Arnos Vale Cemetery (grid reference ST606716) (also written Arno's Vale Cemetery), in Arnos Vale, Bristol, England, was established in 1837. Its first burial was in 1839. The cemetery followed a joint-stock model, funded by shareholders. It was laid out as an Arcadian landscape with buildings by Charles Underwood. Most of its area is listed, Grade II*, on the Register of Historic Parks and Gardens of special historic interest in England.Arnos Vale cemetery is on the A4 road from Bristol to Bath, southeast of the city centre towards Brislington, about 1 mile (1.6 km) from Temple Meads railway station and about 2 miles (3.2 km) from Bristol bus station. The cemetery has a number of listed buildings and monuments, including the Grade II* listed Church of England mortuary chapel, Nonconformist mortuary chapel, entrance lodges and gates and the screen walls to main entrance.

Mary Carpenter (3 April 1807 – 14 June 1877) was an English educational and social reformer. The daughter of a Unitarian minister, she founded a ragged school and reformatories, bringing previously unavailable educational opportunities to poor children and young offenders in Bristol. She published articles and books on her work and her lobbying was instrumental in the passage of several educational acts in the mid-nineteenth century. She was the first woman to have a paper published by the Statistical Society of London. She addressed many conferences and meetings and became known as one of the foremost public speakers of her time. Carpenter was active in the anti-slavery movement; she also visited India, visiting schools and prisons and working to improve female education, establish reformatory schools and improve prison conditions. In later years she visited Europe and America, carrying on her campaigns of penal and educational reform. Carpenter publicly supported women's suffrage in her later years and also campaigned for female access to higher education. She is buried in Arnos Vale Cemetery in Bristol and has a memorial in the North transept of Bristol Cathedral.

Waverley F.C. were an English association football club based in Bristol during the Victorian era. Founded in 1889 as an offshoot of Waverley Cricket Club, they were founding members of the second division of the Western Football League (known at the time as the Bristol & District League), and finished bottom of the table in both the 1893–94 and 1894–95 seasons. They moved into the South Bristol & District League in the summer of 1895. Their home ground was behind the Talbot Inn on Wells Road in Knowle.The club appointed local member of parliament Edward Stock Hill as president upon their formation, and a year later fellow MP William Henry Wills was given the role of vice-president.

Knowle Cricket Club Ground is a cricket ground in Bristol. The first recorded match on the ground was in 1894, when Knowle played Frenchay. In 1926 the ground held its first first-class match when Somerset played Hampshire in the County Championship. The following season the ground held a further first-class match when Somerset played Worcestershire. The final first-class match held at the ground came in 1928 when Somerset played Essex.Still in use to this day, the ground is the home venue of Knowle Cricket Club.

Callington Road Hospital is a psychiatric hospital in Bristol, England. Opened in 2006, it primarily replaced Barrow Hospital, providing psychiatric inpatient and community services for Bristol and the surrounding region. It is run by the Avon and Wiltshire Mental Health Partnership NHS Trust.

The Imperial Athletic Ground was a cricket ground in south Bristol owned by the Imperial Tobacco group and used by Somerset. The first first-class match on the ground was in 1957, when Somerset played Sussex in the County Championship. From 1957 to 1966, the ground played host to 9 first-class matches, with the final first-class match held at the ground between Somerset and Hampshire.The ground also hosted List-A matches, the first of which was between Somerset and Gloucestershire in the 1971 John Player League. Between 1971 and 1979, the ground held 8 List-A matches, the last of which was between Somerset and Gloucestershire in the 1979 John Player League.During its existence the ground also played host to Somerset Second XI matches in the Minor Counties Championship, Second XI Championship and Second XI Trophy.In 2000 the ground was sold by the local council and a modern housing estate today covers it.

Totterdown is an inner-suburb of Bristol, England, situated just south of the River Avon and to the south-east of Temple Meads railway station and the city centre. It rises relatively steeply from the river bank to a largely terraced Victorian housing area which is notable for its painted homes - often in bright colours - that can be seen from some distance. There is a tight network of extremely steep roads in Upper Totterdown, of which Vale Street, although very short, is alleged to be the steepest residential road in England.

Brislington railway station was a railway station in Brislington, a suburb of Bristol, England. The station on the Bristol and North Somerset Railway opened on 3 September 1873. It closed to passengers on 31 October 1959 and to goods traffic on 7 October 1963. The site is off Talbot Road, close to the junction with the A4 Bath Road, and is used as a scrap metal yard. Parts of the platforms remain in place, although no buildings survive.

Knowle is a district and council ward in the south east of the city of Bristol in England, United Kingdom. It is bordered by Filwood Park to the west, Brislington to the east, Whitchurch and Hengrove to the south and Totterdown to the north. The settlement was mentioned in the Domesday Book as Canole. Knowle comes from the old English word for hillock, which means a little hill. The majority of amenities are located along Broadwalk Shopping Centre and Wells Road. Several sports clubs are located just south of the shopping centre, such as the Cricket, Tennis and Bowls clubs. The main green space is Redcatch Park, which contains football pitches, tennis courts, a croquet club and a children's play area. The park is protected and events are organised by the Friends of Redcatch Park. Redcatch Community Association run the Redcatch Centre in Redcatch Road, on the boundary of Redcatch Park – a resource for community groups and private and public events. Clubs and groups include the Knowle and Totterdown Local History Group, Redcatch Rollers (Short Mat Bowling), Redcatch Tea Dance, and Redcatch Art Club who all meet at Redcatch Community Centre. Knowle Community Association run a community centre in The Square, Knowle Park, with activities including Knowle East Youth Club. Other organisations are Broad Walk Neighbourhood Watch, which acts as a portal for the local community of Knowle and those in and around Broad Walk, and the St John Ambulance Knowle & Totterdown Division. There are good views of the city just above Perrett Park, along Sylvia Avenue which is lined by Victorian terraces.

Black Castle Public House is a Grade I-listed building and public house on Junction Road in the Brislington suburb of the English city of Bristol. It is also known as Arno's Castle.
