Chittenden () is a town in Rutland County, Vermont, United States. The population was 1,237 at the 2020 census.

The Thomas H. Palmer House is a historic house at 2636 United States Route 7 in Pittsford, Vermont, United States. Built in 1832, it is a relatively upscale brick house, with Federal and Greek Revival styling. It is notable as the home of Thomas Palmer, an influential figure in the development of Pittsford and state-level educational standards in the mid-19th century. The house was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1978.

Mount Carmel State Forest covers 263 acres (1.06 km2) in Chittenden, Vermont in Rutland County. Located in the Green Mountains, the forest's elevation ranges from 2380 to 3365 feet at the summit of Mount Carmel. There is no road access to the forest, which can only be accessed by the New Boston Trail, a side trail to the Long Trail. The Long Trail bisects the forest from north to south, and the New Boston Trail accesses the Long Trail from adjacent U.S. Forest Service land in Green Mountain National Forest. The Green Mountain Club maintains the trail. A snowmobile corridor trail is maintained by the Vermont Association of Snow Travelers. The forest was a gift to the State of Vermont in 1956 from Governor Redfield Proctor. It is managed by the Vermont Department of Forests, Parks, and Recreation.

Pittsford is a town in Rutland County, Vermont, United States. As of the 2020 census, the town population was 2,862. Named for William Pitt, it has two picket forts used in the American Revolutionary War.

The Colburn Bridge is a historic bridge in Pittsford, Vermont. It is a masonry arch bridge, carrying U.S. Route 7 (US 7) across Sugar Hollow Brook a short way east of the town center. Built in 1899, it is one of a modest number of surviving masonry arch bridges in the state, and exhibits particularly high quality period workmanship. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1990.

The Rutland-4 Representative District is a one-member state Representative district in the U.S. state of Vermont. It is one of the 108 one or two member districts into which the state was divided by the redistricting and reapportionment plan developed by the Vermont General Assembly following the 2000 U.S. Census. The plan applies to legislatures elected in 2002, 2004, 2006, 2008, and 2010. A new plan will be developed in 2012 following the 2010 U.S. Census. The Rutland-4 District includes all of the Rutland County town of Rutland Town. As of the 2000 census, the state as a whole had a population of 608,827. As there are a total of 150 representatives, there were 4,059 residents per representative (or 8,118 residents per two representatives). The one member Rutland-4 District had a population of 4,038 in that same census, 0.52% below the state average.

Pittsford is the central village and a census-designated place (CDP) in the town of Pittsford, Rutland County, Vermont, United States. As of the 2020 census, it had a population of 805, out of 2,862 in the entire town. The CDP is in northern Rutland County, slightly east of the center of the town of Pittsford. It sits on high ground overlooking Otter Creek to the west and Furnace Brook, its tributary, to the southeast. U.S. Route 7 passes through the village, leading north 7 miles (11 km) to Brandon and south 8 miles (13 km) to Rutland. Vermont Route 3 leaves Route 7 at the southern edge of the community and leads south 3 miles (5 km) to Proctor.

The Pittsford Green Historic District encompasses the heart of the traditional village center of Pittsford, Vermont. Centered on a stretch of United States Route 7, the village's development began in the late 18th century, and now consists almost entirely of buildings from the 19th century. The district was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1982.

The Cooley Covered Bridge is a covered bridge that carries Elm Street across Furnace Brook in Pittsford, Vermont. Built in 1849, it is one of a small number of bridges in the state that has a well-documented association with the 19th-century master bridgewright Nicholas M. Powers, who grew up nearby. It is one of four surviving 19th-century covered bridges in the town, and was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1974.

Rutland is a town in Rutland County, Vermont, United States. As of the 2020 census, the population was 3,924. Rutland Town completely surrounds Rutland City, which is a separate municipality. The villages of the town effectively comprise the inner suburbs of Rutland City.

Stafford Technical Center is a technical school adjacent to Rutland High School, located in Rutland, Vermont. The school offers programs such as culinary arts, engineering, forestry and natural resources, video production, automotive technology, and cosmetology. There are 14 different full-day technical programs. When students enroll in one of these programs they spend the full school day at Stafford Technical Center, while continuing to be enrolled at their partner high school. The programs start at 9:15 am and run until 2:30 pm. Students may take additional academic classes at Stafford Technical Center or Rutland High School. Transportation to Stafford Technical Center is provided by the student's partner high school. Evening classes are held for adult learners and are available to anyone sixteen years of age or older. It is similar to the BOCES program in New York State. The school is part of the Rutland City Public School District, but also allows students from other towns in Rutland County to attend. Several hundred students are currently in attendance. Stafford students are heavily involved in local events and charity. Every two years the school builds, and sells at-cost, a home designed and built by students of several programs. The daycare program run by students also helps collect and donate children's clothing and winter accessories. The school's culinary arts program participates in preparing food for a variety of local charities. The cosmetology students have visited senior care centers and given manicures to the residents. Many students are able to participate in work based learning while in school. During the global pandemic of 2020 the school pivoted quickly in March 2020 to a fully remote instruction model. Early September 2020 the school started the year in a hybrid model with students attending every other day in person with online learning on the opposite day.
