The company is headquartered on the Coldstream Research Campus in Lexington, Kentucky and has manufacturing plants in Duffield, Virginia and Albuquerque, New Mexico.Tempur-Pedic was originally based on NASA's research to develop a material that would cushion aircraft seats and improve survivability in the event of an accident.

Masterson Station is a neighborhood in northwestern Lexington, Kentucky, United States. Its boundaries are Masterson Station Park on the west, Leestown Road to the south, Greendale Road to the east, and Spurr Road to the north.

Blackburn Correctional Complex (BCC) is a minimum-security state prison located near Lexington, Kentucky. It opened in 1972 and had a prison population of 594 as of 2007.It is named for former Kentucky governor Luke P. Blackburn, who is known as the "father of prison reform in Kentucky."

John Bell House in Lexington, Kentucky, also known as Stonehigh or John Webb House was built in c. 1810 by John Bell. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1983.It is a two-story stone house built c.1810 with a one-story stone ell built at the same time. It also has a one-story brick ell built c.1840 to serve as a kitchen. In 1982 was in excellent condition. It was then in a picturesque rural setting but is now within Lexington.The property includes a brick smokehouse, a two-story spring house and granary, and more.

Rood & Riddle Equine Hospital was established in Lexington, Kentucky in 1986 as a partnership between veterinarians William Rood and Thomas Riddle. Highland Parks is a neighborhood in northwest Lexington, Kentucky, United States. It is a new subdivision started in the mid-2000s, located between the older Highlands and Oakwood neighborhoods. It is located south of Birch Drive and north of Boxwood Drive. It is bounded by Georgetown Road to the west and Oakwood Park to the east.

Lexington Veterans Affairs Medical Center, located in Lexington, Kentucky, is 199 bed medical facility owned by the United States Department of Veterans Affairs. The Lexington Veterans Affairs Medical Center is a fully accredited, two-division, tertiary care medical center with an operating bed complement of 199 hospital beds. Acute medical, neurological, surgical and psychiatric inpatient services are provided at the Cooper Division, located adjacent to the University of Kentucky Medical Center. The veteran population in Lexington's primary service area is estimated at more than 92,000. The Lexington VA Medical Center is part of the VA MidSouth Healthcare Network, which consists of six VA medical centers in Kentucky, Tennessee, and West Virginia with community-based outpatient clinics (CBOCs) in those states as well as Arkansas, Mississippi, Virginia, and Indiana. Currently, the Lexington VA Medical Center operates four community-based outpatient clinics (CBOC) in Berea, Somerset, Morehead, and Hazard to provide primary care services to veterans located outside the Lexington area.

Oakwood is a neighborhood in northwestern Lexington, Kentucky, United States. Its boundaries are Georgetown Road to the west, Oakwood Park to the east, the Nandino Parkway industrial complex to the south, and the newer Highland Park neighborhood to the north.

Meadowthorpe is a neighborhood in western Lexington, Kentucky, United States. Its boundaries are Leestown Road to the south, New Circle Road to the west, and Norfolk Southern railroad tracks to the north and east. Since 2000, areas south of Leestown Road have seen residential and commercial development in Townley Center. This area is not a part of the Meadowthorpe neighborhood. Schools in the area are Meadowthorpe Elementary and Leestown Middle School.

The Federal Medical Center, Lexington (FMC Lexington) is a United States federal prison in Kentucky for male or female inmates requiring medical or mental health care. It is designated as an administrative facility, which means that it holds inmates of all security classifications. It is operated by the Federal Bureau of Prisons, a division of the United States Department of Justice. The facility also has an adjacent minimum-security satellite camp for female inmates. FMC Lexington is located 7 miles (11 km) north of Lexington and 20 miles (32 km) southeast of Frankfort, the state capital.

High Security Unit (HSU) was a "control" unit for women within the Federal Medical Center in Lexington, Kentucky. In the less than two years that the HSU was operational it became a focus of national and international concern over human rights abuses. It was opened in 1986 by the U.S. Federal Bureau of Prisons (BOP). This special unit of 16 isolation cells was sealed off in a basement from the other prisoners. Reports from different human rights organization including Amnesty International brought the attention to the existence of the unit and the inhumane treatment of prisoners.
