Kinsman Stable is the nom de course for the American Thoroughbred racing stable of George Steinbrenner, best known as the owner of the New York Yankees Major League Baseball team. A director and former president of the Florida Thoroughbred Breeders' and Owners' Association, Steinbrenner became involved with the sport in the early 1970s and owned the 860-acre (3.5 km2) Kinsman Stud Farm in Ocala, Florida where his Thoroughbreds are stabled. His son Hank and daughter Jessica are both involved in the business. As of 2008, Kinsman Stable has bred and/or raced more than thirty-five stakes winners. In 2005 their colt Bellamy Road won the Wood Memorial Stakes and was then sent off as the betting favorite in the Kentucky Derby but finished seventh to the winner, Giacomo. For 2008, the stable had another Derby prospect in Hopeful Stakes winner, Majestic Warrior.

Rainbow Lakes Estates is an unincorporated community and census-designated place (CDP) in Marion and Levy counties, Florida, United States, established as a Municipal Services District. The Marion County part of the community is part of the Ocala metropolitan area, while the Levy County portion is part of the Gainesville metropolitan area. It was first listed as a CDP for the 2020 census, at which time it had a population of 3,438.The community is northwest of Rainbow Springs, a natural spring in nearby Rainbow Springs State Park. There are various community owned and maintained facilities as well as paved roads. A large percentage of the platted building lots are unimproved.

Rainbow Park is an unincorporated community and census-designated place (CDP) in western Marion County, Florida, United States. It is on the northwest side of Florida State Road 40, 14 miles (23 km) west of Ocala, the county seat, and 10 miles (16 km) northeast of Dunnellon. Rainbow Park was first listed as a CDP for the 2020 census, at which time it had a population of 1,672. It is part of the Ocala, Florida Metropolitan Statistical Area.

Sholom Park is a non-profit privately owned, 44-acre botanical garden in Ocala, Florida. Opened in 2004, the park features over 2 miles of paved trails and more than 250 species of plants and trees.The park features include a formal garden walk, rose garden, prairie area, olive trees, azaleas, labyrinth and a pond with koi. It is handicap-accessible. Sholom Park is named after Sholom, the grandfather of local developer Sidney Colen, who founded the Park as a gift to all people seeking Peace. Sholom/Shalom also means peace in Hebrew. Areas can be rented for weddings and events.

West Port High School is an American high school in Ocala, Florida and one of eight public high schools in Marion County. Founded in 2000 and constructed at 3733 SW 80th Avenue, West Port is the district high school for West Ocala. The campus formerly housed both West Port Middle and High Schools. The middle school relocated in 2008, after Liberty Middle School was built. As of the 2019–2020 school year, there were about 2,681 students attending West Port High School, making it the largest school, by population, in the district. West Port also has the largest campus by area.

Ocala Estates is an unincorporated community and census-designated place (CDP) in western Marion County, Florida, United States. It is 11 miles (18 km) west of Ocala, the county seat. Ocala Estates was first listed as a CDP for the 2020 census, at which time it had a population of 2,991.

WXUS (102.3 FM) is a commercial radio station licensed to Dunnellon, Florida, and broadcasting to the Ocala media market. It is owned by JVC Broadcasting and airs a radio format combining country music and Southern-influenced classic rock. WXUS's transmitter is off West Highway 328 in Dunnellon.

Camp Izard, also written as Camp Izzard, was a fortification of the U.S. Army built along the Withlacoochee River (Ouithlacoochee) during the Seminole Wars. It is about 20 miles southwest of Ocala and had a cemetery. The site is now part of the Florida Seminole Wars Heritage Trail. It was named for Lieutenant James F. Izard after he was killed in combat with the Seminoles in the area February 1836.In 1897, an annual picnic was reportedly held in the Camp Izard area. The Camp Izzard Boat Ramp is in the area.

Hálpata Tastanaki Preserve is located in Marion County, Florida and is part of the Southwest Florida Water Management District. It is 8,146 acres (32.97 km2) and located at 15430 SW CR 484 in Dunnellon. Various sports and recreation opportunities are offered by the park including hiking, fishing, biking, horseback riding and picnicking.A variety of plant communities occur on the property, including floodplain swamp and oak scrub along the Withlacoochee River and longleaf pine turkey oak sandhills occurring in upland areas. Recovering stands of oak scrub scattered amid the sandhill support the threatened Florida scrub-jay. In addition to natural resources, the property supported a rich historical past. The preserve is named after Seminole leader Hálpata Tastanaki (Chief Alligator) who, along with Osceola, Jumper and approximately 1,000 warriors, took part in the largest battle of the Second Seminole Indian War in 1836. Included within the property is the site of the community of Stockton, established shortly after the conclusion of the Second Seminole Indian War. Public ownership of the property provides for the long-term protection and enhancement of floodplain forests along the Withlacoochee River, isolated wetland systems and extensive upland areas with high rates of aquifer recharge.

Ross Prairie State Forest is a 3,527-acre state forest in Marion County, Florida. The conservation land was acquired in 1995 through the Conservation and Recreation Lands (CARL) with funds from the Preservation 2000 Act. It includes hiking and horseback trails. There is also a trailhead for the Cross Florida Greenway.
