The Basel Action Network (BAN), a charitable non-governmental organization, works to combat the export of toxic waste from technology and other products from industrialized societies to developing countries. BAN is based in Seattle, Washington, United States, with a partner office in the Philippines. BAN is named after the Basel Convention, a 1989 United Nations treaty designed to control and prevent the dumping of toxic wastes, particularly on developing countries. BAN serves as an unofficial watchdog and promoter of the Basel Convention and its decisions.

The Maynard Building is a five-story office building in Seattle, Washington. Constructed in 1892 on a Romanesque Revival design by Albert Wickersham, the masonry building was originally known as the Dexter Horton Building and housed Dexter Horton's nascent banking business, which eventually grew into Seafirst Bank. Located at 119 First Avenue South in the city's Pioneer Square neighborhood, the building took its current name in the 1920s in honor of Doc Maynard. The Maynard Building underwent a major refurbishment between 1974 and 1975.The Maynard Building was constructed on the site of a previous building also known as the Dexter Horton Building. During the Seattle riot of 1886 Governor Watson Squire's martial law decree was read from the steps of that building to "yells and howls of defiance" from the assembled mob.

The Garden of Allah was a mid-20th century gay cabaret that opened in 1946 in the basement of the Victorian-era Arlington Hotel in Seattle's Pioneer Square. It was Seattle's most popular gay cabaret in the late 1940s and 1950s and one of the first gay-owned gay bars in the United States. Prior to becoming a cabaret, the space had been a speakeasy, during Prohibition, and then a tavern. The Garden catered to all factions of the LGBT community, though heterosexual patrons, tourists and military personnel on leave also visited. Acts were primarily female impersonation, though some male impersonators also performed; the former sometimes included striptease. One act was the professional female-impersonation Jewel Box Revue, though that act was largely geared to and supported by hetero people.Patrons report that the cabaret became like a "family" or "support group," and Don Paulson, author of An Evening at the Garden of Allah: A Gay Cabaret in Seattle, noted that he believes the sense of community and group consciousness produced by the Garden was what made the gay rights movement of later decades possible.The Garden closed in 1956, when a combination of a rate raise from the musicians' union and a raise in city taxes on locales that provided both entertainment and alcohol put it out of business.

Dead Line is a bar and restaurant in Pioneer Square, Seattle, in the U.S. state of Washington. Owned by Erik Hunter, the bar was established in 2017 and serves Latin/South American cuisine.

The OK Hotel was an American bar and music venue located under the Alaskan Way Viaduct in Seattle's Pioneer Square district. The club's 15-year-plus life span came to an end with the Nisqually earthquake of February 28, 2001, which damaged numerous buildings in the historic district.Most widely recognized as a prominent location in the movie Singles (1992), the OK Hotel was one of numerous active Seattle rock venues during the celebrated local scene of the late eighties. The first musical group to play live at the venue was local band Seers of Bavaria, featuring future bass player for pop-punk band Flop Paul Schurr on lead vocals. The club's debut headliner was Vexed, also from Seattle. Local bands such as Tad, Mother Love Bone, The U-Men, Screaming Trees, Green River (an early version of Mudhoney), Soundgarden, Bikini Kill, and Nirvana (including the first live performance of "Smells Like Teen Spirit" on April 17, 1991) played at the OK Hotel; as well as touring punk, rock, and continental jazz artists. It is mentioned in "Thanx", the last track on Sublime's debut album 40 Oz. to Freedom. It was also where Queens of the Stone Age played their first live show.During the final years preceding the Earthquake, the OK Hotel had become a treasured home for Seattle's lively creative music culture, featuring artists Bill Frisell, Amy Denio, Robin Holcomb, Wayne Horvitz with Zony Mash and Ponga, the Living Daylights, Sweet Water, Medicine Hat, Black Cat Orchestra, and hip-hop group The Physics. Renovation of the building was completed in 2004 as residential property with 42 living spaces and artist studios which are open to the public during First Thursday Artwalks.

Shelly's Leg was the first openly operated gay bar in Seattle. It operated from 1973 until sometime c. 1978.

The Great Seattle Fire was a fire that destroyed the entire central business district of Seattle, Washington on June 6, 1889. The conflagration lasted for less than a day, burning through the afternoon and into the night, and during the same summer as the Great Spokane Fire and the Great Ellensburg Fire. Seattle quickly rebuilt using brick buildings that sat 20 feet (6.1 m) above the original street level. Its population swelled during reconstruction, becoming the largest city in the newly admitted state of Washington.

Crescent Foods, Inc., was a Seattle, Washington, spice and flavorings company founded in 1883 that was bought by McCormick & Company in 1989.

The Episcopal Diocese of Olympia, also known as the Episcopal Church in Western Washington, is a diocese of the Episcopal Church in Washington state west of the Cascade Range. It is one of 17 dioceses and an area mission that make up Province 8. The diocese started as a missionary district in 1853 and was formally established in 1910. It comprises 25,490 members in 92 congregations. The name of the diocese refers to the region of "Olympia" and is not related to the state capital Olympia. The see city is Seattle, with St. Mark's, Seattle the cathedral church of the diocese. The diocese is led by the Right Reverend Greg Rickel, the 8th Bishop of Olympia.

Diamond Parking is a company based in Seattle, Washington that owns and operates parking lots in the US states of Alaska, California, Hawaii, Idaho, Montana, Oregon, Utah, Florida and Washington and the Canadian provinces of Alberta and British Columbia. It was founded in 1922 by Josef Diamond.

The Mutual Life Building, originally known as the Yesler Building, is an historic office building located in Seattle's Pioneer Square neighborhood that anchors the West side of the square. The building sits on one of the most historic sites in the city; the original location of Henry Yesler's cookhouse that served his sawmill in the early 1850s and was one of Seattle's first community gathering spaces. It was also the site of the first sermon delivered and first lawsuit tried in King County. By the late 1880s Yesler had replaced the old shanties with several substantial brick buildings including the grand Yesler-Leary Building, which would all be destroyed by the Great Seattle Fire in 1889. The realignment of First Avenue to reconcile Seattle's clashing street grids immediately after the fire would split Yesler's corner into two pieces; the severed eastern corner would become part of Pioneer Square park, and on the western lot Yesler would begin construction of his eponymous block in 1890 to house the First National Bank, which had previously been located in the Yesler-Leary Building. Portland brewer Louis Feurer began construction of a conjoined building to the west of Yesler's at the same time. Progress of both would be stunted and the original plans of architect Elmer H. Fisher were dropped by the time construction resumed in 1892. It would take 4 phases and 4 different architects before the building reached its final form in 1905. The Mutual Life Insurance Company of New York only owned the building for 13 years (from 1896 to 1909), but it would retain their name even after the company moved out in 1916. Though well maintained as an office building into the 1940s under the ownership of the Shafer Brothers, by the 1950s the building was largely vacant and deteriorating, becoming a poster child of the blight facing the Pioneer Square neighborhood and in the early 1960s was recognized as one of the most historically significant buildings on the square. The building became the birthplace of Seattle's historic preservation movement and the first headquarters for Historic Seattle. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1970 as a contributing property in the Pioneer Square Historic District but was not fully restored until the early 1980s, which returned its use to office space.

The Pioneer Square Pergola is a cast iron and glass pergola in Pioneer Square, a park in Downtown Seattle, Washington, United States. It was built in 1909 to shelter passengers waiting for cable cars on the James Street and Yesler Way lines. The pergola is located at the intersection of 1st Avenue and Yesler Way, and was designated a National Historic Landmark in 1977 alongside the adjacent Pioneer Building and totem pole.The structure originally included an underground public bathroom that was closed after the end of cable car service in the 1940s. After decades of deterioration, the pergola was restored by the city government in 1972 with an extensive renovation and dedicated as part of Pioneer Square plaza. It was rebuilt entirely in 2001 after the pergola was destroyed by a semi-truck collision, costing $3.4 million. The rebuilt pergola has since been reinforced and protected against future collisions, but has suffered damage in other incidents.
