King Park

Rochambeau Statue and Memorial is a monument to French nobleman and General Jean-Baptiste Donatien de Vimeur, comte de Rochambeau, who was a key commander of the French forces who assisted the Continental Army during the American Revolutionary War. The monument is located on the waterfront in King Park, along the southern edge of Newport Harbor, near Brenton Cove and Fort Adams state park and was erected in 1934. This is the 3rd replica of the Rochambeau Statue in Lafayette Park, Washington DC, which was created by renowned French sculptor Fernand Harmar. It was donated by A. Kingsley Macomber. The statue was restored in 2019 by the fundraising efforts of members of the Alliance Française of Newport.

Coronet is a 131' wooden-hull schooner yacht built for oil tycoon Rufus T. Bush in 1885. It is one of the oldest and largest vessels of its type in the world, and one of the last grand sailing yachts of the 19th century extant. After numerous owners and decades of neglect, it underwent an extensive restoration at Newport, Rhode Island's, The International Yacht Restoration School beginning in 2010.

The Museum of Yachting was a not-for-profit organization in Newport, Rhode Island which worked to preserve the culture and heritage of yachting. The Museum was founded in 1979 by John Mecray and a small group of friends and was first housed at Fort Adams. In 2007, the International Yacht Restoration School acquired the museum and, in 2008, relocated its collection to the Edward W. Kane and James Gubelmann Library located in the restored John Mecray Aquidneck Mill Building.The Museum was home to two permanent exhibits: The America’s Cup – The Newport Years, and Coronet: The Long Life and Revival of an Historic American Schooner Yacht, the story of Coronet. It was also home to the American Sailboat Hall of Fame which honored sailboats built-in the United States and the Single-Handed Sailors' Hall of Fame which honored achievements of outstanding solo sailors throughout the world.

IYRS School of Technology & Trades (known as IYRS, from its previous name of the International Yacht Restoration School) is a private nonprofit school with a 3-acre campus on Thames Street in Newport, Rhode Island. IYRS focuses on training highly skilled craftspeople and technicians for careers in a wide range of industries. Currently four accredited programs are offered in Digital Modeling & Fabrication, Composites Technology, Boatbuilding & Restoration, and Marine Systems. The school is planning to introduce additional programs based on the same model. IYRS programs focus on making, building, restoring, and maintaining, using both traditional and modern materials from wood to composites and carbon fiber. Programs are accredited by the ACCSC and qualified applicants are eligible for federal financial aid and veterans' benefits for post-secondary education. In 1993, the marine artist John Mecray, philanthropist Elizabeth Meyer, who restored the J-Class yacht Endeavor, and several others founded the school on a 1-hectare property on the Newport waterfront. Today, the school owns several large buildings, including the 1831 stone Newport Steam Factory building listed on the National Register of Historic Places. From 1995 to 2006 major restoration work on the Coronet took place at the school.

Lime Rock is an island located 600 feet offshore in Newport Harbor, in Narragansett Bay, in the U.S. state of Rhode Island. It was made famous by Ida Lewis, the lighthouse keeper of the tower built on it in 1854 which is now known as Ida Lewis Rock Light. In 1927 the island was sold to a Yacht Club and was connected to Aquidneck Island by a small causeway. A steel tower light was placed in front of the building, which remained an active light until 1963.

The Whitehorne House is an example of a United States Federal style mansions at 416 Thames Street in Newport, Rhode Island and is open to the public as a historic house museum.

The 1937 America's Cup was the 16th challenge for the Cup. It took place in Newport and consisted of a series of races between the defender Ranger, entered Harold S. Vanderbilt, and Endeavour II, the second in Sir Thomas Sopwith's line of Cup challengers. In 1935, Sir Richard Fairey issued a challenge to the New York Yacht Club for the America's Cup. In it, Fairey proposed that the race be held among K-class yachts, smaller than the J-class raced in the previous two competitions. The NYYC declined this challenge, preferring to keep the competition among the J-class.The following year, Sir Thomas Sopwith, the challenger in the 1934 competition issued a new challenge of his own, for J-class yachts. The NYYC accepted this challenge, but since 1936 was an American presidential election year, they opted to hold the races in 1937.Harold S. Vanderbilt who had been central to the NYYC's previous two defenses, attempted to form a syndicate to fund a defense to Sopwith's challenge. However, the poor state of the American economy meant that he could not attract backers, and eventually funded the entire defense himself, investing $400,000 (around $8.5 million in 2022 dollars). His yacht, Ranger was designed by Olin Stephens and Stanley Burgess and built at the Bath Iron Works.Sopwith commissioned Endeavour II from Charles Nicholson and brought her across the Atlantic with Endeavour to conduct tests with different combinations of sails and spars.Because Ranger was the only candidate put forward to defend the Cup, there were no selection trials, but Vanderbilt practised racing the yacht against the J-class Yankee which had been an unsuccessful contender for the defense of the cup in 1930.As in the previous two competitions, the winner was to be the best of seven races. The first three races were uneventful, and Ranger won them easily — the second race by over eighteen minutes. In the fourth race, Vanderbilt maneuvered towards the start buoy in a way that forced Endeavour II to pass the buoy before the starting gun fired. Because of this, Endeavour II had to circle the buoy and begin the race again, having lost 75 seconds in the maneuver. Ranger won this race by three minutes and successfully defended the Cup.

The 1930 America's Cup was the 14th challenge for the Cup. It took place in Newport and consisted of a series of races between the defender Enterprise, entered by a syndicate of New York Yacht Club members headed by Winthrop Aldrich, and Shamrock V, the fifth in Sir Thomas Lipton's line of Cup challengers.

The 1934 America's Cup was the 15th challenge for the Cup. It took place in Newport and consisted of a series of races between the defender Rainbow, entered by a syndicate of New York Yacht Club members headed by Harold S. Vanderbilt, and Endeavour, owned by Sir Thomas Sopwith.

Emmanuel Church is an historic Episcopal church at 42 Dearborn Street in Newport, Rhode Island. The church began as a mission of Newport's Trinity Church in 1841. In 1852, it was admitted into the diocese as Emmanuel Free Church in its own right.The current building was designed by architectural firm Cram, Goodhue & Ferguson in Late Gothic Revival style. It was built between 1900 and 1902, thanks to a donation in memory of John Nicholas Brown I by his widow, Natalie Bayard Brown. Brown donated the reredos and murals in 1921 in honor of Armistice Day. In the early 1930s, E. Power Biggs served as its organist. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1996.

Ida Lewis Lighthouse, which was formerly the Lime Rock Lighthouse, is in the Newport harbor in Rhode Island. It is named after Ida Lewis, who lived and worked at the lighthouse from 1857 and was the official lighthouse keeper from 1879 until her death in 1911. She was celebrated for many acts of bravery in saving lives.

The Francis Malbone House is a historic house at 392 Thames Street in Newport, Rhode Island. The house dates from 1760 and its design is attributed to Peter Harrison, a prominent architect of the period, responsible also for the Touro Synagogue and the Redwood Library, both important early Newport buildings. In 1975 the house was added to the National Register of Historic Places.
