St John the Baptist's Church is in Church Lane, Broughton, Lancashire, England. It is an active Anglican parish church in the deanery of Preston, the archdeaconry of Lancaster, and the diocese of Blackburn. Its benefice is united with those of St Martin, Fulwood, and St Peter, Fulwood. The church is recorded in the National Heritage List for England as a designated Grade II* listed building.

Broughton is a village and civil parish in the City of Preston, Lancashire, England, approximately 4 miles (6 km) north of Preston city centre. According to the 2001 census it had a population of 1,735, decreasing to 1,722 at the 2011 Census, increasing to 2,467 at the 2021. The parish is included in Preston Rural East ward of Preston city council, and the Preston Rural division of Lancashire County council. The parish (officially Broughton-in-Amounderness) was part of Preston Rural District throughout its existence from 1894 to 1974. In 1974 the parish became part of the Borough of Preston, which became a city in 2002.

Broughton High School is a coeducational secondary school located in Broughton in the English county of Lancashire.Established in 1975, it is a community school administered by Lancashire County Council. The school was awarded specialist status in business and enterprise, and was renamed Broughton Business and Enterprise College for a time. Broughton High School offers GCSEs, BTECs, NVQs and City and Guilds courses as programmes of study for pupils. Some courses are offered in conjunction with Preston's College and Myerscough College.

Sharoe Green () is a largely residential suburban area of Preston, Lancashire, England, and an electoral ward. It is nowadays usually considered to be a district of the larger suburb of Fulwood (and formed part of the pre-1974 Fulwood Urban District). Royal Preston Hospital, the largest hospital in Lancashire and sole main provider of NHS hospital treatment in Preston, is within the ward boundaries, as is Preston College, a number of secondary and primary schools, and Preston Golf Course. Sharoe Green is a district of Preston with its near neighbour Sherwood, positioned to the far northeast of the city centre adjoining Deepdale. Its major transport links are served by the local and national bus routes criss-crossing its boundaries. The ward of Sharoe Green is a three-member electoral division, returning three councillors to Town Hall. At Lancashire County Council, Sharoe Green is predominantly covered by the Preston North division (County Councillor Ron Woollam (Conservative), with areas of Sharoe Green south of St Vincent's Road represented in the Preston Central East division (County Councillor Frank De Molfetta, Labour). Sharoe Green is currently within the boundaries of the Wyre and Preston North parliamentary constituency, however, following the 2023 Boundary Commission review, at the next General Election, Sharoe Green will be within the Ribble Valley constituency.

Fulwood Academy (formerly Fulwood High School) is a coeducational secondary school located in Fulwood, Preston) in the English county of Lancashire.Previously a community school administered by Lancashire County Council, Fulwood High School converted to academy status on 1 September 2009 and was renamed Fulwood Academy. The school is sponsored by Charles Dunstone through a charitable trust, the Dunstone Education Trust.Fulwood Academy offers GCSEs and BTECs as programmes of study for pupils. Fulwood Academy's leadership has been in question over a number of years now, with the school having 5 headteachers (including interim headteachers). The current headteacher is Andrew Galbraith.

Corpus Christi Catholic High School is a coeducational secondary school located in Fulwood (near Preston) in the English county of Lancashire.It is a voluntary aided school administered by Lancashire County Council and the Roman Catholic Diocese of Lancaster. The school offers GCSEs, BTECs and vocational courses as programmes of study for pupils.The Jack McLaughlin Engineering Centre is located at the front of the school grounds. It is a study centre for engineering and auto-engineering, with pupils from Corpus Christi and other local schools able to attend.

Broughton railway station served the village of Broughton, Lancashire, England, from June to November 1840 on the Lancaster and Preston Junction Railway.

The Street That Cut Everything is a British television documentary presented by BBC political editor Nick Robinson. Billed as a social experiment, 50 residents of a street in Preston, Lancashire were persuaded to go without all council services for six weeks, and work together to run their own community with the aid of the Council Tax rebates they received for not having local authority services. One of the film's objectives was to highlight the issue of cuts in public spending, but the programme attracted criticism for the nature in which the experiment was conducted. One major point of concern involved dogs being allowed to excessively foul the street, which the residents were then required to clean up, something which raised public health concerns. The programme was aired in two episodes on Monday 16 May 2011.

It is nowadays usually considered to be a district of the larger suburb of Fulwood (and formed part of the pre-1974 Fulwood Urban District), but was historically separate as evidenced, for instance, in the name of the private home from which the name is taken. There are two golf courses within the ward, and a cricket club. The main A6 Garstang road forms its eastern boundary. Greyfriars is a district of Preston positioned to the far north of the city centre near the M55 motorway interchange. The West Coast Main Line runs through the area, although its major transport links are served by the local and national bus routes criss-crossing its boundaries. The ward of Greyfriars is a three-member electoral division, returning three councillors to Town Hall. With the neighbouring Cadley ward, it forms the Preston North division of Lancashire County Council. At the 2001 census, the population of Greyfriars was 4,698, with over 85% regarding themselves as Christian. At the 2008 local elections in Preston, Greyfriars had a valid electorate of 5,262,. At the 2011 Census the population was 6,404.

Cadley is a largely residential suburban area of Preston, Lancashire, England, and an electoral ward. The population of the ward taken at the 2011 census was 4,589. It is usually considered to be a district of the larger suburb of Fulwood (and formed part of the pre-1974 Fulwood Urban District), but was historically separate as evidenced, for instance, in the name of Fulwood and Cadley County Primary School. Cadley is a district of Preston positioned to the north of the city centre, with two main roads to its east and west; the B5411 Woodplumpton Road to its west, Black Bull Lane to its east. The West Coast Main Line runs through the area, although its major transport links are served by the local and national bus routes criss-crossing its boundaries. The ward of Cadley is a two-member electoral division, returning two councillors to Town Hall. With the neighbouring Greyfriars ward, it forms the Preston North division of Lancashire County Council. At the 2001 census, the population of Cadley was 4,698, with over 85% regarding themselves as Christian. At the most recent election in Cadley, the 2010 by-election, the total valid electorate was 3,772. In 2006 there was an electorate of 3,746, whilst the elections in 2008 had an electorate of 3,778.
