Pencader railway station

Pencader () is a small village in Carmarthenshire, Wales, in the community of Llanfihangel-ar-Arth. It is located around 3 miles (5 km) south-east of Llandysul and 6.5 miles (10 km) south-west of Llanybydder, in the valley of the Gwen brook, shortly before the confluence with the River Talog, to form the River Tyweli (a tributary of the Teifi). It is a village of little more than 500 houses, two shops, two pubs and an Anglican church (St Mary’s). For many years, it was one of the main stops on the Carmarthen - Aberystwyth rail route, and was the junction for the service to Newcastle Emlyn; the Pencader Tunnel enabled services to reach Carmarthen via Llanpumsaint. The decline of the railways saw the Newcastle Emlyn branch line closed in 1952 and the main line closed to passengers in 1965.

Dolgran is a small hamlet located in a narrow, steep-sided valley approximately one and a half miles to the south west of Pencader, Carmarthenshire, Wales, through which flows the Nant Grân. There are 12 dwellings adjacent to the unclassified road that bisects the hamlet, and the population is about 50. The hamlet did have a smithy, a water-powered sawmill and one general store but is now largely residential, with a mixture of old and new dwellings.

Llanfihangel-ar-Arth is a village and community in the county of Carmarthenshire, Wales. The area includes six villages: Alltwalis, Dolgran, Gwyddgrug, Llanfihangel-Ar-Arth, New Inn and Pencader. The population of the community taken at the 2011 census was 2,213.

Pencader Tunnel is an abandoned railway tunnel on the old trackbed of the Carmarthen to Aberystwyth main line in south-west Wales. It was originally bored for the Llanpumsaint-Pencader section of the Carmarthen & Cardigan (C&C) Railway. It is approximately 988 yards (903 m) long (just over half-a-mile), making it the longest tunnel in West Wales and is bored through Ordovician shales. It is single-track and built to the C&C's adopted broad gauge dimensions, as opposed to the smaller standard gauge used on Britain's railways today. It is also known as alternatively Alltwalis Tunnel and Dolgran Tunnel to local villagers.

Craig Gwrtheyrn, or Caer Gwrtheyrn, is an Iron Age hillfort on the south side of the River Teifi, about 1.2 miles (1.9 km) west of the village of Llanfihangel-ar-Arth, in Carmarthenshire, Wales.

Waunifor or Waun Ifor (Welsh: "Ifor's Meadow") is a historic estate, once the seat of the Lloyd and Bowen families, located in the small village community of Maesycrugiau near Llandysul, Ceredigion, Wales, which is 60.2 miles (96.9 km) from Cardiff and 179.9 miles (289.5 km) from London. Waunifor is now a Centre with 6 holiday cottages and 2 meeting rooms owned by the Template Foundation charity. It is used for workshops, art exhibitions, wellbeing seminars, youth gatherings, bereavement counselling and music events. Waunifor is represented in the Senedd by Elin Jones (Plaid Cymru) and is part of the Ceredigion constituency in the House of Commons.

Skanda Vale is a non-denominational spiritual centre and monastery located in Carmarthenshire, Wales, near the village of Llanpumsaint. Founded in 1973 by Guru Sri Subramanium, the monastery is inhabited and run by the Community of the Many Names of God, which also runs Somaskanda Ashram in Switzerland. Skanda Vale promotes a practical spirituality centred on devotion and selfless service. Skanda Vale is a syncretic religious community, albeit one that is seen from the outside as being a Hindu ashram. The monastics take Franciscan Christian vows of poverty, obedience and chastity and wear Christian monk-style robes. The ethos is based on Krishna's teachings from the Bhagavad Gita and sanatana dharma. The main shrines are to Hindu deities, and the pujas are clearly Hindu, however most monks and nuns are from western backgrounds. The temples are a place of pilgrimage for Hindus from Tamil and South Indian backgrounds who worship Murugan. Gujuratis and Bengalis visit the temples of Vishnu and Shakti. Skanda Vale is a registered charity in the UK and is funded entirely by donations. It is closely associated with the legally separate charity that sustains Skanda Vale Hospice.

Llandysul, also spelt Llandyssul, is a small town and community in the county of Ceredigion, Wales. As a community it consists of the townships of Capel Dewi, Horeb, Pontsian, Pren-gwyn, Tregroes, Rhydowen and the village of Llandysul itself. Llandysul lies in south Ceredigion in the valley of the River Teifi and is visited for its fishing and canoeing. The community had a population of 2732, as of 2011. The village itself has a population of 1484.Llandysul is also known as the home of Gwasg Gomer, one of the most prominent publishers of Welsh-interest and Welsh language books in Wales. The town is twinned with Plogonnec (Plogoneg) in Brittany, France.

Llandyssul (previously Llandyssil) was a railway station near the village of Llandysul, West Wales, on the originally broad gauge Teifi Valley line of the Carmarthen and Cardigan Railway.
