Montrose Town House

The Old and St Andrew's Church ('Auld Kirk') is a Church of Scotland church in Montrose, Angus. It was dedicated in 1793. The current steeple, designed by James Gillespie Graham, was completed in 1834.

The Montrose Library is situated in an A-listed Carnegie funded building in the north Angus coastal town of Montrose. It was first opened in 1905 and in 2018 received a £1 million refurbishment to provide it with "flexible, community focused spaces".

Montrose Museum opened in 1842 in Montrose, Angus, Scotland. The museum came into being when in 1841 the Montrose Natural History and Antiquarian Society started a fund to expand its space; in order to house its curiosities and wonders ranging from geological and ethnographical artefacts to a collection of natural history objects and fine art. It was accredited by the Museums, Libraries and Archives Council in June 2009.

Montrose ( mon-TROHZ; Scottish Gaelic: Mon Rois [mɔn ˈrˠɔʃ]) is a town and former royal burgh in Angus, Scotland. Situated 28 miles (45 kilometres) north of Dundee and 37 miles (60 kilometres) south of Aberdeen, Montrose lies between the mouths of the North and South Esk rivers. It is the northernmost coastal town in Angus and developed as a natural harbour that traded in skins, hides, and cured salmon in medieval times. With a population of approximately 12,000, the town functions as a port, but the major employer is GlaxoSmithKline, which was saved from closure in 2006. The skyline of Montrose is dominated by the 220-foot (67 m) steeple of Old and St Andrew's Church, designed by James Gillespie Graham and built between 1832 and 1834. Montrose is a town with a wealth of architecture, and is a centre for international trade. It is an important commercial port for the oil and gas industry. It is known for its wide thoroughfare and high street, which leads to picturesque closes containing secluded gardens. The town has a view of a tidal lagoon, Montrose Basin, which is considered a nature reserve of international importance. It is the largest inland salt water basin in the UK, and an important habitat for the mute swan. Just outside Montrose is the 18th-century House of Dun, designed by the Scottish architect William Adam and built in 1730 for David Erskine, Lord Dun, 13th Laird of Dun.

Montrose railway station serves the town of Montrose in Angus, Scotland. The station overlooks the Montrose Basin and is situated on the Dundee–Aberdeen line, 90 miles (144 km) north of Edinburgh Waverley, between Arbroath and Laurencekirk. There is a crossover at the north end of the station, which can be used to facilitate trains turning back if the line south to Arbroath is blocked.

Montrose Academy is a coeducational secondary school in Montrose Angus. The School now teaches people from ages 11–18. It became a comprehensive school in the mid-fifties and was one of a pair of Scottish schools which formed a country-wide trial of comprehensive schooling in Scotland. It serves the surrounding local community with a roll of around 900 students and a staff of 79. Most pupils come from the associated primary schools of Borrowfield, Ferryden, Lochside, Rosemount, Southesk and St Margaret's. A number of pupils come from outside the catchment area.

Montrose railway station was opened on 1 February 1848 by the Aberdeen Railway as a terminus of a short branch from Dubton Junction. Services initially comprised trains to the junction at Dubton, with some continuing through to Brechin. When the Montrose and Bervie Railway opened on 1 November 1865, its trains were initially worked by the Scottish North Eastern Railway and used this station. These working were taken over by the Caledonian Railway when it took over the SNER. These services were transferred to Montrose railway station when the North British Railway built its new line from Arbroath to Kinnaber (the North British, Arbroath and Montrose Railway). It was closed to passengers on 30 April 1934 and trains from Dubton ran into the former North British Railway station in Montrose. The area of the extensive sidings at this station has now been built on with houses. The station building remains as a retirement home but its extensive trainshed has been removed and replaced with a tasteful canopy. The building has been stone-cleaned. The station was closed in preference to the other station in Montrose which was on the Dundee to Aberdeen main line rather than the terminus of a short branch.

Montrose Castle was a 12th-century castle built in Montrose, Angus, Scotland. Montrose was created a royal burgh by King David I of Scotland in the 12th century. The castle, once a royal castle, was built as a motte and bailey castle. King Edward I of England accepted John Balliol's surrender of Scotland at the castle on the 10 July 1296. The castle was destroyed by William Wallace in 1297. The castle was noted to be in ruins in 1488. Nothing now remains above ground.

Montrose Royal Infirmary was a health facility in Bridge Street, Montrose, Angus, Scotland. It was managed by NHS Tayside. It is a Category A listed building.

Links Park is a football stadium in Montrose, Scotland. It has been the home ground of Montrose F.C. since 1887. Links Park was opened in 1887 on land rented from the 'Auld Kirk'. To help finance the new ground, Montrose F.C. rented the pitch out for circuses and livestock grazing. The club was eventually able to raise £150 in 1920 to buy a stand, that had been previously used by the Highland Games. A roof was built over the Wellington Street end of the ground in the 1960s. Floodlights were installed in 1971 and first used in a match against Stranraer. The record attendance at the ground was 8,983, for a Scottish Cup quarter-final tie against Dundee in March 1973.Links Park was significantly improved in the 1990s, after the club was taken over by Bryan Keith. The wooden Main Stand was replaced by a cantilevered stand, seating 1,258 people. Other improvements brought the total investment to nearly £1 million, of which the Football Trust provided £400,000. Keith bought the ground in 1995 for £500,000 and granted the club a 25-year lease, without rent. GlaxoSmithKline provided a £250,000 grant in 2006 for the club to install an all-weather surface at Links Park. This pitch was replaced by another artificial surface during the 2015 close season.The current stadium capacity is 4,936. The all-seated Main Stand (South) has a capacity of 1,338 with the West Stand terrace holding a maximum of 1,582 spectators. There is also uncovered standing areas on the North and East sides off the ground. The pitch at the stadium measures 113 x 70 yards. For the 2018–19 season onwards, local junior football club Montrose Roselea have shared the ground.

Lochside distillery was a distillery in Montrose, Angus that produced single malt scotch whisky and grain whisky. The distillery was owned by Macnab Distilleries Ltd. and latterly, by Allied Distillers, a subsidiary of the former British drinks and restaurant group Allied Domecq.

Broomfield Junction Halt railway station served the town of Montrose, Angus, Scotland from 1865 to 1877 on the Montrose and Bervie Railway.
