Woodlesford

Oulton is a village in the City of Leeds metropolitan borough, West Yorkshire, England, between Leeds and Wakefield. It is at the junction of the A639 and A642 roads. Though now adjoining the village of Woodlesford, it was once quite separate.The village formed part of the Rothwell Urban District until its merger into the City of Leeds Metropolitan District in 1974 and today sits in the Rothwell ward of Leeds City Council. It is also in the Elmet and Rothwell parliamentary constituency. Oulton Hall was built in 1850 and is now a hotel and conference centre.

Oulton Academy (formerly Royds Academy, Royds School), founded in 1956, is a co-educational secondary school located in Leeds, West Yorkshire, England. The school serves approximately 1,300 pupils. Royds School was originally a secondary modern and is now a non-selective school serving Rothwell, south Leeds and the surrounding areas. The school originally gained Specialist Language College status in 2003. This was removed in 2014. Previously a foundation school administered by Leeds City Council, in April 2021 Royds School converted to academy status and was renamed Royds Academy. The school is now sponsored by the Falcon Education Academies Trust.In Summer 2021, consultation took place with staff and parents, and it was agreed that Royds Academy would change its name to Oulton Academy in 2022.

Wyke Beck is a stream that runs from Roundhay Park to the River Aire in east Leeds, West Yorkshire, England. Described as an Urban Beck, the stream flows through housing estates and then an industrial landscape in its lower reaches. Wyke Beck has been prone to flooding so often, that remediation of its course and flood storage schemes have been initiated by Leeds City Council. The Wyke Beck is a green corridor through east Leeds and flows through, or near, five local nature reserves. Industrial development in its lower reaches has had an impact on the beck and future developments may also mean a reduction in sites for wildlife. A proposal to site a railway depot in the Temple Green/Knostrop area, has been identified as potentially damaging to a colony of white-clawed crayfish.

It is in the Rothwell ward of Leeds City Council and Elmet and Rothwell parliamentary constituency. Rothwell is part of the West Yorkshire Urban Area. Rothwell had a population of 21,010 in the 2001 census, and the Rothwell ward has an estimated population of 32,365. At the 2011 census the ward had a population of 20,354. The town is close to the A1/M1 link road and the Stourton park and ride. The nearest railway station is Woodlesford.

Rothwell Town Hall, also known as Rothwell District Council Offices, is a historic building on Marsh Street in Rothwell, a town in West Yorkshire, England. The building, which previously accommodated the offices and meeting place of Rothwell Urban District Council, has been sold to a developer to allow conversion for residential use.
