The Roscoe Goose House is a historic house at 3012 South Third Street in Louisville, Kentucky. Built about 1891, it is a 2+1⁄2-story brick building with Italianate and later Victorian styling. It has a low-pitch hip roof with bracketed cornice, a wall dormer rising at the center of the front facade, a single-story porch that wraps across the front and around the left side, and a large arched window on the ground floor next to the main entrance. It was home to jockey Roscoe Goose from 1913 until about 1970.The house was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2015.

Holy Name Church Rectory, Convent and School is a historic church at 2920 and 2914 S. 3rd Street and 2911 and 2921 S. 4th Street in Louisville, Kentucky. It was built in 1902 and added to the National Register in 1982. However, in 2022 - despite having been added to the National Register, which protects historic buildings - the Archdiocese of Louisville took legal measures that allowed Catholic Charities to demolish the school building to make a parking lot. The Convent is also due for demolition, though plans for its footprint have yet to be determined. (A local Louisville architectural firm offered to purchase and restore the buildings, which had been illegally neglected by Catholic Charities, but the Archdiocese of Louisville convinced the Court a private parking lot would better serve the community, even though the community advocated for restoration.)

L&N Federal Credit Union Stadium, also known as L&N Stadium and formerly known as Cardinal Stadium and Papa John's Cardinal Stadium, is a football stadium located in Louisville, Kentucky, United States, on the southern end of the campus of the University of Louisville. Debuting in 1998, it serves as the home of the Louisville Cardinals football program. The official seating capacity in the quasi-horseshoe-shaped facility was 42,000 through the 2008 season. An expansion project that started after the 2008 season was completed in time for the 2010 season has brought the official capacity to 55,000. An additional expansion project aiming to close the open end of the horseshoe to add 6,000 additional seats was announced on August 28, 2015, and was completed in 2019.

Epworth Methodist Evangelical Church, also known as Trinity Baptist Temple, is a historic Gothic Revival church at 412 M. Street in Louisville, Kentucky. It was built in 1895 and added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1983.It is a one-story gable-front building. In 1983 it was the oldest of six surviving frame Gothic Revival churches in Louisville.

South Louisville is a neighborhood two miles south of downtown Louisville, Kentucky, US. "South Louisville" or "South Side" is also used to describe the entire area of Southern Louisville. The neighborhood itself is bounded by Industry Road, the CSX railroad tracks, Central Avenue, Taylor Boulevard, Longfield Avenue, Compton Street, Thornberry Avenue, Colorado Avenue, Euclid Avenue, and Lincoln avenue. The world-famous Churchill Downs horse racing track and Kentucky Derby Museum are located in South Louisville. The area was originally owned by the Churchill family and was developed as streetcar lines extended southward to the area in the 1870s. The population grew greatly in the 1890s as many factories were constructed along several rail lines in the area, including the Kentucky Wagon Company. The area flourished and even incorporated as a city in 1886. The city of Louisville fought to annex the area, and did so after a three-year lawsuit, in 1898. As factories in the area closed in the 1970s, the area greatly declined as middle class residents left, leaving behind only low-income residents and abandoned factories. The area began to see new development as the University of Louisville began to expand its campus southward, with a new football stadium completed in 1998, a baseball stadium completed in 2005, and a soccer stadium completed in 2014, all built on former brownfield sites. A shopping center was built in 2004. Several of the abandoned factory buildings are slated to be converted into condominiums in the next few years. In 1937 there was a destructive flood. South Louisville is increasingly becoming an immigrant centered neighborhood, with a large Hispanic and Arab populations. Since 2006, a Mosque and several Middle Eastern food stores have opened in the area. As of 2000, the population of South Louisville was 4,688.

Churchill Downs is a horse racing complex located on Central Avenue in south Louisville, Kentucky, United States, famed for hosting the annual Kentucky Derby. It officially opened in 1875 and was named for Samuel Churchill, whose family was prominent in Kentucky for many years. The first Kentucky Derby, a Thoroughbred sweepstakes and part of today's horse racing Triple Crown, and the first Kentucky Oaks were held in the same year. Churchill Downs has also hosted the renowned Breeders' Cup on nine occasions, most recently on November 2 and 3, 2018.The racetrack is owned and operated by Churchill Downs Incorporated. With the infield open for the Kentucky Derby, the capacity of Churchill Downs is roughly 170,000.In 2009 the Horseplayers Association of North America introduced a rating system for 65 Thoroughbred racetracks in North America, which ranked Churchill Downs number 5 on its list. In 2014, prior to the start of their spring meet, Churchill Downs announced an increase in parimutuel takeout rates. As a result of the takeout increase, Churchill Downs ranked number 22 in that year's Horseplayers Association of North America Track Ratings.

Wilder Park is a neighborhood four miles south of downtown Louisville, Kentucky USA. The area was originally the site of Greenland race course, built in 1866, a sister track of Churchill Downs. Greenland track closed in 1888 and the area became the Wilder Park neighborhood. The first houses in Wilder Park were built off Southern Parkway in 1891. The rest of the area was completed by 1901 as streetcar lines linked the neighborhood to Iroquois Park and new factories in South Louisville. In 1904, Wilder Park was part of the incorporated city of Oakdale, until the city of Louisville annexed it in 1922. A memorial to South Louisville veterans of the Second World War is located in Wilder Park in the 3900 block of south Second Street.

The J. B. Speed School of Engineering was founded in 1924 as part of the University of Louisville in the U.S. state of Kentucky with money from the James Breckenridge Speed Foundation which was created by his children William S. Speed and Olive Speed Sackett to honor J. B. Speed. Until 2003, it was known as the J. B. Speed Scientific School. The school is colloquially referred to as Speed School or just Speed by students and locals.

Dr. Mark & Cindy Lynn Stadium is a soccer-specific stadium for college soccer in Louisville, Kentucky. The stadium was built for the University of Louisville Cardinals Men's and Women's Soccer teams. The teams compete in the Atlantic Coast Conference.

The Kentucky Derby Museum is an American Thoroughbred horse racing museum located on the grounds of Churchill Downs in Louisville, Kentucky. Dedicated to preserving the history of the Kentucky Derby, it first opened its doors to the public in the spring of 1985. Much of its early funding came from a donation from the estate of James Graham Brown. The museum consists of two floors of exhibit space, including a 360-degree theater that shows the HD film The Greatest Race. Through the film and exhibits, visitors can learn what goes into the breeding and training of a young foal and the path it takes to the Kentucky Derby's winner circle. Every Kentucky Derby win is honored in the Warner L. Jones Time Machine, where visitors can watch any Kentucky Derby from 1918 to the present day. Exhibits highlight the stories of owners, trainers and jockeys as well as the importance of African American jockeys and trainers to the race and the Thoroughbred industry. Guided tours of Churchill Downs' barn and infield areas, jockeys' quarters, "millionaires row" and press box are also offered. Exhibits were designed by Bruce Burdick's San Francisco design firm The Burdick Group.

Parkway Field is the name of a baseball park that stood in Louisville, Kentucky on the University of Louisville campus. It was home to college, minor league, and negro league teams, with the longest stints by the Louisville Colonels of the American Association from 1923 into the mid-1950s, and the University of Louisville baseball team for several decades until they abandoned it in 1998 in favor of Cardinal Stadium. The grandstand that allowed professional baseball to be played at the venue in the first half of the 20th century was torn down in 1961.

When founded in 1798, it was one of the first city-owned public colleges in the United States and one of the first universities chartered west of the Allegheny Mountains. The university is mandated by the Kentucky General Assembly to be a "Preeminent Metropolitan Research University". The University of Louisville School of Medicine is touted for the first fully self-contained artificial heart transplant surgery, as well as the first successful hand transplantation in the United States. The University Hospital is also credited with the first civilian ambulance, the nation's first accident services, now known as an emergency department (ED), and one of the first blood banks in the US.University of Louisville is known for the Louisville Cardinals athletics programs. Since 2005, the Cardinals have made appearances in the NCAA Division I men's basketball Final Four in 2005, 2012, and 2013 (vacated), football Bowl Championship Series Orange Bowl in 2007 (champions) and Sugar Bowl in 2013 (champions), the College Baseball World Series 2007, 2013, 2014, 2017 and 2019, the women's basketball Final Four in 2009 (runner-up), 2013 (runner-up), and 2018, and the men's soccer national championship game in 2010. The Louisville Cardinals Women's Volleyball program has three-peated as champions of the Big East Tournament (2008, 2009, 2010), and were Atlantic Coast Conference Champions in 2015 and 2017. Women's track and field program has won Outdoor Big East titles in 2008, 2009 and 2010 and an Indoor Big East title in 2011.
