The Pullens Buildings, also known as the Pullens Estate, are some of the last Victorian tenement buildings surviving in London, England. In the Walworth, Newington area, they are near Elephant and Castle and Kennington Underground stations. Located in Amelia Street, Crampton Street, Iliffe Street, Penton Place and Peacock Street, they are protected by Conservation Area status granted by Southwark Council.

Strata SE1 is a 147-metre (482 ft), 43-storey, multi-award-winning, building at Elephant & Castle in the London Borough of Southwark with more than 1,000 residents living in its 408 flats.At the time of its construction, the building, designed by BFLS (formerly Hamiltons), was the tallest residential building in London and the first building in the world with its three wind turbines integral to its structure (as opposed to having them tacked on, in a retrofit). In March 2014, an Ipsos MORI poll for New London Architecture of 500 members of the public aged 16–64 declared Strata SE1 Londoners' fifth favourite tall building, behind 30 St Mary Axe (The Gherkin), The Shard, The Leadenhall Building (The Cheesegrater) and One Canada Square (Canary Wharf).

Newington Butts is a former hamlet, now an area of the London Borough of Southwark, that gives its name to a segment of the A3 road running south-west from the Elephant and Castle junction. The road continues as Kennington Park Road leading to Kennington; a fork right is Kennington Lane, leading to Vauxhall Bridge. Michael Faraday was born in Newington Butts. It is believed to take its name from an archery butts, or practice field. The area gave its name to an Elizabethan theatre which saw the earliest recorded performances of some Shakespearean plays.

John Smith House is the former Labour Party headquarters at 144–152 Walworth Road in south London. The party first occupied the building in 1980, vacating its former headquarters at Transport House. It was renamed after John Smith, the former leader of the Labour Party who died in office in May 1994 less than two years after becoming leader.

Royal Surrey Gardens were pleasure gardens in Newington, Surrey, London in the Victorian period, slightly east of The Oval. The gardens occupied about 15 acres (6.1 ha) to the east side of Kennington Park Road, including a lake of about 3 acres (1.2 ha). It was the site of Surrey Zoological Gardens and Surrey Music Hall. The gardens were the grounds of the manor house of Walworth, that is also the civil parish of Newington, Surrey. The site was acquired in 1831 by impresario Edward Cross to be the location of his new Surrey Zoological Gardens, using animals from his menagerie at Exeter Exchange, in competition with the new London Zoo in Regent's Park. A large circular domed glass conservatory was built in the gardens, 300 feet (90 m) in circumference with more than 6,000 square feet (560 m2) of glass, to contain separate cages for lions, tigers, a rhinoceros, and giraffes. The gardens were heavily planted with native and exotic trees and plants, and dotted with picturesque pavilions. The gardens were used for large public entertainments from 1837, such as re-enactments of the eruption of Mount Vesuvius, the Great Fire of London, or the storming of Badajoz, using large painted sets up to 80 feet (24 m) high, and spectacular firework displays, as had become popular at Vauxhall Gardens before its demise. Later, it was used for promenade concerts. The gardens suffered intense competition from the Great Exhibition at the Crystal Palace in 1851.

The Cuming Museum in Walworth Road in Elephant and Castle, within the London Borough of Southwark, London, England, was a museum housing the collection of the Cuming family and later collections on Southwark's history. As of 2020, its collections are due to be rehoused in a new Southwark Heritage Centre.Richard Cuming (1777–1870) started his collecting life when he was only five with some fossils and a coin that had been given to him by a family friend. That ignited a passion for collecting, which lasted for his lifetime. He made his first significant purchases in 1806 at the sale of the Leverian Museum. His interests covered geology, scientific equipment and animalia. The collection was bequeathed to the people of Southwark by his son, Henry Syer Cuming, in 1902, and the museum opened in 1906. As described in Cuming's will, it comprised "My Museum illustrative of Natural History, Archaeology and Ethnology with my coins and medals and... other curios".The museum galleries were moved from the first floor of the Newington Public Library to the building next door, the former Walworth Town Hall, in 2006. On 25 March 2013, that building was seriously damaged by fire, severely affecting the museum galleries but leading to only a very small loss from the collections. Around 98% of objects on display at the time of the fire were recovered and were placed in storage to await a solution to the display of the collections and public access to them. The Cuming and local history collections are due to be re-displayed and stored at a new Southwark Heritage Centre under construction as part of the Lend Lease Elephant Park development at a new site at the north end of Walworth Road - it was due for completion by the end of 2020 but this has been delayed by the COVID-19 pandemic.

Highpoint (also 80 Newington Butts, and previously referred to as 360 London) is a 142-metre, 46-storey, 458-apartment residential tower in Elephant and Castle in the London Borough of Southwark in London on the site of the London Park Hotel.It was the tallest build-to-rent development in the country at the time of construction, and one of London’s tallest residential buildings. On completion in 2018, 343 one and two-bedroom apartments were made available for rent to private tenants. The building features a 24/7 gym, and a "sky lounge" on the 45th floor, with a bar, kitchen and co-working space, accessible by residents only.The building is managed by Canadian real estate manager Realstar Living under its UK brand UNCLE. It is one of 5 properties managed by the company in London. They have another one in Manchester.Under previous plans the privately rented apartments were to be managed by Essential Living. The other 115 units are rented as affordable housing units by the Peabody Trust. A 300-seat flexible theatre space located in the building has been leased to the Southwark Playhouse to become its flagship venue and the location of a purpose built Youth, Community and Development space. The move is scheduled to take place in 2021.The site also features a commercial unit, currently operating as a branch of a healthy-living cafe bar chain of two establishments, called Nue Ground. The Metropolitan Borough of Southwark (Br [ˈsʌðɨk]) was a metropolitan borough in the County of London from 1900 to 1965. It was created to cover the western section of the ancient borough of Southwark and the parish of Newington. In common with the rest of inner London, the borough experienced a steady decline in population throughout its existence. The borough council made an unsuccessful attempt to gain city status in 1955. Its former area is now the northwestern part of the current London Borough of Southwark.

Corsica Studios is a mid-size multi-function music and arts venue located in Elephant and Castle, London. It was founded in 2002 to provide a space for underground music events, exhibitions, performances and other creative projects and now focuses on DJ and club nights. It consists of two rooms situated within railway arches near Elephant & Castle station. and is known for its stripped-back interior, intimate atmosphere and high-quality sound system. Long-running club nights based at the venue include Trouble Vision and Jaded. Many UK and international artists have also played live at the venue, including Sunn O))) and Four Tet, Underground and experimental gig promoter Baba Yaga's Hut also has a long-term base at Corsica Studios.

Manor Place Baths is a former public baths, swimming pool and boxing venue in Manor Place off Walworth Road in Newington, London. The late-19th century Victorian structure, designed by the company of Edward I'Anson, is a grade II listed building. It is a largely symmetrical building, asymmetrically composed from a variety of Arts and Crafts and Flemish Renaissance elements. It was built in red brick in Flemish bond with terracotta dressings, and features a clock tower and a large bathing hall. A plaque in the main stair hall dates the building to 1895. The building was used by the local population for swimming, bathing and doing laundry. The baths had a first- and second-class pool for men, as well as a pool for women known as the "small swim". Mixed-gender swimming was introduced in 1904. The baths also had 74 individual bathing cubicles (most originally only for men), showers and a laundry room. The first-class pool was 120 ft long and boarded over in winter so that the space could be used for sporting events, concerts and other public meetings. In particular, the baths were a popular venue for both amateur and professional boxing. Boxing at the baths started in 1908 and boxers who fought bouts there included the Kray twins as well as Ken Buchanan, Johnny Clark, Henry Cooper, Cornelius Boza-Edwards, Albert Finch, Dick Richardson and Terry Spinks. In total some 230 boxing shows and 1500 bouts were held at the baths.

One The Elephant is a residential apartment development, in Elephant and Castle in the London Borough of Southwark, centred around a 37-storey 124m tall tower. At the base of the tower is an adjoining four-storey L-shaped pavilion containing apartments and commercial units. The development lies immediately adjacent to the Metropolitan Tabernacle and in close proximity to Elephant and Castle tube station a Zone 1 London Underground station. Planning consent was granted in 2012. The then Mayor of London, Boris Johnson, visited the site as construction began in 2013. The development was completed in summer 2016.The development comprises 284 studio, one-bedroom, two-bedroom and three-bedroom apartments with 254 in the tower and 30 in the attached four-storey pavilion.The building is located on the site of a council-owned leisure centre (that featured a swimming pool (closed for many years), a gym, squash courts and a sports hall). The building contains no affordable housing, with the developer Lendlease making a £3m payment in lieu towards the development of adjacent leisure facility, the Castle Centre. Including that payment, the sale of the land and proceeds from an overage deal, Southwark Council received £22m from the One The Elephant development which more than covered the £20m cost of the new leisure centre.

Walworth Town Hall is a municipal building in Walworth Road, Southwark, London. It is a Grade II listed building. It was built for the vestry of the parish of Newington, opening as the Newington Vestry Hall in 1865. When Newington became part of the Metropolitan Borough of Southwark in 1900 the building served as Southwark Town Hall. It ceased to be a headquarters of local government in 1965 when the London Borough of Southwark was created.
