Frankston North (originally the Pines Forest Estate, also known as "The Pines") is a suburb in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia, 38 km south-east of Melbourne's Central Business District, located within the City of Frankston local government area. Frankston North recorded a population of 5,711 at the 2021 census.

It has an area of 130 square kilometres, and in June 2018, the City of Frankston recorded a population of 141,845.Despite its similar area and name, the City of Frankston is a different entity to the former City of Frankston which existed from 1966 until 1994, which was a continuation of the former Shire of Frankston and was abolished under state government reforms. This is similar to the situation for the Shire of South Gippsland and Shire of Glenelg, but is unlike the City of Melbourne, City of Knox, City of Whittlesea and City of Melton, whose administrations stayed intact through the amalgamations of the early 1990s.

Kananook Creek is a river in south-eastern Melbourne, Australia, 9.6 kilometres (5.965 miles) long. Beginning at the meeting of the Wadsley and Eel Race Drains, it flows parallel to the coast for 7.5 kilometres (4.66 miles) making a peninsula locally called "Long Island", running from Carrum to the river's mouth in Frankston. Kananook Creek flows into Port Phillip.

Electoral district of Frankston East was an electoral district of the Legislative Assembly in the Australian state of Victoria. It was created in 1992, mostly out of the old Frankston North. The seat is notable for having decided the 1999 state election, which proved to be the last election in which it was contested. The incumbent, Liberal-turned-independent Peter McLellan, died on election day, forcing a supplementary election a month later. Neither the Coalition nor Labor had won a majority, placing the balance of power in the hands of three independents. They deferred their decision until the supplementary election. In the 16 October supplementary election, Labor candidate Matt Viney won on a swing of 7.7 percent, resulting in a hung parliament. The independents then announced their support for Labor, making Labor leader Steve Bracks premier.

McClelland College, is a secondary school in Karingal. The school resides in the suburb of Frankston located in Victoria, Australia. The school has received a lot of government funding for their research into new learning environments and for their new VCE centre. Previously known as Karingal Park Secondary College, the school was created after a merger of two other secondary colleges in the same area, Karingal Secondary College (formerly Karingal High School) and Ballam Park Secondary College (formerly Ballam Park Technical College). Karingal High School was originally located in the Life Saving Club in Frankston, during the 1950s, before relocating to the suburb of Karingal. In 2009 Karingal Park Secondary College changed its name to McClelland Secondary College, although it was also known as McClelland College by the community. This decision was taken by the staff of the school and the local council. This led to a change in the school's uniform, and the school's colours are now purple and grey.

Leawarra railway station is located on the Stony Point line in Victoria, Australia. It serves the south-eastern Melbourne suburb of Frankston, and it opened on 30 November 1959 as Rail Motor Stopping Place No. 16. It was renamed Leawarra in 1962.The station serves the nearby Peninsula Campus of Monash University.
