Grantham was a rural district in Lincolnshire, Parts of Kesteven from 1894 to 1931. It was created by the Local Government Act 1894 based on the Grantham rural sanitary district, the Leicestershire part of which went to form the Belvoir Rural District. In 1931, under a County Review Order, it was abolished, with nearly all of its area going to the West Kesteven Rural District, except the parish of Haceby, which became part of the East Kesteven Rural District.

Bassingthorpe is a small village in the civil parish of Bitchfield and Bassingthorpe, in the South Kesteven district of Lincolnshire, England. It is 5 miles (8 km) south from Grantham, and on a C class road between the B6403 to the west and the B1176 to the east. In 1921 the parish had a population of 78. On 1 April 1931 the parish was abolished and merged with Bitchfield to form "Bitchfield and Bassingthorpe".The village contains 4 houses and a Grade I listed church dedicated to St Thomas. The ecclesiastical parish is part of The North Beltisloe Group of parishes, of the Deanery of Beltisloe in the Diocese of Lincoln. From 2006 to 2011 the incumbent was Rev Richard Ireson.

Westby is a hamlet in the civil parish of Bitchfield and Bassingthorpe, in the South Kesteven district of Lincolnshire, England. It is situated approximately 6 miles (9.7 km) south-east from the town of Grantham. Westby is considered a shrunken medieval village and at the time of Domesday Book of 1086 it consisted of eleven households.

Bitchfield and Bassingthorpe is a civil parish which includes Boothby Pagnell and Burton Coggles in the South Kesteven district of Lincolnshire, England. According to the 2001 census it had a population of 154 across 59 homes. By the 2011 census there were 157 households, made of 366 people.The civil parish includes the villages of Bitchfield and Bassingthorpe, and the hamlet of Westby. There are no major roads through the parish, though the London-Edinburgh railway line passes through the extreme western edge. The parish is crossed by the B1176 Corby Glen to Grantham road. Several small streams rise in the western half of the parish, and flow eastwards into the West Glen River which flows through the parish from North to South. Bassingthorpe manor is probably the highest spot in the parish, with a spot height of 106m. The terrain slopes down eastward to the shallow valley of the glen, which lies between two 70m contours. Toward the eastern boundary the land rises again to about 90m.Busses on route 4 from Grantham to Stamford pass through the parish.Local democracy takes the form of a parish meeting.

Great Ponton railway station was a station on the East Coast Main Line at Great Ponton, Lincolnshire, England. The Great Northern Railway opened it in 1853 and British Railways closed it in 1958. The station buildings were demolished soon after the closure.

Burton Coggles (full name Burton-le-Coggles from Byrton-en-les-Coggles) is a small village and civil parish in the South Kesteven district of Lincolnshire, England. The population is included in the civil parish of Bitchfield and Bassingthorpe. The village is situated 7 miles (11 km) south from Grantham, and between the B1176 road and the East Coast Main Line.

Beltisloe is a Deanery of the Diocese of Lincoln in England, and a former Wapentake.The Wapentake of Beltisloe was established as an ancient administrative division of the English county of Lincolnshire before the Norman Conquest of 1066. In England a wapentake was the division of a shire for administrative, military and judicial purposes under the common law. The term wapentake is of Scandinavian origin and meant the taking of weapons; it later signified the clash of arms by which the people assembled in a local court expressed assent. Danish influence was strong in those English counties where wapentakes existed.The Wapentake of Beltisloe was bounded on the north by Winnibriggs and Threo Wapentake; on the east by Aveland Wapentake; on the south by Ness Wapentake and Rutland and on the west by Grantham soke and Leicestershire. This wapentake contained a number of now abandoned settlements, and in the 19th century contained the market town of Corby Glen and the villages of Basingthorpe, Bitchfield, Burton Coggles, Castle Bytham, Little Bytham, Careby, Creeton, Edenham, Gunby, Irnham, Lavington, Skillington, Stainby, Swayfield, Swinstead, Witham on the Hill, North Witham and South Witham.

Ellys Manor House (pronounced "Ellis"), or the Old Rectory is a late-fifteenth to early sixteenth century manor house in Great Ponton, Lincolnshire, England. It was built by Anthony Ellys (or Ellis), a wool merchant, and member of the Staple of Calais, who also built the tower of the village church. The house was restored as a Rectory (it had previously been divided up as two cottages), by the Grantham architect Wilfred Bond. The house is now privately owned, but the house and garden are open to the public at certain times; it is a member of the Historic Houses Association.

Old Somerby (pronounced Summerby) is a village and civil parish in the South Kesteven district of Lincolnshire, England, 3 miles (5 km) south-east of Grantham. It lies on the B1176 road, with the village centre about 1 mile (1.6 km) east of its junction with the A52 and B6403, and adjacent to the East Coast Main Line.

Great Ponton is an English village and civil parish in the South Kesteven district of Lincolnshire, 3 miles (5 km) south of Grantham on the A1 trunk road, which bisects the village. The tower of the parish church is a roadside landmark. The 2001 census recorded a population of 333, of whom all were of white ethnic origin and 87 per cent described themselves as Christian. The average age was 40. The population of the civil parish had risen to 379 at the 2011 census. It was estimated at 369 in 2019.
