Jimmy's Harborside Restaurant was a Boston seafood restaurant on the Boston Fish Pier opened by Jimmy Doulos in 1924. The restaurant closed in 2005 and the building was demolished in 2007. For restaurants in the neighborhood, Jimmy's was a favorite for Julia Child. When it first opened, it was called Liberty Cafeteria. The name Jimmy's Harborside was not used until 1955. The Massachusetts Port Authority had plans to redevelop the Fish Pier and was interested in the property as their property totaled 40,000 sq ft (3,700 m2). They came to an agreement with owner Jimmy Doulos and the restaurant would close in a few weeks with the possibility of opening a waterside location at some time in the future. Legal Sea Foods built Legal Harborside on the site.

The Boston Fish Pier is the central site for the fishing industry based in Boston, Massachusetts. Located on Northern Avenue in South Boston in Boston's Inner Harbor, the pier has played this role since its establishment in 1910. In the 1920s, it was home to one of the largest fishing fleets in the eastern United States, processing 250 million pounds of fish. The pier and its associated buildings were listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2017. This building is currently under consideration for Boston Landmark status by the Boston Landmarks Commission.

Commonwealth Flats is a region of former mud flats in South Boston. It has been used over the years as the site of the South Boston Naval Annex, the South Boston Army Base, the Black Falcon Cruise Terminal and various other entities over the years.

The Leader Bank Pavilion is an outdoor amphitheater located in Boston, Massachusetts, used for concerts. It seats 5,000. Its season runs from May until October. The venue originally opened in August 1994 near Fan Pier. Due to land rights, it closed at the end of its season in 1998 and the tensile structure was relocated to its current location in South Boston, where it reopened in July 1999.

The Seaport Boston Hotel and World Trade Center is a hotel and conference center complex located on the South Boston Waterfront in Boston, Massachusetts. The South Boston Waterfront is also known as the Boston Seaport District and the Innovation District. The World Trade Center part of the complex is located on Commonwealth Pier.

The Partisans is a 1979 aluminum sculpture by the Polish-American sculptor Andrzej Pitynski that has been exhibited in Boston, Massachusetts, since 1983. The sculpture depicts Polish anti-communist "cursed soldiers". It is dedicated to freedom fighters worldwide.

Silver Line Way station is a surface bus rapid transit station on the Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority (MBTA) Silver Line, located on Silver Line Way at Pumphouse Road between Massport Haul Road (Trilling Street) and D Street near the South Boston Waterfront. The station is a block south of the Boston Fish Pier; it also serves the Boston Renaissance Waterfront Hotel and the Leader Bank Pavilion. Changeover between diesel and overhead electric power takes place at the station, similar to Airport Station on the Blue Line. There is a small storage area for trolley buses. The station is the first station at the surface when going outbound from South Station; Courthouse and World Trade Center are both in the Waterfront Tunnel. Like all Silver Line stations, Silver Line Way is accessible.

The Big Dig ceiling collapse occurred on July 10, 2006, when a concrete ceiling panel and debris weighing 26 short tons (24,000 kg) and measuring 20 by 40 feet (6.1 by 12.2 m) fell in Boston's Fort Point Channel Tunnel (which connects to the Ted Williams Tunnel). The panel fell on a car traveling on the two-lane ramp connecting northbound I-93 to eastbound I-90 in South Boston, killing a passenger and injuring the driver. Investigation and repair of the collapse caused a section of the Big Dig project to be closed for almost a full year, causing chronic traffic backups.

World Trade Center station is an underground bus rapid transit station on the MBTA's Silver Line, located south of Congress Street on the South Boston Waterfront. The station is situated between the World Trade Center and the Boston Convention and Exhibition Center; it also serves Commonwealth Pier and nearby residential and commercial development. Like all Silver Line stations, World Trade Center station is accessible.

Anthony's Pier 4 was a restaurant on the South Boston waterfront opened in 1963 by restaurateur Anthony Athanas. In the 1980s it was one of the highest-grossing restaurants in the United States. It closed in 2013 and the site was scheduled for redevelopment.

The Seaport District, or simply the Seaport, is a neighborhood in Boston, Massachusetts. It is part of the larger neighborhood of South Boston, and is also sometimes called the Innovation District. The Seaport is a formerly industrial area that has undergone an extensive redevelopment effort in recent years. It is bordered by the Fort Point Channel to the west, Boston Harbor to the north and east, and the historic residential neighborhood of South Boston to the south. It is officially referred to by the City of Boston as The South Boston Waterfront. The Seaport District is at extreme risk of climate-related flooding over the next 30 years.
