Children's Academy is a Mumbai-based chain of private co-educational English-medium day schools in Malad and Kandivali in Mumbai. The first school was founded in 1970 by Shri V.V. Bhat in Malad. Currently the schooling of pupils is through affiliations by choice of ICSE of Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations, New Delhi. The three branches of the group are Children's Academy, Ashok Nagar and Children's Academy, Thakur Complex in Kandivali (East) and Children's Academy, Bachani Nagar in Malad (East). The schools caters to pupils from nursery levels to the standard 10th grade examinations. They have more than 8000 students studying in the three schools. The Educational World 2019-20 school rankings placed Children's Academy, Malad as the number one school in the North Mumbai zone while the Malad and Kandivali branches are listed among the top 10 schools in the Education World 2019-20 school rankings. All three schools have received numerous accolades.

The Indian Television Academy (ITA) School of Performing Arts is a school formed as an initiative of The Indian Television Academy and founded by Anu Ranjan and Shashi Ranjan in 2001. It was created with the aim of standardizing the Indian television industry.

Bombay Talkies was a movie studio founded in 1934. During its period of operation, Bombay Talkies produced 40 movies in Malad, a suburb of the Indian city of Bombay. The studio was established in 1934 by Himanshu Rai and Devika Rani. After Rai's death in 1940, Rani took over the studio. Besides the founders, Ashok Kumar was the leading actor of the studio until 1943, when he founded another studio, Filmistan, with Shashadhar Mukherjee. After Rani's retirement, Kumar and Mukherjee took over Bombay Talkies. The company went out of business in 1953. A last film produced by the studio was released in June 1954.

The 1991 Lokhandwala Complex shootout was a gunbattle that occurred on 16 November 1991 at the Lokhandwala Complex, Bombay (now Mumbai), between seven gangsters led by Maya Dolas and members of the Mumbai Police and the Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) led by the then Additional Commissioner of Police, A. A. Khan. The four-hour-long shootout was termed as India's "first daylight encounter" and was videographed and conducted in full view of the public. It ended in the deaths of all seven gangsters, including Dolas, Dilip Buwa and Anil Pawar.
