Wycombe Marsh

The Wycombe Summit was a dry ski slope situated in High Wycombe, Buckinghamshire. It has been closed since 22 November 2005, when a fire destroyed the lodge. In November 2016, Wycombe District Council approved a planning application for 30 dwellings on the site. The plans will also bring the neighbouring Deangarden Wood into positive management and enable formal public use to the Woods.

Highcrest Academy, formerly known as Highcrest Community School and before that as Hatters Lane School, is situated on Hatters Lane Hill in High Wycombe, Buckinghamshire. It is currently led by the Headteacher Mr G Burke after Miss Sheena Moynihan turned the school around from being on the edge of closure. In November 2010 it was judged to be an 'outstanding' school by Ofsted. In July 2011 the school became an Academy and was renamed to reflect its new status.It is a mixed secondary school, which takes children from the age of 11 through to the age of 18.In September 2006 the school was designated by the Department for Education and Skills (DfES) as a specialist school in Technology.Highcrest Community School is one of several Buckinghamshire schools which host mobile phone masts. Contracts between Buckinghamshire County Council and various mobile phone operators generate an income of £145,000 per annum, of which about £59,000 comes from contracts for masts that are installed in schools.There are 1,090 pupils at Highcrest Community School: 190 in each of years 7, 8, and 10; 160 in year 9; and 100 in each of years 11, 12 and 13. The school has 55 teachers and 35 support staff.

London Road is a cricket ground in High Wycombe, Buckinghamshire. The first recorded match on the ground was in 1891, when High Wycombe played the House of Commons. The first Minor Counties Championship match held on the ground came in 1895 when Buckinghamshire played Bedfordshire. From 1895 to 2001 the ground has hosted 115 Minor Counties Championship matches, the last of which saw Buckinghamshire play Northumberland. Buckinghamshire returned to the ground in 2010 to play the first MCCA Knockout Trophy match held at the ground, against Wiltshire.The ground has also held List-A matches. The first List-A match held on the ground was between Buckinghamshire and Bedfordshire in the 1970 Gillette Cup. A Minor Counties South team played Worcestershire in the 1979 Benson and Hedges Cup at London Road. The ground held 2 further List-A matches, the last of which saw Buckinghamshire play Somerset in the 1987 NatWest Trophy.In local domestic cricket, the ground is the home venue of High Wycombe Cricket Club who play in the Home Counties Premier Cricket League.

Micklefield is a ward of High Wycombe, Buckinghamshire, located on the eastern side of the town. Surrounded on one side by the Chiltern Hills and King's Wood, it neighbours the villages of Penn and Tylers Green, as well as being adjacent to Wycombe Marsh. Some points in the Micklefield area rise to an altitude of some 450 feet, and there are some great views over the Wycombe valley. Amenities include a Jet petrol station with an attached supermarket, a combined first and middle school (Ash Hill Primary School), and three churches – St Peter's (Church of England), Micklefield Christian Fellowship (Elim Pentecostal Church) and a Seventh-day Adventist church – and a shopping area next to a community library. The library was earmarked for closure by Bucks County Council, but was saved by a local campaign to keep it running. It has been awarded National Lottery grants to rebuild a larger library.In 2006, Micklefield was the subject of international media interest when key aspects of the investigation into the 2006 transatlantic aircraft plot focused on local homes and a five-month-long search of King's Wood was conducted by police.

Marlow United Football Club is a football club based in Marlow, Buckinghamshire, England. They were established in 1977 and were among the founding members of the Reading Football League in 1989.

Flackwell Heath Football Club is a football club based in Flackwell Heath, near High Wycombe in Buckinghamshire, England. Affiliated to the Berks & Bucks Football Association, they are currently members of the Combined Counties League Premier Division North and play at Wilks Park.

Bowerdean, Micklefield and Totteridge is a political division of Buckinghamshire County Council in Buckinghamshire, England. It is a two-seat constituency and at the last election Julia Wassell and Chaudhary Ditta, both representing the Labour Party were returned. In 2008, Julia Wassell and Chaudhary Ditta both switched their allegiance to the Liberal Democrats.

Gomm Valley is a 4.1-hectare (10-acre) biological Site of Special Scientific Interest in Micklefield, a district of High Wycombe in Buckinghamshire. It is managed by the Berkshire, Buckinghamshire and Oxfordshire Wildlife Trust and is part of the Chilterns Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. The local planning authority is Wycombe District Council.The site is chalk grassland which is reverting to scrub. It has a rich variety of herbs and of invertebrates, and is notable for reptiles and over-wintering birds, particularly thrushes. Over 30 species of butterflies and 180 of moths have been recorded.There is access by a footpath from Gomm Road.

Sheepridge is a hamlet in the parish of Little Marlow, in Buckinghamshire, England. The hamlet is located in a small indentation of an outlying part of the Chiltern Hills. It can be found on Sheepridge Lane, which connects Flackwell Heath to Well End and Bourne End. There are a few houses and one public house, The Crooked Billet.

Flackwell Heath is a village in the civil parish of Chepping Wycombe on the outskirts of High Wycombe, Buckinghamshire, England. With an elevation of about 150 metres (490 ft), in the Chiltern Hills. It has a population of around 6000.

Gomm's Wood is an 18.1 hectares (45 acres) Local Nature Reserve in High Wycombe in Buckinghamshire. It is owned and managed by Wycombe District Council.The site has areas of chalk grassland, ancient and young woodland and scrub. The woods are coppiced to maintain their varied structure, and they have a range of bird species such as bullfinches and woodpeckers. The grassland has at least eight species of orchid, and butterflies include the silver-washed fritillary.Access points include Forest Way, Herbert Road and Cock Lane.

RAF Daws Hill was a Ministry of Defence site, located near High Wycombe and Flackwell Heath, in Buckinghamshire, England, close to the M40 motorway. The station was established in 1942 on land owned by Wycombe Abbey School, for use by the United States military. Initially used by the United States Army Air Forces, RAF Daws Hill was used in its later years by the United States Navy. It became an important part of US defence in the United Kingdom during the 1980s, housing a nuclear bunker with a control centre for the direction of nuclear bombers and cruise missiles. As a result of this and the wider presence of US nuclear weapons on British soil during the 1980s and 1990s, the site became home to a peace camp between 1982 and 1985. Following a review of Ministry of Defence properties in the south-east of England, the station closed in 2007 and the site was sold to a property developer in 2011. The station's nuclear bunker received Grade II* listed status from English Heritage in October 2013, and much of the remaining site was cleared for redevelopment as housing during 2015.
