Cortalim Assembly constituency

Cortalim (pronounced [kuʈʈʰaːɭĩː]) is a village in Morumugão, Goa, India. Its native Goan population is entirely Catholic and their main occupations include fishing and agriculture. Located on the banks of the Zuari River, it was previously known as Kushasthale. The village is well known as the former site of an ancient temple dedicated to Shiva. There is also a cross commemorating the arrival of Christianity, together with St Philip and James Church. A new road bridge is being constructed at Cortalim as part of the elevated road scheme that connects South and North Goa.

The Zuari Bridge is a bridge between North Goa and South Goa, India. It carries the NH 66 over the tidal part of the Zuari River, between the villages of Agaçaim and Cortalim. It is a few metres downstream of the Konkan Railway Bridge. The bridge is 1,225 metres (4,019 ft) long.

New Zuari Bridge, also commonly known as Manohar Setu, is a bridge over the Zuari River in Goa, India, linking the districts of North Goa and South Goa. Opened in 2022, with a total length of 640 metres (2,100 ft), New Zuari Bridge is the second longest cable-stayed bridge in India. Named after the Zuari River, the project was under the control of National Highways Authority of India (NHAI).

The Zuari River Zuvari, pronounced [zuwəːriː]) is the largest river in the state of Goa, India. It is a tidal river which originates at Hemad-Barshem in the Western Ghats. The Zuari is also referred to as the Aghanashani in the interior regions. It flows in the southern-western direction through the talukas of Tiswadi, Ponda, Mormugao, Salcete, Sanguem and Quepem. Zuari is 92 km long, but is connected to other rivers and canals such as Mandovi river (62 km in length) and Cumbarjua Canal (15 km). The other rivers in Goa are shorter such as Terekhol (22 km), Chapora (29 km), Baga (5 km), Sal (16 km), Talpona (11 km), and Galgibag (4 km). Their lengths and widths vary with tidal and other seasonal flooding. The tributaries of Zuari include Kushawati River, Sanguem River and Uguem River. The Zuari and Mandovi Rivers form an estuarine system. They are the backbone of Goa's agricultural industry. The Cumbarjua Canal, linking the two rivers has enabled ships navigate to the interior regions to the iron ore mines. The waters of the Mandovi and Zuari both flush out into the Arabian Sea at Cabo Aguada, a common point forming the Mormugao harbour. The port city of Vasco da Gama, Goa lies on the mouth of the Zuari River.

Agaçaim (pronounced Aagshi) or Agassaim, is a village on the northern banks of the Zuari River in Tiswadi, Goa, surrounded by Panjim to the north, Margão to the south, Vasco da Gama to the west and Ponda to the east, thus making it a main connection between North Goa and South Goa via the Zuari Bridge. Agaçaim is famous for its Goan chouriço.

Sancoale is a census town in South Goa district in the Indian state of Goa. It falls within the Sub-District of Mormugão and the Velhas Conquistas region. It is famous for being the hometown of Joseph Vaz, the patron saint of Sri Lanka.

Birla Institute of Technology and Science, Pilani – Goa Campus is one of the five constituent campuses of the BITS Pilani located in Goa, India. It was established in the year 2004 as an Institute of excellence in technology and sciences.In April 2011, following the August 2008 death of the Chancellor, Krishna Kumar Birla, the campus was renamed as Birla Institute of Technology and Science, Pilani K. K. Birla Goa Campus in his memory. In August 2011, the campus held its first ever convocation ceremony, during which 580 graduates were awarded their degrees.

MES's (Mormugao Educational Society's) Vasant Joshi College of Arts and Commerce is a college in Zuarinagar, just alongside the port city of Vasco-da-Gama, Goa on the western coast of India. It was founded by Vasant S. Joshi. Murgaon Education Society was established in 1971 with the noble goal of providing educational facilities at Vasco-da-Gama and in other parts of Murgaon Taluka. MES offers Higher Secondary Education in Science, Commerce, Arts and Vocational courses. It also offers under-graduation courses in Arts, Commerce, BCA, and BBA and post-graduation course in M.Com and M.A. It is one of the younger colleges of Goa, but caters to students from a wide area around the Mormugao taluka and the town of Vasco-da-Gama. It is an affiliated college of the Goa University. Professor and Dr. Manasvi M. Kamat is the Principal of the college. Dr. Maria do Ceu Rodrigues, former principal of the College has been involved with the Lokniti/CSDS and has been the Goa state coordinator for the National Election Study 2004 apart from being engaged with a UGC Project on "Fishing in Goa, Economic, Social and Political Aspects."

The Society of the Missionaries of St. Francis Xavier, Pilar (Latin: Societas Missionariorum Sancti Francisci Xaverii), abbreviated SFX and commonly referred to as the Society of Pilar or the Pilar Fathers is a Roman Catholic society of apostolic life of Pontifical Right for men (priests and brothers). Its members add the nominal letters S.F.X. after their names to indicate their membership in the Congregation.

Pilar is a village in Goa, India, some 10 km from the state capital Panaji. It is on a hill top and has a panoramic view of the Arabian Sea and the mountains all around.
