The canton of Ferney-Voltaire is a former administrative division in eastern France. It was disbanded following the French canton reorganisation which came into effect in March 2015. It had 40,677 inhabitants (2012).The canton comprised 8 communes:

Ferney-Voltaire (French pronunciation: ​[fɛʁnɛ vɔltɛʁ]) is a commune in the Ain department in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region of eastern France. It lies between the Jura Mountains and the Swiss border; it forms part of the metropolitan area of Geneva.

Ornex (French pronunciation: ​[ɔʁnɛ]; Arpitan: Ornèx) is a commune in the Ain department in eastern France.

Lycée international de Ferney-Voltaire is a public secondary school in Ferney-Voltaire, Ain, Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes, France. The school serves junior high school (collège) and senior high school/sixth form college (lycée) students. It has a branch campus in Saint-Genis-Pouilly.The school has British, Dutch, German, Italian, Spanish, and Swedish sections. In addition to Ferney-Voltaire and Saint-Genis-Pouilly, it serves Prévessin-Moëns.As of 2018 it had about 1,000 junior high students and 1,655 senior high/sixth-form students, making a total of about 2,655 students.

Collex-Bossy is a municipality of the Canton of Geneva, Switzerland.

The LHCb (Large Hadron Collider beauty) experiment is one of eight particle physics detector experiments collecting data at the Large Hadron Collider at CERN. LHCb is a specialized b-physics experiment, designed primarily to measure the parameters of CP violation in the interactions of b-hadrons (heavy particles containing a bottom quark). Such studies can help to explain the matter-antimatter asymmetry of the Universe. The detector is also able to perform measurements of production cross sections, exotic hadron spectroscopy, charm physics and electroweak physics in the forward region. The LHCb collaboration, who built, operate and analyse data from the experiment, is composed of approximately 1260 people from 74 scientific institutes, representing 16 countries. Chris Parkes succeeded on July 1, 2020 as spokesperson for the collaboration to Giovanni Passaleva (spokesperson 2017-2020). The experiment is located at point 8 on the LHC tunnel close to Ferney-Voltaire, France just over the border from Geneva. The (small) MoEDAL experiment shares the same cavern.

Geneva Airport (IATA: GVA, ICAO: LSGG), formerly and still unofficially known as Cointrin Airport, is the international airport of Geneva, the second most populous city in Switzerland. It is located 4 km (2.5 mi) northwest of the city centre. It surpassed the 15 million passengers mark for the first time in December 2014. The airport serves as a hub for Swiss International Air Lines and easyJet Switzerland. It features a route network of flights mainly to European metropolitan and leisure destinations as well as some long-haul routes to North America, China and the Middle East, amongst them Swiss International Air Lines' only long-haul service (to New York–JFK) outside of Zürich. The airport lies entirely within Swiss territory, however, its northern limit runs along the Swiss–French border and the airport can be accessed from both countries. The freight operations are also accessible from both countries, making Geneva a European Union freight hub although Switzerland is not a member of the EU. The airport is partially in the municipality of Meyrin and partially in the municipality of Le Grand-Saconnex.

On 24 July 1987, Air Afrique Flight 056, a McDonnell Douglas DC-10-30 operating the Brazzaville–Bangui–Rome–Paris service was hijacked and diverted to Geneva Airport. One passenger was killed and 30 people were injured.

Prévessin-Moëns is a commune in the Ain department in eastern France, in the region of Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes. The residents of Prévessin-Moëns are known as Prévessinois or Prévessinoises (feminine).

SEG Geneva Arena (commonly known as the Geneva Arena, Genf Arena, French: Arena de Genève) is an indoor arena in Geneva, Switzerland. Part of the Palexpo complex, it opened in 1995, and it currently holds 9,500 spectators and hosts concerts and indoor sporting events, such as tennis and basketball.

Geneva Airport railway station (French: Gare de Genève-Aéroport) is a train station located underground next to the terminal building of Geneva International Airport (French: Aéroport international de Genève) (IATA code: GVA), in Grand-Saconnex, Geneva, Switzerland. It is located at the end of the standard gauge Lausanne–Geneva line of Swiss Federal Railways.The station is 250 metres away from the airport terminal via a covered walkway, and very close to the Palexpo fairground.

Palexpo is a convention center in Geneva, Switzerland. The buildings are owned by the canton of Geneva while the company is a semi-private foundation. The center is located close to Geneva International Airport. There are seven halls, and 102,000 square metres of exhibition space. The Geneva Motor Show is held at Palexpo.
