Biebrich Palace (German: Schloss Biebrich) is a Baroque residence (Schloss) in the borough of Biebrich in the city of Wiesbaden, Hesse, Germany. Built in 1702 by Prince Georg August Samuel of Nassau-Idstein, it served as the ducal residence for the independent Duchy of Nassau from 1816 until 1866.

Biebrich is a borough of the city of Wiesbaden, Hesse, Germany. With over 38,000 inhabitants, it is the most-populated of Wiesbaden's boroughs. It is located south of the city center on the Rhine River, opposite the Mainz borough of Mombach. Biebrich was an independent city until it was incorporated into Wiesbaden in 1926.

The Rettbergsaue (translated from German as “Rettberg Island”) is a natural island in the Rhine River at Wiesbaden, Germany. It is situated between the main channel of the Rhine to the north and a smaller channel, the Wachsbleicharm, in the south. The Wachsbleicharm forms the border between the federal states of Hesse (of which Wiesbaden is the capital) and Rhineland-Palatinate. The island is about 3,100 meters (10,200 ft) long and up to 400 m (1,300 ft) wide. Covering about 68 hectares (170 acres), it is one of the largest islands on the Rhine in which the river flows unhindered on both sides. The island is for the most part covered with trees and has a rich bird and plant life. Approximately 90% of the island is protected, with the remainder used for recreational and agricultural purposes.Bundesautobahn 643 crosses the Rhine via the Rettbergsaue on the Schierstein Bridge. Although there is a sidewalk on both sides of the road on the bridge, only the sidewalk on the east side has stairs to access the island. The majority of the island, lying opposite Biebrich Castle, is within the borough of Wiesbaden-Biebrich. The part west of the Schierstein Bridge is part of Wiesbaden-Schierstein.

Salzbach (in its upper course: Rambach) is a stream in the city of Wiesbaden, in the state of Hesse, Germany. It is a tributary of the Rhine.

Thee Ingelheimer Aue is a previous Rhine island, located on the left bank of the river by the city of Mainz, between 500 and 503,5 km from the river mouth. It forms the northernmost point of the city division Mainz-Neustadt and is used for commercial purposes.

Mainz-Mombach station is one of two railway stations in the suburb of Mombach of the German town of Mainz. Due to its central location it is the primary station of the suburb besides the halt “Waggonfabrik”. The station is a part of the West Rhine Railway and borders the Wye: Gleisdreieck Mainz, leading to the Kaiserbrücke (Mainz) and the main station Mainz. It is served by Mittelrheinbahn electrified standard gauge trains. Long-distance trains call at the central station, Mainz Hauptbahnhof. Six rail tracks run into the train station with a central island platform. Due to the geography of the village, the station is entered on street level, one level below the elevated platform, with trains entering on the embankment. A tiled passenger tunnel leads to the platform. The goods station is located nearby as an independent facility not directly connected with the passenger station. The goods station lost its role as a hub, when the local goods function was drastically reduced. The goods sheds are still used for storing goods as depots of road freight companies that replaced the railway.

Mainz-Amöneburg is a district administered by the city of Wiesbaden, Germany. Its population is 1,743 (2020). Mainz-Amöneburg was formerly a district of the city of Mainz, until the public administration by the city of Wiesbaden was decided on August 10, 1945. The reason for this had been the easy control of the Allied Occupation Zones in Germany, where the Rhine formed the border between the American sector and the French sector. Mainz-Amöneburg faces the city of Mainz on the opposite shore of the Rhine river. The former border between the Grand Duchy of Hesse and the Prussian Province of Hesse-Nassau lay between Amöneburg and Biebrich until 1945. Two companies which were at first independent, but which later belonged to the same company, Hoechst AG, had been located in Amöneburg (Chemische Werke Albert) and Biebrich (Chemische Fabrik Kalle), one on each side of the border. Recent mergers, acquisitions and transitions took place. Now, the industrial site InfraServ Wiesbaden runs the infrastructure.

The Catholic Herz-Jesu-Kirche (Church of the Sacred Heart) is a Neo-Gothic hall church located in the borough Mombach of the German city of Mainz. It is dedicated to the Sacred Heart. The church calendar of 1911 says: The name "Sacred Heart Church" originated from the idea to honour the memory of the great social bishop von Ketteler, who throughout his life was a pious and zealous admirer of the Sacred Heart, in his hundredth year of birth.

Wiesbaden Ost (east) station is situated on the Frankfurt–Wiesbaden line (line number 3603; timetable section 645.1) in the German state of Hesse. It was opened as part of the Taunus Railway, which was opened in 1839/40. The station was opened as part of the last stage of construction of the line to Wiesbaden and was opened on 19 May 1840.

The Schierstein Bridge (German: Schiersteiner Brücke) is 1,282-meter (4,206 ft) long, four-lane highway bridge in Germany. It carries Bundesautobahn 643 over the Rhine River between Mainz-Mombach, Rhineland-Palatinate and Wiesbaden-Schierstein, Hesse (Rhine kilometrage 504.45). Crossing two arms of the Rhine and the intervening island of Rettbergsaue, the bridge is made of six individual structures, including 100 m (330 ft) from prestressed concrete. It was built between 1959 and 1962. The Schierstein Bridge is located about 5.8 km (3.6 mi) downstream of the Theodor Heuss Bridge. Together with the Theodor Heuss Bridge and the A 60 bridge, it is one of three road bridges across the Rhine at Mainz. It is the last bridge over the Middle Rhine for 80 kilometers (50 mi) downstream, before the Südbrücke in Koblenz. From mid-February to mid-April 2015 the bridge was closed from all traffic due to extensive structural damage.

Mainz Nord station (German: Haltepunkt Mainz Nord) is a railway station in the municipality of Mainz, Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany. It is adjacent to Schott AG, Römheld & Moelle and Werner & Mertz.

The Salzbach valley bridge (German: Salzbachtalbrücke) was a pair of parallel bridges located south of Wiesbaden, the capital of the state of Hessen, in Germany. The bridges were built from prestressed concrete to carry the main Bundesautobahn 66 road route over the Salzbach stream, the Mainzer Straße and Bundesautobahn 671, plus the main rail tracks approaching Wiesbaden Hauptbahnhof station. Both bridges were declared unsafe during mid-2021, disrupting regional road traffic, and diverting all rail services to stop at Wiesbaden Ost station outside of the city centre. A controlled demolition of both bridges took place on 6 November 2021 at 12 noon.Following the demolition, the initial focus was planned to clear the rubble across the five removed railway tracks and to enable re-opening of rail access to the city, and road access to the Bundesautobahn 671 southwards. The Bundesautobahn 66, previously carried over the bridges, would remain interrupted. The first replacement bridge was projected to be opened in 2023, with foundations and some structural parts already having been manufactured.
