Henry Island (Washington)

Battleship Island is a 3-acre (12,000 m2) island just off the northwest tip of Henry Island, in the San Juan Archipelago. The entire island is a Washington State bird sanctuary. The name is derived from the resemblance that the island and its trees have to a ship with masts, particularly when viewed at a distance from the east or west.

Posey Island State Park is a popular recreation area consisting of 1-acre (0.40 ha) Posey Island in San Juan County, Washington. The island is located .25 miles (0.40 km) north of Pearl Island, near Roche Harbor, San Juan Island. It has about 1,000 feet (300 m) of saltwater shoreline and is part of the Cascadia Marine Trail, with campsites restricted to visitors arriving in non-motorized watercraft. The island-park is managed by the Washington State Parks and Recreation Commission. It became a state park in 1960 under lease from the U.S. Bureau of Land Management.

Pearl Island is one of the San Juan Islands of San Juan County, Washington, United States. Named during the 1841 Wilkes Expedition, it lies off the western shore of San Juan Island, between it and Henry Island. Pearl Island has a land area of 0.151 km² (37.3 acres), only one family lives on this island full time.

Roche Harbor Seaplane Base (IATA: RCE, FAA LID: W39) is a public-use seaplane base located adjacent to Roche Harbor, on San Juan Island in San Juan County, Washington, United States. It is owned by the Roche Harbor Resort.

Guss Island is a small island in the San Juan Islands of the U.S. state of Washington. It lies in Garrison Bay, on the northwestern shore of San Juan Island. The island was named for Guss Hoffmaster, a German storekeeper in the English Camp during the Pig War.Primarily, the park has had relations with the Lummi Indian Business Council. The Lummi believe Guss Island to be their point of origin into this world. [4] As discussed under archaeological resources, several burials were removed from Guss Island in Garrison Bay. In 1985 the park, with assistance from Jim Thomson and Kent Bush of the Pacific Northwest regional office, began negotiating for the return and reinternment of the burials to the Lummi. A Memorandum of Understanding was drafted with the council, calling for the park to provide a 30' x 30' space for the reburials. The Lummi were to provide the container and actually complete the reburial process. The agreement was signed and several remains reburied, although the container delivered to the site was never used and eventually disposed of by the park. Monitoring of remains at the park and relations with the Lummi have more recently been handled by Seattle Support Office anthropologist, Dr. Fred York.

Roche Harbor is a sheltered harbor on the northwest side of San Juan Island in San Juan County, Washington, United States, and the site of a resort of the same name. Roche Harbor faces Haro Strait and the Canada–United States border. The harbor itself provides one of the better protected anchorages in the islands. The harbor is surrounded on the east side by San Juan Island, on the north side by Pearl Island, and on the west and south sides by Henry Island. Most of the harbor is 35 to 45 feet (11 to 14 meters) deep. Roche Harbor has a small airport used primarily by local residents. Roche Harbor is a designated U.S. port of entry. A Customs dock occupies a section of the marina, with Customs and Border Protection agents on duty during summer months. When agents are not on duty, arriving boaters must call Customs and Border Protection from the Customs Dock.

Afterglow Vista (also known as the McMillin Memorial Mausoleum and Afterglow Mausoleum) is a mausoleum located in San Juan County, Washington, United States, near Friday Harbor and Roche Harbor. It is the final resting place of businessman John S. McMillin, his wife and children, and one of the family's employees. The design of the mausoleum incorporates numerous instances of symbolism, some of it Masonic in nature.

Roche Harbor Airport (FAA LID: WA09) is a private airport located one nautical mile (2 km) northeast of the central business district of Roche Harbor, in San Juan County, Washington, United States. It was formerly a public use airport (FAA ID: 9S1). The 9S1 location identifier has been reassigned to Four Winds Airport in Celina, Texas.

The Haro Strait is one of the main channels connecting the Strait of Georgia to the Strait of Juan de Fuca, separating Vancouver Island and the Gulf Islands in British Columbia, Canada from the San Juan Islands of Washington state in the United States. The strait is a critical part of the international boundary between Canada and the United States. It stretches from the western terminus of the 49th parallel segment of that boundary, and was chosen by the arbitrator in the San Juan Islands dispute (Pig War) over the Rosario Strait.

Spieden Island is a privately owned island in the San Juan Archipelago in the U.S. state of Washington. It has a land area of 516.4 acres (209.0 ha) and no permanent resident population as of the 2000 census, although several structures are present on various parts of the island. The island was purchased by James Jannard, founder and major shareholder of Oakley, Inc. in 1997 through a shell company and is still owned by him as of 2019.

Smallpox Bay is a bay on the west side of San Juan Island in the U.S. state of Washington.Smallpox Bay was named for the fact that a group of indigenous victims of the 1862 Pacific Northwest smallpox epidemic died there and their corpses burned by US officers.

Johns Island is one of the San Juan Islands in San Juan County, Washington. It lies just east of Stuart Island and north of Spieden Island. Johns Island is home to Camp Nor'wester, a summer camp for children on the west end of the island, and several dozen private vacation cabins on the east end of the island. It has a land area of 0.9083 km2 (0.3507 sq mi, or 224.45 acres). As with many of the outlying San Juan Islands, Johns Island does not have electricity or plumbing. There was a resident population of five persons as of the 2000 census.
