Icomb

Icomb Place (pronounced "Ickum") is a medieval manor house on the edge of the village of Icomb, near Stow on the Wold in Gloucestershire. The word "Place" in this context is thought to be a precursor of the word "Palace".

Upper Rissington is a village and civil parish in the Cotswold district of Gloucestershire, England. It is located about two-and-a-half miles east of Bourton-on-the-Water and is one of the highest villages in the Cotswolds at an elevation of 275 m. The village is on the former site of the Central Flying School and the airfield is still the active RAF site of RAF Little Rissington. According to the Gloucestershire Mid-2004 Ward and Parish Population Estimates it had a population of 994. According to the Local Insight Profile it had a population of 1040 in 2014 but this has since grown rapidly due to the new housing. The village is one of the youngest and most dynamic communities in the Cotswolds with 30% of the population under 18 Once famed for its social life in the old ballroom when it housed hundreds of young trainee pilots, the new village is now well known locally for community events such as its firework displays.

Westcote is a civil parish in the Cotswold district, in the county of Gloucestershire, England. The village is about 4 miles (6 km) south-southeast of Stow-on-the-Wold, just east of the A424 road to Burford. To the south and east, the civil parish borders the parishes of Fifield and Idbury in neighbouring Oxfordshire. The population is concentrated in the two main settlements: Church Westcote, the location of the parish church, and Nether Westcote, which has a Methodist chapel and a public house. Church Westcote lies on the Diamond Way long-distance footpath, and the Oxfordshire Way passes through the north of the parish between Wyck Rissington and Bledington. In 2011 it had a population of 208.

Situated less than a mile south-east of the market town of Stow-on-the-Wold and approximately 18 miles (29 km) east of its post town, Cheltenham, Maugersbury lies within the Cotswolds, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. At the 2001 United Kingdom census, the parish had a population of 149.

Maugersbury Manor is a manor house in the village of Maugersbury in Gloucestershire. It has been listed Grade II on the National Heritage List for England (NHLE) since August 1960. It has been built in various stages from the 17th to the 20th century and is made from dressed limestone with a slate roof. A third storey was added in the 18th century to the central part of the house. The right wing of the house was demolished, the left wing is two storey high with an attic.At the time of the 1987 revision of its listing on the NHLE, Maugersbury Manor was divided into houses, flats, and a school. An underground passage reportedly links the manor house with the King's Arms Hotel in Stow Square.Maugersbury Manor sold for £1.75 million in 2017. At the time of its 2017 sale it had eight reception rooms, 10 bedrooms, and a cellar.

Wyck (Wick) Rissington is a village and civil parish in the picturesque Cotswold hills of Gloucestershire, England. The village is located 1.5 miles (2.4 km) north-east of Bourton-on-the-Water. The name 'Wyck Rissington' translates from the Saxon as "A building of special significance on a hill covered with brushwood".Wyck is one of four Rissington villages along with Great, Little and Upper Rissington.

Stow-on-the-Wold railway station was a station on the Great Western Railway's Banbury and Cheltenham Direct Railway that opened in 1881. Situated about one and a half miles to the south the station served the Gloucestershire town of Stow-on-the-Wold and its surrounding villages. The station passed on to the Western Region of British Railways on nationalisation in 1948. It was then closed by the British Transport Commission.

Little Rissington is a village and civil parish about 3+1⁄2 miles (6 km) south of Stow-on-the-Wold in the Cotswold District of Gloucestershire, England. The 2011 Census recorded the parish's population as 280.

RAF Little Rissington (ICAO: EGVL) is an RAF aerodrome and RAF station in Gloucestershire, England. It was once home to the Central Flying School, the Vintage Pair and the Red Arrows. Built during the 1930s, the station was opened in 1938 and closed in 1994. The married-quarters and main technical site were sold in 1996 (the former becoming the village of Upper Rissington). RAF Little Rissington has been retained by the Ministry of Defence and is known as Little Rissington Airfield. It remains active along with the southern technical sites, under the operational control of HQ No. 2 Flying Training School RAF at RAF Syerston. It is now home to 621 Volunteer Gliding Squadron RAF and 637 Volunteer Gliding Squadron RAF as the primary military units, providing elementary flying training for Combined Cadet Force and Air Training Corps cadets. The airfield is also used by the forces as a relief landing ground, training area and parachute dropping area. In previous years, the Royal Air Force estate has been used as a film set, including The Avengers, part of the ice chase in Die Another Day, and the Thunderbirds film. In March 2015 a new hangar is being built on the airfield. In 2017 investment was made in upgrading facilities for the RAF Air Cadets. The old fire station was upgraded to provide modern teaching facilities and an accommodation block with canteen was built next door. The new hangar is now operational for the storage and maintenance of the gliders. The airfield has had major groundworks on the grassed area creating a grassed runway.
