Mensingeweer is a small village in the Netherlands; it is located in the municipality of Het Hogeland, Groningen. It lies on the provincial road N361 from Winsum to Leens at the crossroads to Eenrum. The long-distance footpath called Pieterpad runs through the town and the Michaelkerk has an old Arp Schnitger organ that came from a church in Pieterburen and was installed in 1901. The town also has an old windmill called the Hollands Welvaart built in 1855.

Baflo (Dutch pronunciation: [ˈbɑfloː]; Gronings: Bavvelt [ˈbaʋl̩t]) is a village in the municipality of Het Hogeland, Netherlands. Famous people born in Baflo include humanist Rodolphus Agricola (1443/1444–1485) and jurist Gezina van der Molen (1892–1972). Until 1990, Baflo was a separate municipality. De Dingen is a former hamlet in the Dutch province of Groningen. It was located about 1 km south of Baflo. According to the 19th-century historian A.J. van der Aa, the hamlet consisted of four farms, stretching from east to west. There used to be a fortified house here, called "Dingen" or "De Dingen". The farms still exist, and are still called Dingen; but they are no longer considered to be a separate settlement on the newest topographical map of the area.

Eenrum (Dutch pronunciation: [ˈeːnrʏm]; Gronings: Ainrom [ˈɑinɾɔm]) is a village in the Dutch province of Groningen. It is located in the municipality of Het Hogeland, 17 km northwest of the city of Groningen.Eenrum was a separate municipality until 1990, then it was merged with Ulrum, Kloosterburen and Leens.

The Seal Rehabilitation and Research Centre (SRRC; Dutch: Zeehondencentrum Pieterburen) is located in Pieterburen, Netherlands. Lenie ‘t Hart founded the centre in 1971 and the centre has evolved from a simple "day care" for young seals to a scientific research-based seal hospital, with accompanying facilities such as quarantine, a laboratory, a chemist and modern research facilities. Hundreds of seals are cared for annually. The center rescues seals that have been injured by boats or fishing nets and those that have been sickened due to pollution. The center also rescues orphaned pups. All rehabilitated seals are released into the wild after their rehabilitation period, which lasts from several weeks to a maximum of six months. None of the animals remain in captivity and none of the seals are bred. The center also collects pieces of fishing nets that float in the sea and injure the animals. The center is open to visitors daily. In 2014 Lenie 't Hart cut ties with the centre, because she refused to accept the new scientifically based policy on the treatment of injured seals and intervened continuously with the people working there.

Pieterburen is a village in the northeastern Netherlands, located in the municipality of Het Hogeland, Groningen.

Obergum is part of the town Winsum (Groningen, Netherlands) that lies north of the Winsumerdiep. Originally it was a separate village. Winsum and Obergum have been connected since 1808 by the bridge De Boog (The Arch). The village is built around a wierde (hill) on which a 13th-century Romanesque church stands, called the St. Nicholas Chapel.

Warffum (Gronings: Waarvum)is a village in the Dutch province of Groningen. It is located in the municipality of Het Hogeland. It had a population of around 2,175 in January 2017.

Winsum (Dutch pronunciation: [ˈʋɪnsʏm] ; Gronings: Wìnzum [ˈʋɪ̃ːzəm]) is a town and a former municipality in the northeastern Netherlands. On 1 January 2019 the municipality merged with the municipalities of Bedum, De Marne and Eemsmond to form the new municipality Het Hogeland. The town of Winsum was officially established in 1057 as the fusion of three historic villages: Obergum (North), Winsum (center) and Bellingeweer (South). The majority of the town's 8,000 inhabitants commute to the nearby city Groningen. The town boasts two traditional Dutch wind mills, two historic churches, two canals, and one of the Netherlands' oldest taverns. The two mills, "De Ster" ("The Star") and "De Vriendschap" ("The Friendship") were built in 1851 and 1801 respectively. The building that the tavern "De Gouden Karper" ("The Golden Carp") now occupies has been in use as a tavern since the 16th century, and is the oldest (unverified) in the Netherlands.
