Milton Loch

The Stewartry was a local government district from 1975 until 1996 within the Dumfries and Galloway region in south-west Scotland. Under the name The Stewartry of Kirkcudbright the area of the former district is still used as a lieutenancy area. Dumfries and Galloway Council has a Stewartry area committee which approximately covers the same area, subject to some adjustments where ward boundaries no longer follow the pre-1996 district boundary. The Stewartry covers the majority of the historic county of Kirkcudbrightshire, and derives its name from the county's alternative name of the "The Stewartry of Kirkcudbright".

Springholm is a village in the historical county of Kirkcudbrightshire in Dumfries and Galloway, Scotland. It is located 14 miles (23 km) west of Dumfries on the A75. The village has a primary school, which also serves for the local village of Kirkpatrick Durham. Springholm and Crocketford (2 miles or 3 km to the north-east) are the only two settlements that are not bypassed by the A75. The village is located in the historical county of Kirkcudbrightshire.

Drumcoltran Tower is a late-16th-century tower house situated in the historical county of Kirkcudbrightshire near Kirkgunzeon, Dumfries and Galloway. Like other towers in the area, Drumcoltran was built by a branch of the Maxwell family around 1570 but passed with the estate to the Irvings in 1668. The Maxwells however constructed the existing farm steading and made alterations to the interior of the tower in the 18th century. It was designated a scheduled monument in 1928.

Kirkgunȝeon (Scottish Gaelic: Cill Fhionnain) is a village and civil parish in Dumfries and Galloway, south west Scotland. The village is 10.4 miles (16.7 km) south west of Dumfries and 4.1 miles (6.6 km) north east of Dalbeattie. The civil parish is in the former county of Kirkcudbrightshire, and is bounded by the parishes Lochrutton to the north, Urr to the west, Colvend and Southwick to the south and New Abbey to the east. Kirkgunzeon is recorded in c.1200 as Kirkwynnin. Wynnin represents a Cumbric form of the Gaelic Finnén, a diminutive of Findbarr. William J. Watson takes this to be Findbarr of Moyville. Thomas Clancy argues the name commemorates Uinniau a local British saint, not recorded in literary records.

Kirkgunzeon railway station served the village of Kirkgunzeon, Dumfries and Galloway, Scotland from 1859 to 1950 on the Castle Douglas and Dumfries Railway.

Haugh of Urr (), is a village in the historical county of Kirkcudbrightshire in Dumfries and Galloway, Scotland. It is approximately 4 miles (6 kilometres) NNW of Dalbeattie, 3 mi (5 km) NE of Castle Douglas, 12+1⁄2 mi (20 km) west of Dumfries and 12+1⁄2 mi (20 km) east of Kirkcudbright.

The Motte of Urr is the remains of a 12th-century motte-and-bailey castle located near the Haugh of Urr in Dumfries and Galloway, Scotland.

Southwick (Dumfries & Galloway) railway station served the civil parish of Colvend and Southwick, Dumfries and Galloway, Scotland from 1859 to 1965 on the Castle Douglas and Dumfries Railway.

Killywhan railway station served the hamlet of Killywhan, Dumfries and Galloway, Scotland from 1859 to 1959 on the Castle Douglas and Dumfries Railway.

Edingham Castle is a late 16th-century tower house situated near Dalbeattie, Dumfries and Galloway. It is the remains of an early tower house built for the Livingstones of Little Airds. It is near Edingham Munitions Factory and is a scheduled monument. Edingham Castle was built as a four-story tower in 1570-1585 by the Morrisons. They were succeeded by the Afflecks in 1660. Later, in the 1700s this became the McVicar-Afflecks. It was roofless by 1872 when it was purchased by John Hutinson. The remains measure 8.6 meters x 7.2 meters.

Buittle railway station, also known as Buittle Halt, Buittle Mill and Buittle Mill Halt, served the civil parish of Buittle, Dumfries and Galloway, Scotland from 1862 to 1894 on the Castle Douglas and Dumfries Railway.

Kirkpatrick Durham (Scottish Gaelic: Cill Phàdraig) is a village and parish in the historical county of Kirkcudbrightshire, Dumfries and Galloway, south-west Scotland. It is located 6 miles (9.7 km) north of Castle Douglas.
