St Ethelbert's Church, Slough

The Heart of Slough project is a £400 million plan to redevelop the town centre in Slough, Berkshire. Begun in 2009, it aims to create a "cultural quarter" for the creative media, information and communications industries in the town. Part of the renovation has been funded by a middle-eastern business.

Slough was, from 1863 to 1974, a local government district in southern Buckinghamshire, England. It became an urban district in 1894 and was incorporated as a municipal borough in 1938. It was abolished in 1974 and now forms part of the borough of Slough in Berkshire.

Observatory House was the name of an 18th century observatory established by William and Caroline Herschel in Windsor Street, Slough. After the original building had been demolished, the name was re-applied to a modern office block on the same site which now serves as the headquarters of Slough Borough Council.

William Herschel's 40-foot telescope, also known as the Great Forty-Foot telescope, was a reflecting telescope constructed between 1785 and 1789 at Observatory House in Slough, England. It used a 48-inch (120 cm) diameter primary mirror with a 40-foot-long (12 m) focal length (hence its name "Forty-Foot"). It was the largest telescope in the world for 50 years. It may have been used to discover Enceladus and Mimas, the 6th and 7th moons of Saturn. It was dismantled in 1840 by Herschel's son John Herschel due to safety concerns; today the original mirror and a 10-foot (3.0 m) section of the tube remain.

The Slough rail accident happened on 16 June 1900 at Slough railway station on the Great Western Main Line when an express train from London Paddington to Falmouth Docks ran through two sets of signals at danger, and collided with a local train heading for Windsor & Eton Central. Five passengers were killed; 35 were seriously injured, and 90 complained of shock or minor injuries Significant consequences of the accident were the adoption of improved vacuum braking systems on locomotives and passenger rolling stock, and the introduction of Automatic Train Control (ATC) in 1908.

Slough railway station, in Slough, Berkshire, England, is on the Great Western Main Line, halfway between London Paddington and Reading. It is 18 miles 36 chains (18.45 mi; 29.7 km) down the line from the zero point at Paddington and is situated between Langley to the east and Burnham to the west. The station is just to the north of the town centre, on the north side of the A4. It is served by Great Western Railway, with services to Paddington, Reading, Oxford, and Didcot Parkway; and by the Elizabeth line on local services between Abbey Wood and Reading. It is the terminus for trains from Windsor on the Windsor branch.

Slough is a constituency represented in the House of Commons of the UK Parliament by Tan Dhesi, a member of the Labour Party, since the 2017 UK general election. Slough had previously been represented since 1997 by Fiona Mactaggart, also of the Labour Party, until she stepped down from politics.

St Mary's Parish Church is a red brick gothic style Church of England parish church in the parish of Upton cum Chalvey in the borough of Slough and the county of Berkshire in England. Built between 1876–8 to a design by John Oldrid Scott and partly funded through a personal donation by Queen Victoria, it was again enlarged in 1911–1913, and is protected as a grade II* listed building. The grounds contain the grade II listed war memorial by the west door of the church, inscribed with over 300 names of the dead from Slough in the First and Second World Wars. The walls and gates of the church yard are also protected grade II listed features. The church is located centrally in the parish, serving the Slough town centre. The church is linked to two schools in the area, Saint Mary's Church of England Primary School, in Upton, and Slough and Eton Church of England Secondary School, in Chalvey. The building regularly plays host to musical concerts, often including accompaniment on the organ

Time 106.6 was a local commercial radio station for Slough, Maidenhead and Windsor. Time played a variety of music from the 1970s, 1980s, 1990s, 2000s and today, with a strapline of 'all time favourites'. The station was available on FM on 106.6 MHz and online.

Slough () is a town in the unitary authority of the same name in Berkshire, England, bordering Greater London. It lies in the Thames Valley, 20 miles (32 km) west of central London and 19 miles (31 km) north-east of Reading, at the intersection of the M4, M40 and M25 motorways. Chalvey Road was a cricket ground in Slough, Buckinghamshire. Slough Cricket Club moved to the ground in 1899, with the first recorded match on the ground in 1904, when Buckinghamshire played Berkshire in the Minor Counties Championship. From 1904 to 1998 the ground hosted 57 Minor Counties Championship matches, the last of which saw Buckinghamshire play Norfolk. Buckinghamshire also played a single MCCA Knockout Trophy match held at the ground, against Oxfordshire in 1992. In 1999, Berkshire played an MCCA Knockout Trophy match against the Sussex Cricket Board.The ground has also held List-A matches. The first List-A match held on the ground was between a combined Minor Counties and Middlesex in the 1981 Benson and Hedges Cup. From 1981 to 1986, the ground hosted 5 List-A matches, the last of which saw a combined Minor Counties side play Northamptonshire in the 1986 Benson and Hedges Cup.In local domestic cricket, the ground was the home venue of Slough Cricket Club from 1899 to 1999, when after 100 years of playing at the ground, the club moved to a new purpose built ground at Upton Court Road, which was held both Buckinghamshire and Berkshire home matches. The ground has since been developed with housing.
