few metres downstream of the Konkan Railway Bridge. The bridge is 1,225 metres (4,019 ft) long.

The Zuari River Zuvari, pronounced [zuwəːriː]) is the largest river in the state of Goa, India. It is a tidal river which originates at Hemad-Barshem in the Western Ghats. The Zuari is also referred to as the Aghanashani in the interior regions. It flows in the southern-western direction through the talukas of Tiswadi, Ponda, Mormugao, Salcete, Sanguem and Quepem. Zuari is 92 km long, but is connected to other rivers and canals such as Mandovi river (62 km in length) and Cumbarjua Canal (15 km). The other rivers in Goa are shorter such as Terekhol (22 km), Chapora (29 km), Baga (5 km), Sal (16 km), Talpona (11 km), and Galgibag (4 km). Their lengths and widths vary with tidal and other seasonal flooding. The tributaries of Zuari include Kushawati River, Sanguem River and Uguem River. The Zuari and Mandovi Rivers form an estuarine system. They are the backbone of Goa's agricultural industry. The Cumbarjua Canal, linking the two rivers has enabled ships navigate to the interior regions to the iron ore mines. The waters of the Mandovi and Zuari both flush out into the Arabian Sea at Cabo Aguada, a common point forming the Mormugao harbour. The port city of Vasco da Gama, Goa lies on the mouth of the Zuari River.

Cortalim Assembly constituency is one of the 40 Goa Legislative Assembly constituencies in Goa, India. Cortalim is also one of the 20 constituencies falling under the South Goa Lok Sabha constituency.

Cortalim (pronounced [kuʈʈʰaːɭĩː]) is a village in Morumugão, Goa, India. Its native Goan population is entirely Catholic and their main occupations include fishing and agriculture. Located on the banks of the Zuari River, it was previously known as Kushasthale. The village is well known as the former site of an ancient temple dedicated to Shiva. There is also a cross commemorating the arrival of Christianity, together with St Philip and James Church. A new road bridge is being constructed at Cortalim as part of the elevated road scheme that connects South and North Goa.

Agaçaim (pronounced Aagshi) or Agassaim, is a village on the northern banks of the Zuari River in Tiswadi, Goa, surrounded by Panjim to the north, Margão to the south, Vasco da Gama to the west and Ponda to the east, thus making it a main connection between North Goa and South Goa via the Zuari Bridge. Agaçaim is famous for its Goan chouriço.

The Society of the Missionaries of St. Francis Xavier, Pilar (Latin: Societas Missionariorum Sancti Francisci Xaverii), abbreviated SFX and commonly referred to as the Society of Pilar or the Pilar Fathers is a Roman Catholic society of apostolic life of Pontifical Right for men (priests and brothers). Sancoale is a census town in South Goa district in the Indian state of Goa. It falls within the Sub-District of Mormugão and the Velhas Conquistas region. It is famous for being the hometown of Joseph Vaz, the patron saint of Sri Lanka.

São Jacinto is an inhabited island in the estuary of the Zuari River in the Indian state of Goa. The island is closest to the southern banks of the estuary and is connected to the mainland by a causeway. The island houses a defunct lighthouse built during Portuguese rule of Goa.A church dedicated to St. Hyacinth of Poland (São Jacinto) and a chapel dedicated to St. Dominic (São Domingo) overlook the waters of the river towards the east. Since the village is a residential area, tourists are not allowed to visit. The natives also do not sell or rent out any of the properties to those from outside the village.
