Seaport District

The Big Dig ceiling collapse occurred on July 10, 2006, when a concrete ceiling panel and debris weighing 26 short tons (24,000 kg) and measuring 20 by 40 feet (6.1 by 12.2 m) fell in Boston's Fort Point Channel Tunnel (which connects to the Ted Williams Tunnel). The panel fell on a car traveling on the two-lane ramp connecting northbound I-93 to eastbound I-90 in South Boston, killing a passenger and injuring the driver. Investigation and repair of the collapse caused a section of the Big Dig project to be closed for almost a full year, causing chronic traffic backups.

World Trade Center station is an underground bus rapid transit station on the MBTA's Silver Line, located south of Congress Street on the South Boston Waterfront. The station is situated between the World Trade Center and the Boston Convention and Exhibition Center; it also serves Commonwealth Pier and nearby residential and commercial development. Like all Silver Line stations, World Trade Center station is accessible.

The Partisans is a 1979 aluminum sculpture by the Polish-American sculptor Andrzej Pitynski that has been exhibited in Boston, Massachusetts, since 1983. The sculpture depicts Polish anti-communist "cursed soldiers". It is dedicated to freedom fighters worldwide.

Silver Line Way station is a surface bus rapid transit station on the Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority (MBTA) Silver Line, located on Silver Line Way at Pumphouse Road between Massport Haul Road (Trilling Street) and D Street near the South Boston Waterfront. The station is a block south of the Boston Fish Pier; it also serves the Boston Renaissance Waterfront Hotel and the Leader Bank Pavilion. Changeover between diesel and overhead electric power takes place at the station, similar to Airport Station on the Blue Line. There is a small storage area for trolley buses. The station is the first station at the surface when going outbound from South Station; Courthouse and World Trade Center are both in the Waterfront Tunnel. Like all Silver Line stations, Silver Line Way is accessible.

The Boston Convention and Exhibition Center (BCEC) is an exhibition center in Boston, Massachusetts, United States. It is among the largest exhibition centers in the Northeastern United States, with approximately 516,000 square feet (about 4.8 hectares) of contiguous exhibition space. The main exhibition floor comprises three bays which can be isolated for separate shows or linked into one large space. The center is located on Summer Street near the South Boston waterfront, Boston's World Trade Center, and across the harbor from Logan International Airport. It is about one block south of the World Trade Center station on the MBTA Silver Line, with direct connections to South Station and Logan Airport.

The Massachusetts Convention Center Authority (MCCA) owns and oversees the operation of the Boston Convention & Exhibition Center (BCEC), the John B. Hynes Veterans Memorial Convention Center, The Lawn on D, the MassMutual Center in Springfield, Massachusetts, and the Boston Common Garage. The MCCA controls 30 acres of prime undeveloped land in Boston's South Boston Waterfront.

Fan Expo Boston, formerly Boston Comic Con, is a multigenre convention held annually in Boston, MA. Primarily focused on comic books, the convention later featured media guests from film and television, cosplayers, an art auction, a tabletop/CCG/RPG gaming room, and an annual costume contest. After its acquisition by Informa as part of their Fan Expo line, the 2017 edition retired the Comic Con name and was therefore renamed Fan Expo Boston.

The Boston Fish Pier is the central site for the fishing industry based in Boston, Massachusetts. Located on Northern Avenue in South Boston in Boston's Inner Harbor, the pier has played this role since its establishment in 1910. In the 1920s, it was home to one of the largest fishing fleets in the eastern United States, processing 250 million pounds of fish. The pier and its associated buildings were listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2017. This building is currently under consideration for Boston Landmark status by the Boston Landmarks Commission.

The Metlo Boston (also 399 Congress Street) is a tower in the Seaport area of Boston, Massachusetts. The 22-story mixed-use tower is located adjacent to East Service Road, Congress Street and Boston Wharf Road. The tower has 414 apartment residences, and approximately 2,550 square feet of ground-floor retail. The tower ises 274 feet (83.51 m) when complete in Fall 2019. It is designed by Stantec and Group One Partners.Amenities include a rooftop terrace with outdoor theater and a heated pool; private movie theater; game room; shared co-working space; fitness center; yoga studio; spa treatment rooms; and a resident lounge.

The Seaport Boston Hotel and World Trade Center is a hotel and conference center complex located on the South Boston Waterfront in Boston, Massachusetts. The South Boston Waterfront is also known as the Boston Seaport District and the Innovation District. The World Trade Center part of the complex is located on Commonwealth Pier.

Raymond L. Flynn Marine Park, formerly known as the Boston Marine Industrial Park, is an industrial park which has been created on the Commonwealth Flats in South Boston, Massachusetts, United States. Before its creation, the site was used as the location for the South Boston Naval Annex, the South Boston Army Base, and was used as a general seaport district for many years. Currently, the park is in the process of being redeveloped, and utilizes many of the former military buildings. The Black Falcon Cruise Terminal is located on the site of the former Army base. Also located on the site is the extensive Coastal Cement Corporation facility, designed by HMFH Architects. Completed in 1989, the facility spans 14,000 square feet with four silos that reach 120 feet and collectively store 41,000 tons of cement. The project drew considerable attention for its unconventional architecture, which resulted in several awards including the 1990 New England Regional Council/AIA Honor Award for New Commercial Construction, the Washington Waterfront Center's national Excellence on the Waterfront Award, as well as the Excellence in Concrete Building Design Award from the Portland Cement Association & the Association of General Contractors.A structure on the north side of Black Falcon Avenue, originally constructed in 1918 as an Army warehouse, is now the Innovation and Design Building, which houses the Boston Design Center.In February 2016, the park was renamed in honor of former Boston mayor Raymond Flynn.In June 2017 at least one member of the Massachusetts Legislature (Representative Nick Collins, Democrat from South Boston) expressed a hope that a public/private partnership would enable passenger rail service to be extended along Track 61 out as far as the site.

Commonwealth Flats is a region of former mud flats in South Boston. It has been used over the years as the site of the South Boston Naval Annex, the South Boston Army Base, the Black Falcon Cruise Terminal and various other entities over the years.
