Asagiri Station (朝霧駅, Asagiri-eki) is a passenger railway station located in the city of Akashi, Hyōgo Prefecture, Japan, operated by the West Japan Railway Company (JR West).

The Akashi pedestrian bridge accident (明石歩道橋事故, Akashi hodōkyō jiko) was a human crush that occurred on 21 July 2001 in Akashi, Hyōgo, Japan. In the incident, a large crowd of people packed into a partially enclosed pedestrian overpass leading to Asagiri Station after a fireworks show. The resulting crush killed 11 people, including two adults and nine children, and injured 183 others. Five civic and security officials were later convicted of professional negligence for not preventing the disaster.

Koike Dam (Japanese: 小池ダム) is an earthfill dam located in Hyogo Prefecture in Japan. The dam is used for flood control and irrigation. The catchment area of the dam is 0.3 km2. The dam can store 64 thousand cubic meters of water. The construction of the dam was started on 1988 and completed in 1990.

Ikawadani Station (伊川谷駅, Ikawadani-eki) is a metro station in Nishi-ku, Kobe, Hyōgo Prefecture, Japan.

Tarumi (垂水区, Tarumi-ku) is one of nine wards of Kobe, Japan. It has an area of 26.89 km², and a population of 219,958 (2008). Tarumi is a suburban area in western Kobe, providing residential towns for commuters to downtown Kobe and even Osaka. The Akashi Kaikyō Bridge starts from this ward toward Awaji Island. The area belonged to the Akashi Domain of Harima Province until the end of the Edo period. In 1899 the village of Tarumi was formed within Akashi District. In 1928 Tarumi village was renamed as a town. In July 1941, Tarumi merged into Kobe and became a part of Suma ward.The modern Tarumi ward was formed from the area of the former Tarumi town in 1946. In 1947 a further seven villages from Akashi District merged into Kobe and became a part of Tarumi until 1982 when they were split off into the separate Nishi ward.There is a port in the area, which is used by the coastal fishing industry, which is famous for ikanago (玉筋魚) (Ammodytes personatus, the Pacific sandeel—a species of sand lance) and sushi.

Kakinomoto Shrine (柿本神社 Kakinomoto-jinja) is a Shinto shrine in Akashi, Hyōgo. It is also referred to as Hitomaru-san. The shrine's principal deity is Kakinomoto no Hitomaro, a historical figure who is reputed to have passed through the Akashi area during his life, and who was deified in the centuries following his death, as a god of literature, scholarship, fire safety, and childbirth. According to tradition, the shrine was founded in 887 by the monk Kakushō, in the grounds of the Gesshō-ji temple. It moved to its current location to accommodate the construction of Akashi Castle.

This station is the closest on the line to the Akashi Kaikyō Bridge, which is directly above the station and is also in close proximity to Kyogo Prefectural Maiko Park.

Akashi (明石市, Akashi-shi) is a city in southern Hyōgo Prefecture, Japan. As of 1 May 2022, the city had an estimated population of 304,274 in 135,323 households and a population density of 6,200 people per km². The total area of the city is 49.42 square kilometres (19.08 sq mi).
