Kensington is an inner-city suburb in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia, 4 km (2.5 mi) north-west of Melbourne's Central Business District, located within the City of Melbourne local government area. Kensington recorded a population of 10,745 at the 2021 census.Kensington is known for its village feel, cafes, and diversity of architecture - including Victorian terraces, cottages, warehouse apartments and new structures in the west of the suburb. The suburb is hilly in sections and contains established tree lined streets. The suburb is bounded by Racecourse Road to the north, Smithfield Road and the Maribyrnong River to the west, Dynon Road to the south, and Moonee Ponds Creek to the east. Kensington was once home to one of Victoria's major abattoirs and livestock saleyards, an army ordnance depot and a number of factories. The stock yards ceased operation in 1984, prompting significant urban renewal in the area now known as Kensington Banks. Kensington was named after Kensington in London.

Kensington Town Hall is a former municipal hall in Kensington, Victoria, Australia. The classical style building, located in Bellair Street was first constructed in 1901.During World War II it was used as a command post. It served as a legal centre in the 1980s. It is heritage listed and currently operates as a community centre, dance and ballet school. The building is currently being restored, with work being done to preserve the facade and foundations of the building. The restored building was officially reopened by the Lord Mayor of Melbourne Robert Doyle on 28 February 2015, after a $4.8 million renovation.

Macaulay railway station is located on the Upfield line in Victoria, Australia. It serves the inner northern Melbourne suburb of North Melbourne, and it opened on 1 December 1887 as Macaulay Road. It was renamed Macaulay on 1 May 1909.The station is located beside the Moonee Ponds Creek to its west, and surrounded mainly by factories and warehouses. Kensington, on the Craigieburn line, is only 400 m (1,300 ft) west of Macaulay, and is significantly closer to the residential area and handles a larger number of commuters. The station is also located at ground level, beneath the CityLink tollway, which is supported atop concrete columns that are located outside the platform fencing.

J.J. Holland Park is a large multi-use park in the Melbourne suburb of Kensington. It is named after John Joseph Holland (1877–1955), who was the Member of the Legislative Assembly for Flemington for over 30 years from 1925. The park is freehold land owned by the City of Melbourne, covers approximately 10 hectares, and is triangular shaped.

South Kensington railway station is located on the Werribee and Williamstown lines in Victoria, Australia. It serves the inner north-western Melbourne suburb of Kensington, and opened on 11 March 1891.Freight lines run to the south of the station. The closest of those lines are used by V/Line to reverse empty services from Traralgon and Bairnsdale, while the tracks further south are used by a variety of standard gauge freight operators. The lines to the east join Melbourne Yard, while those to the west are the South Kensington–West Footscray set of lines that lead to either South Dynon or West Footscray, via the Bunbury Street tunnel. All the private sidings that formerly existed around South Kensington have now been closed. They included a siding to a large wool store to the north-east (now demolished), one to a warehouse and silos to the east (open but no longer served by rail), and two sidings to the north serving the Melbourne City Council abattoirs and Kenstore, a military warehouse complex that opened during World War II. In 1972, the platforms were extended at the down end of the station. In 1975, the present platform shelters were provided, when the station was modified to accommodate the quadruplication of the line to Footscray. The disused station office, located near the entrance to the pedestrian underpass on Childers Street, was also provided around that time. On 1 July of that year, parcel facilities at the station were abolished. The following year, in November 1976, the quadruplicated line between South Kensington and Footscray was provided.The current configuration of the station dates from 2014, as part of the Regional Rail Link (RRL) project. The goods-only tracks immediately to the south of the station were replaced by a pair of tracks used by regional passenger services operating to and from Southern Cross. The signal box, formerly located at the up end of the down platform (Platform 2), was demolished to make way for the new RRL tracks. A mural outside the station on Childers Street was funded by the City–Maribyrnong River arm of the project, but it has since been painted over. In 2020, in a survey conducted by the RACV, South Kensington was ranked as the worst railway station in Victoria.

Flemington is an inner-city suburb in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia, 5 km (3.1 mi) north-west of Melbourne's Central Business District, located within the Cities of Melbourne and Moonee Valley local government areas. Flemington recorded a population of 7,025 at the 2021 census.Flemington is located between the Maribyrnong River and the Moonee Ponds Creek and includes the locality of Newmarket, in which the main commercial area Racecourse Road is located. The suburb was named by settler James Watson after Flemington Estate in Scotland. Another version of the origin of the name relates to Robert Fleming, a Brunswick resident who had owned land beside the Saltwater River and operated a butchery there. The Melbourne Cup Thoroughbred horse race has been held at Flemington Racecourse since 1861.

Flemington was an electoral district of the Victorian Legislative Assembly. It was created in 1904 with the abolition of Essendon and Flemington. The new seat was won by the former Labor member for the abolished seat, Edward Warde. Flemington was abolished in 1945 when several new districts were created, including Moonee Ponds. Flemington was created again in 1955 but was abolished once more in 1967, with its territory being incorporated into Essendon.

Flemington Bridge railway station is located on the Upfield line in Victoria, Australia. It serves the inner-northern Melbourne suburbs of Flemington and North Melbourne, and it opened on 10 April 1885 as Flemington. It was renamed Flemington Bridge on 3 December of that year.The station is located on an embankment between the Mount Alexander Road and Racecourse Road rail overpasses. The CityLink tollway overpass is located a short distance west of the station.

Arden Street Oval (also known as North Melbourne Cricket Ground) is a sports oval in North Melbourne, Victoria. It is currently the training base of the North Melbourne Football Club, an Australian rules football club, and up to the end of the 1985 season it was used as the team's home ground for Victorian Football League (VFL) matches.
