Southborough Center Historic District

Southborough is a town in Worcester County, Massachusetts, United States. It incorporates the villages of Cordaville, Fayville, and Southville. Its name is often informally shortened to Southboro, a usage seen on many area signs and maps, though officially rejected by town ordinance. At the 2020 census, its population was 10,450 in 3,542 households.In 2021, 43% of land use is residential, with 35% open space, including a tenth of the town's area that is flooded by the Sudbury Reservoir. Light industrial land use is concentrated along main roads, primarily Massachusetts Route 9, and there are several small business districts in the villages and along Route 9.

St. Mark's School is a coeducational, Episcopal preparatory school, situated on 250 acres (100 ha) in Southborough, Massachusetts, 25 miles (40 km) from Boston. St. Mark's was founded in 1865 as an all-boys school by Joseph Burnett, who developed and marketed Burnett Vanilla Extract. Girls have attended since 1978. St. Mark's is a member of the Independent School League and one of five prep schools known collectively as St. Grottlesex.

Fay School, founded in 1866 by the Fay sisters, is an independent, coeducational day and boarding school located in Southborough, Massachusetts.

Margaret A. Neary Elementary School is a public school in the town of Southborough, Massachusetts, USA. In the 2022-2023 academic year, it serves 263 students in grades 4 and 5. It serves 4th and 5th graders in Southborough and is in the Northborough-Southborough Regional School District. Generally, students who complete this school go to nearby Trottier Middle School.

The J.D.C. Bradley House, also known as Oakcrest, is a historic mansion at 5 Sadie Hutt Lane in Southborough, Massachusetts. Built in 1913, the massive, 15,000-square-foot (1,400 m2) stucco house is one of the finest surviving works of architect Charles Adams Platt in Massachusetts. The house was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1999, where it is listed at 60 Sears Road.

The Sudbury Reservoir (2.02 square miles) is an emergency backup Boston metropolitan water reservoir in Massachusetts, located predominantly in Southborough and Marlborough, with small sections in Westborough and Framingham. It was created when the Sudbury Dam was constructed to impound the Stony Brook branch of the Sudbury River; no part of the reservoir lies in the town of Sudbury. Nearly 5,000 acres (2,000 ha) in the Sudbury Reservoir watershed are administered by the Massachusetts Department of Conservation and Recreation as a limited-access public recreation area.

The Marlborough Brook Filter Beds are a series of water filtration beds near the mouth of Marlborough Brook, where it enters Sudbury Reservoir near the town line between Marlborough and Southborough, Massachusetts. The filter beds were constructed in 1895 as part of the reservoir construction to improve the water quality of Marlborough and Walker Brooks, and are the best-preserved of two such facilities built as part of the public water supply serving Boston and surrounding communities. The site was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1990.

The New England Center for Children (NECC) is an independently-operated, private special education residential school in Southborough, Massachusetts, United States. Established in 1975, NECC provides intensive applied behavior analysis interventions for students with autism spectrum disorder between the ages of 14 months and 22 years old.

Cordaville is a census-designated place (CDP) in the town of Southborough in Worcester County, Massachusetts, United States. The population was 2,650 at the 2010 census.

The Sudbury Dam Historic District is a historic district on the southeastern end of Sudbury Reservoir off Massachusetts Route 30 in Framingham and Southborough, Massachusetts. The district encompasses the Sudbury Dam (also known as the Fayville Dam for the nearby neighborhood of Southborough), which impounds the reservoir, and an area encompassing several historic structures located below the dam. The area includes water-supply-related structures from three phases of development of the Greater Boston water supply system. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1990.

The Dennison Manufacturing Co. Paper Box Factory is a historic factory building at 175 Maple Street in Marlborough, Massachusetts. It was built in 1923 and owned by the paper company until 1969. After Dennison left, a subsidiary of Dennison, Design Pak, was based in the building. In 2007, the building was converted into apartments. The building was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 2008.Dennison, founded by brothers Aaron and Eliphalet W. Dennison as an adjunct to their father's jewelry business, was originally a jewelry-box making company run out of the family home in Brunswick, Maine, in the 1840s.

The South Union School is an historic school building at 21 Highland Street in Southborough, Massachusetts. The two story brick, cast stone, and wood Classical Revival building was designed by Frank Irving Cooper of the Boston architectural firm of Cooper & Bailey, and built 1911–12. It is architecturally structured somewhat like a classical column: an elevated basement level, topped by a water table, constitutes the base of the column, the two main floors resemble the body of the column, and the building's cornice and parapet resemble its capital. The school was built to consolidate the schooling of the town's elementary school students from the nearby Cordaville and Southville villages, as part of a series of construction projects to modernize the town's public facilities. It underwent major renovation in the 1950s to improve its infrastructure, including the construction of a cafeteria in the basement, before closing in the early 1970s. It was shortly afterward reopened to serve the town's kindergarten population, which it served until 1980. In 1981 the building was repurposed to become the home of the Southborough Arts Center.The building was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2011.
