Geneva Airport (IATA: GVA, ICAO: LSGG), formerly and still unofficially known as Cointrin Airport, is the international airport of Geneva, the second most populous city in Switzerland. It is located 4 km (2.5 mi) northwest of the city centre. It surpassed the 15 million passengers mark for the first time in December 2014. The airport serves as a hub for Swiss International Air Lines and easyJet Switzerland. It features a route network of flights mainly to European metropolitan and leisure destinations as well as some long-haul routes to North America, China and the Middle East, amongst them Swiss International Air Lines' only long-haul service (to New York–JFK) outside of Zürich. The airport lies entirely within Swiss territory, however, its northern limit runs along the Swiss–French border and the airport can be accessed from both countries. The freight operations are also accessible from both countries, making Geneva a European Union freight hub although Switzerland is not a member of the EU. The airport is partially in the municipality of Meyrin and partially in the municipality of Le Grand-Saconnex.

SEG Geneva Arena (commonly known as the Geneva Arena, Genf Arena, French: Arena de Genève) is an indoor arena in Geneva, Switzerland. Part of the Palexpo complex, it opened in 1995, and it currently holds 9,500 spectators and hosts concerts and indoor sporting events, such as tennis and basketball.

Geneva Airport railway station (French: Gare de Genève-Aéroport) is a train station located underground next to the terminal building of Geneva International Airport (French: Aéroport international de Genève) (IATA code: GVA), in Grand-Saconnex, Geneva, Switzerland. It is located at the end of the standard gauge Lausanne–Geneva line of Swiss Federal Railways.The station is 250 metres away from the airport terminal via a covered walkway, and very close to the Palexpo fairground.

The United Nations Office on Sport for Development and Peace (UNOSDP) was introduced by Kofi Annan in 2001. Its mandate was to coordinate the efforts undertaken by the United Nations in promoting sport in a systematic and coherent way as a means to contribute to the achievement of development and peace. The second UN Special Adviser on Sport for Development and Peace was Wilfried Lemke from Bremen, Germany. He succeeded Adolf Ogi in March 2008. UNOSDP was situated at the UN Office at Geneva. There was also a liaison office at UN Headquarters in New York. The United Nations announced the closure of the Office on Sport for Development and Peace on 4 May 2017.

Le Grand-Saconnex (French pronunciation: ​[lə ɡʁɑ̃ sakɔnɛ]) is a municipality of the Canton of Geneva, Switzerland. Several international organizations and permanent missions to the United Nations are located in Grand Saconnex. Consequently, the population of Grand Saconnex is quite cosmopolitan one of the most diverse in Switzerland, with nearly 40% of the population being born outside of Switzerland.Geneva International Airport is partially within the borders of Le Grand-Saconnex.

Palexpo is a convention center in Geneva, Switzerland. The buildings are owned by the canton of Geneva while the company is a semi-private foundation. The center is located close to Geneva International Airport. There are seven halls, and 102,000 square metres of exhibition space. The Geneva Motor Show is held at Palexpo.

The LHCb (Large Hadron Collider beauty) experiment is one of eight particle physics detector experiments collecting data at the Large Hadron Collider at CERN. LHCb is a specialized b-physics experiment, designed primarily to measure the parameters of CP violation in the interactions of b-hadrons (heavy particles containing a bottom quark). Such studies can help to explain the matter-antimatter asymmetry of the Universe. The detector is also able to perform measurements of production cross sections, exotic hadron spectroscopy, charm physics and electroweak physics in the forward region. The LHCb collaboration, who built, operate and analyse data from the experiment, is composed of approximately 1260 people from 74 scientific institutes, representing 16 countries. Chris Parkes succeeded on July 1, 2020 as spokesperson for the collaboration to Giovanni Passaleva (spokesperson 2017-2020). The experiment is located at point 8 on the LHC tunnel close to Ferney-Voltaire, France just over the border from Geneva. The (small) MoEDAL experiment shares the same cavern.

The Geneva International Motor Show is an annual auto show held in March in the Swiss city of Geneva. The show is hosted at the Palexpo, a convention centre located next to the Geneva Cointrin International Airport. The Salon is organised by the Organisation Internationale des Constructeurs d'Automobiles, and is considered an important major international auto show.First held in 1905, the Salon has hosted almost all major internal combustion engined models in the history of the automobile, along with benzene- and steam-powered cars from the beginning of the century. Exotic supercars often steal the spotlight during their debuts at the show. Prototypes, new equipment, technical breakthroughs, international partnerships, as well as political and social debates, have been announced at the exhibition. The show is regarded as a level playing field for the world's automakers, aided by the fact Switzerland lacks an auto industry of its own.

The International Institute in Geneva (IIG) -- formerly known as International University in Geneva - IUN or IUG), founded in 1997, is a private business school in Geneva, Switzerland. The business school is located in the International Centre Cointrin, next to Geneva Airport.

Ferney-Voltaire (French pronunciation: ​[fɛʁnɛ vɔltɛʁ]) is a commune in the Ain department in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region of eastern France. It lies between the Jura Mountains and the Swiss border; it forms part of the metropolitan area of Geneva.

The canton of Ferney-Voltaire is a former administrative division in eastern France. It was disbanded following the French canton reorganisation which came into effect in March 2015. It had 40,677 inhabitants (2012).The canton comprised 8 communes:

The Geneva Mosque, also known as the Petit-Saconnex Mosque (French: Mosquée de Genève, Mosquée de Petit-Sacconex) is the largest mosque in Geneva, Switzerland. It was financed by the Saudi-based Muslim World League and constructed in 1978 in the neighborhood of Le Petit-Saconnex.The mosque was inaugurated by the Saudi Arabian King Khalid ibn Abd al-Aziz and President of the Swiss Confederation Willi Ritschard, and is the largest mosque in the city and Switzerland as a whole. The building has space for 1,500 worshippers. It is managed by the Islamic Cultural Foundation of Geneva and the imam of the mosque is Yahya Basalamah. In November 2017, the secretary general of the Muslim World League Muhammad bin Abdul Karim Issa said that he will constitute a new board of the Islamic Cultural Foundation of Geneva and that two mosque employees, who have been placed by French officials on an anti-terrorism backlist known as “Fiche S” since at least 2012, will be removed from their posts. He said he had ambitions for the Geneva mosque to become a model of dialogue and integration otherwise the MWL would consider withdrawing all support to the mosque.
