Pōhutukawa Bay

The Long Bay-Okura Marine Reserve is a 980-hectare (2,400-acre) protected area at Long Bay on the North Shore in the Auckland Region of New Zealand. It was created by Order in Council in 1995.The shoreline of the Long Bay Regional Park and the Okura Estuary Scenic Reserve adjoins the marine reserve.

The Ōkura River, also known as the Ōkura Estuary, is a river in the north of the Auckland Region in the North Island of New Zealand. The river rises in the low hills to the south of Silverdale and flows into Karepiro Bay on the Hauraki Gulf / Tīkapa Moana. The river is extremely tidal with only a narrow channel being navigable by small craft at low tide. The area is popular for horse riding, riders wait till low tide and then ford the boating channel to ride the estuary and beaches on the northern side.

It is open fortnightly to the public.

Sir Peter Blake Marine Education & Recreation Centre (MERC) is a not for profit charity (Registration Number CC29903) based in Long Bay, Auckland, New Zealand. MERC offers marine-based environmental education and outdoor recreational experiences to schools, not-for-profit organisations, and business and corporate groups.MERC can accommodate up to 85 people at any time for overnight stays and activities, and up to a total of 120 people per day. A day programme consists of 3 activities on the day and instruction is given between 9am and 4pm. There is scope to organise short duration, single day and multi-day courses, and these are specifically developed to meet the needs of each group. MERCs facilities have separate teacher/leader accommodation, multi-purpose hall, wheelchair access and large kitchen & dining facilities. The Centre's mission statement is to provide life-changing marine environmental education and outdoor experiences for young New Zealanders.

Long Bay College is a state co-educational secondary school located in Torbay, a suburb of the North Shore in Auckland, New Zealand. The decile 10 school serves Years 9 to 13, and has 1510 students as of February 2023. Christopher (CJ) Healey is the school's current principal. The Weiti River is an estuarine river to the north of Auckland in the North Island of New Zealand. It rises as the Weiti Stream in the low hills approximately 7 kilometres (4 mi) west of Silverdale and emerges into the Hauraki Gulf immediately south of the Whangaparaoa Peninsula. The upper stretches of the river are heavily grown with mangroves but with care, small craft can navigate it as far as Silverdale at high tide. Stillwater is the only other settlement along the river's banks. Wentworth College, based in nearby Gulf Harbour, uses the Weiti River for its rowing training.Up until the 1950s this river and estuary was known by locals as the Wade river.

The official name is spelled with a macron.Ōkura is a small village on the south shore of the Okura River, on the opposite shore to the Okura Bush Scenic Reserve. It is the only location that provides access to the Okura River in the form of basic launching facilities for small craft. The New Zealand Ministry for Culture and Heritage gives a translation of "place of red (clay)" for Ōkura.

The name Torbay comes from the area of the same name in the south east of Devon, England, and from the Tor, a presque-isle at the north end of Waiake Beach that becomes an island at high tide. Attractions in the area include Long Bay Regional Park which attracts over a million visitors each year. There are also a number of smaller public beaches (Waiake, Torbay Beach, Winstone's Cove, Ladder Bay), which are highly accessible and utilised both for swimming, and mooring small yachts.
