White Wall (Taunus)

The Altkönig is the third highest mountain of the Taunus range in Hesse, Germany, reaching a height of 798.2 m above sea level (NHN).Its summit is lies within the borough of Kronberg im Taunus not far from the village of Königstein im Taunus which is part of Falkenstein in the Hessian county of Hochtaunuskreis. With an isolation of 2,450 metres and a prominence of over 136 metres above saddle at the Fuchstanz (662 m) leading to the Kleiner Feldberg (825.2 m), the Altkönig is one of the most striking peaks in the Taunus. Together with the Großer Feldberg (881.5 m) and Kleiner Feldberg it forms the crown of the High Taunus (Feldberg-Taunus ridge); unlike the Feldberg, however, it does not lie on the main ridge itself but rises to the south and parallel with it. On the Altkönig are the Altkönig Circular Rampart and on its spurs the Lips and Victoria Temples, the White Wall and the Hünerberg Circular Rampart. In the local region are Altkönig School in Kronberg, the local Altkönig Foundation and Altkönig Hall in Steinbach as well as many roads that are named after the mountain.

The Heidetränk Oppidum near Oberursel in the Taunus in Germany is one of Europe's most important Celtic oppida. The oppidum was surrounded by ramparts which encircled the settlement of opposite sides of a ravine called the Heidetrankthal. This imposing rampart was 10 km long and had six gates. The high point of the settlement was in the late La Tène period, but lost its importance in the mid first century BC. Archaeological finds from the Heidedtrank Oppidium include agricultural implements such as plowshares, hoes, scythe and sickle blades as well as tools and Celtic coins, particularly the so-called "Nauheim Quinarius", which was probably coined in the oppidum itself. It is considerably younger than nearby settlements at the Altkönig (5th/4th century BC) and Bleibeskopf (8th century BC).

Hünerberg is a hill in Hesse, Germany. In the era of Julius Caesar and Augustus it was part of the territory of the Batavi. Drusus built a fort there shortly before his German campaign.

The Falkenstein Grand Hotel is a luxury resort in Königstein im Taunus (Falkenstein im Taunus), Germany. It was founded in 1875 as a sanatorium for officers. The current structure was completed in 1909 and opened by Kaiser Wilhelm II. It was a sanatorium until 1976 and also served as a hospital, military sanatorium and hospital for invalids before being closed in 1991. On 9 September 1999, it re-opened as a 106-room luxury hotel, the Kempinski Hotel Falkenstein Königstein Frankfurt, managed by Kempinski hotel. In 2001 The German Hotel and Restaurant Association awarded the hotel five stars. In January 2021, its management transferred from Kempinski to Marriott International's Autograph Collection division.

Schlosshotel Kronberg (Castle Hotel Kronberg) in Kronberg im Taunus, Hesse, near Frankfurt am Main, was built between 1889 and 1893 for the dowager German Empress Victoria and originally named Schloss Friedrichshof in honour of her late husband, Emperor Frederick III (Friedrich III). The principal architect was Ernst von Ihne, who was also the royal architect to Frederick III and Kaiser Wilhelm II; von Ihne designed many royal residences for nobility in and around Germany and Austria. Today the castle is a five-star hotel which belongs, together with the accompanying park, to the House of Hesse. Parts of the original furnishings as well as pieces of art from the collection of the empress are still present in the hotel, along with her extensive library. The grounds contain an 18-hole golf course, designed by Dwight D. Eisenhower, and a public town park.

Falkenstein Castle (German: Burg Falkenstein), also called New Falkenstein (Neu-Falkenstein), is a ruined hill castle at 450 m above sea level (NHN) in the eponymous climatic spa of Falkenstein, a quarter of Königstein im Taunus in the county of Hochtaunuskreis in the German state of Hesse.

Kronberg im Taunus is a town in the Hochtaunuskreis district, Hesse, Germany and part of the Frankfurt Rhein-Main urban area. Before 1866, it was in the Duchy of Nassau; in that year the whole Duchy was absorbed into Prussia. Kronberg lies at the foot of the Taunus, flanked in the north and southwest by forests. A mineral water spring also rises in the town.

The High Taunus (German: Hoher Taunus) is the name of a major natural region unit (no. 301) in the Hessian Central Uplands range of the Taunus mountains and forms the area immediately around the main ridge of the Taunus. It should not be confused with the term Hochtaunus, in the sense used in the name of the county of Hochtaunuskreis which is only the eastern part of the Feldberg massif. The High Taunus separates the Anterior Taunus in the south from the Lower Taunus in the north and includes the majority of the highest mountains and hills of the Taunus. The eastern part of the natural region lies within the Taunus Nature Park and its western part in the Rhine-Taunus Nature Park.

The Großer Feldberg ("Great Field Mountain") is, at a height of 879.5 metres, the highest elevation of the Taunus mountains, and of the entire Rhenish Massif. It is situated in the Hochtaunuskreis district in Hesse, Germany. The Feldberg/Taunus transmitter mast is set at the top of the mountain. A lookout tower affords long-distance views onto the Taunus hills to the North and West and over and beyond the Rhein-Main plain to the South and East. A restaurant and a small hut offer food and drinks. The mountain is accompanied by the Kleiner Feldberg, a subsidiary of 825 m at a distance of 1.3 km to the south-west, and the 798-metres-high Altkönig, 2.3 km to the south-east.

The Opel Zoo (German: von Opel Hessische Zoostiftung) is a zoo in Königstein im Taunus, Hesse in Germany. The Zoo was founded in 1956 by Georg von Opel, and covers 27 hectares (66.7 acres). 1,600 animals from 200 species live in the Zoo, including african elephants.

The Feldberg/Taunus transmitter is a facility for FM- and TV-broadcasting and for directional radio services. It is used for FM- and TV-broadcasting; a 116.17-metre-high (381.1 ft) guyed mast is used as an antenna tower. It is located on the Großer Feldberg, the highest mountain in the Taunus region of Germany. The telecommunication tower on the Großer Feldberg is a combination of a multistoried building and a telecommunications tower of unconventional design.
