Skanda Vale

Pencader Tunnel is an abandoned railway tunnel on the old trackbed of the Carmarthen to Aberystwyth main line in south-west Wales. It was originally bored for the Llanpumsaint-Pencader section of the Carmarthen & Cardigan (C&C) Railway. It is approximately 988 yards (903 m) long (just over half-a-mile), making it the longest tunnel in West Wales and is bored through Ordovician shales. It is single-track and built to the C&C's adopted broad gauge dimensions, as opposed to the smaller standard gauge used on Britain's railways today. It is also known as alternatively Alltwalis Tunnel and Dolgran Tunnel to local villagers.

Llanpumpsaint was a railway station near the village of Llanpumpsaint, West Wales, serving the hamlet and the rural locale.

Dolgran is a small hamlet located in a narrow, steep-sided valley approximately one and a half miles to the south west of Pencader, Carmarthenshire, Wales, through which flows the Nant Grân. There are 12 dwellings adjacent to the unclassified road that bisects the hamlet, and the population is about 50. The hamlet did have a smithy, a water-powered sawmill and one general store but is now largely residential, with a mixture of old and new dwellings.

Llanpumsaint (; Welsh "Llan" church + "pum" five + "saint" saint(s)) is a village and community in Carmarthenshire, Wales. In the 2001 UK Census, Llanpumsaint community had a population of 595. It is not to be confused with Pumsaint, a small village some distance away on the River Cothi. The population increased in 2011 to 734, and thus the percentage of Welsh speakers declined.Llanpumsaint community comprises the neighbouring hamlet of Nebo, the spiritual community and temple at Skanda Vale and a number of farms. According to the 2001 Census, 50% of those living in Llanpumsaint community are able to speak, read and write Welsh, this is well above the 39% average recorded for Carmarthenshire in the same census.

Rhosydd Llanpumsaint is a Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI) in Carmarthenshire, Wales.

Pontarsais is a village in Carmarthenshire, Wales, 5 miles (8 km) north of Carmarthen and 57 miles (92 km) miles northwest of Cardiff (Caerdydd). The nearest railway station is Llwyfan Cerrig on a heritage railway at Pentre Morgan 3 miles (5 km) southwest. In 2014 powerline route options were being discussed.

Pencader railway station served the village of Pencader, Carmarthenshire, Wales, from 1864 to 1965 on the Carmarthen and Cardigan Railway.

Pencader () is a small village in Carmarthenshire, Wales, in the community of Llanfihangel-ar-Arth. It is located around 3 miles (5 km) south-east of Llandysul and 6.5 miles (10 km) south-west of Llanybydder, in the valley of the Gwen brook, shortly before the confluence with the River Talog, to form the River Tyweli (a tributary of the Teifi). It is a village of little more than 500 houses, two shops, two pubs and an Anglican church (St Mary’s). For many years, it was one of the main stops on the Carmarthen - Aberystwyth rail route, and was the junction for the service to Newcastle Emlyn; the Pencader Tunnel enabled services to reach Carmarthen via Llanpumsaint. The decline of the railways saw the Newcastle Emlyn branch line closed in 1952 and the main line closed to passengers in 1965.

Pencader Junction railway station served the village of Pencader, Carmarthenshire, Wales, from 1866 to 1880 on the Manchester and Milford Railway.

Llwyfan Cerrig is a heritage railway station on the preserved Gwili Railway. The station (along with a nearby Danycoed halt) previously did not exist before the closure of the Carmarthen to Aberystwyth Line in 1965 and was constructed and later opened in 1988 by the Gwili Railway. The name translates to English as "platform [of] stone". The station building has been relocated from Felinfach on the Aberaeron branch, while the signal box is a former crossing keeper's hut from Crundale, Pembrokeshire. The station is in close proximity to the River Gwili and is adjacent to the site of an old quarry. A travelling post office and miniature railway are two additional attractions located at the station for visitors.

Rhydargaeau is a village in Carmarthenshire, Wales. It lies along the A485 road which connects it to Pontarsais in the north and Peniel and Carmarthen, 3.8 miles (6.1 km) to the south. The village is located in the community of Llanllawddog. The village featured in the Welsh television series Pen Talar by S4C. The village pub is the Bluebell and Rhydargaeau also contains a Baptist church and Upper Llawddog Pump House.

Danycoed Halt, which is Welsh for below the trees, was built by the Gwili Railway in the late 1990s and opened in 2001. It is the current northern terminus of the line, but may become redundant when the preserved railway extends over a mile northwards into the nearby Conwyl station site and then further on up to Llanpumpsaint Station some 2+1⁄2 miles further on. The halt (along with a nearby "Llwyfan Cerrig" station) did not exist in British Railways days and currently features a four-coach platform, a typical GWR storage hut and other station furniture such as lamp posts and benches. The track layout consists of a simple "run-round" loop (designed to allow the locomotive to run around and couple up to the carriages for the return journey) with a pair of points controlled by a "single throw" lever at the northern end, and a pair controlled by a two-lever ground frame locked by a key on the train staff at the southern end. Just beyond the north end of the platform, a wrought iron girder bridge crosses the River Gwili. The bridge requires repair and thus inhibits immediate progress into the site of "Conwyl Elfed" station, (Just three bridges across the River Gwili).
