Whaley Lake is located in the town of Pawling in southeastern Dutchess County in New York State, United States. It is the largest lake in Dutchess County. The lake is partially man-made as it is controlled by a dam at its northern end. The lake feeds into the Fishkill Creek which empties into the Hudson River at Beacon, New York. The lake is accessible via New York State Route 292, which runs along the south and west sides of the lake. The eastern shore of Whaley Lake is bordered by Metro-North Railroad's unused Beacon Line, and the Maybrook Trailway, which is a part of the Empire State Trail.

WDBY (105.5 FM, "The Wolf") is an American country music radio station licensed to Patterson, New York. The station serves the eastern Hudson Valley and Greater Danbury, Connecticut listening areas. The station is owned by Townsquare Media and broadcasts from a tower located in Patterson, New York near the Putnam/Dutchess county line. WDBY also operates a booster, WDBY-FM1 in Brookfield, Connecticut, which broadcasts with 1.2 kilowatts. Though it is the only FM station in Putnam County, WDBY's primary target market has historically been Danbury, Connecticut. Even though the hills in and around Danbury limits the main 105.5 signal, the Brookfield booster has the ability to cover the primary coverage area. WDBY also targets eastern Putnam County as well as southern Dutchess County, where it regularly rates in the Poughkeepsie market. Due to its tower height, WDBY's signal covers most of the Route 22/I-684 corridor. The WDBY studios and offices are located on Federal Road (U.S. Route 202) in Brookfield.

Ludingtonville is a hamlet in the town of Kent, Putnam County, New York, United States. It is named for early settler Henry Ludington from Connecticut. The building of Interstate 84 in New York resulted in the demolition of much of the historic center to build Exit 17 at Ludingtonville Road, which Ludington Mill survived until a fire burnt it down in 1972--mere months before Putnam's historical society was to restore it. Today Kent Historic Society has made restoring Ludington's mill its project.

Green Haven Correctional Facility is a maximum security prison in New York. The prison is located in the Town of Beekman in Dutchess County. The New York State Department of Corrections and Community Supervision lists the address as Route 216, Stormville, NY 12582. This prison housed New York's execution chamber during the time the state briefly had the death penalty (but never used it) in the post-Furman era. It was originally a federal prison and now houses maximum security inmates. Green Haven Correctional Facility also operated a Hot Kosher Foods Program; but no longer does as of 2020. However, because of this, the prison had a large Jewish population. Yale Law School operates the Green Haven Prison Project, a series of seminars among Yale law students and Green Haven inmates on law and policy issues concerning prisons and criminal law.

Wonder Lake State Park is a 1,145-acre (4.6 km2) Putnam County state park located in Patterson, New York.

Murphy Grist Mill, also known as the Old Mill, is a historic grist mill located at Poughquag, Dutchess County, New York. It was built in 1889, and is a two-story, front-gabled, vernacular frame building with a stone and concrete foundation. It has a one-story, hipped roof porch supported by simple contemporary posts. Also on the property are the contributing ruins of a stone mill dam. During his 1909 campaign for New York State Senate, Franklin Delano Roosevelt gave a political speech from the porch of the mill building. The mill remained in use until about 1940. Franklin Delano Roosevelt Jr. purchased the property in 1949 and the mill was used primarily for storage. During the mid-1980s, it was given to the Town of Beekman and restoration began in 2014.It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 2015 by local non-profit Youth for Restoration.

Beekman is a town in Dutchess County, New York, United States. It is part of the Poughkeepsie–Newburgh–Middletown, NY Metropolitan Statistical Area as well as the larger New York–Newark–Bridgeport, NY-NJ-CT-PA Combined Statistical Area. The population was 14,172 at the 2020 census. The town was named after Henry Beekman, a 17th-century land owner.

Pawling station is a commuter rail stop on the Metro-North Railroad's Harlem Line, located in Pawling, New York. Trains leave for New York City every two hours, and about every 30 minutes during rush hour. It is 63.8 miles (102.7 km) from Grand Central Terminal and travel time to Grand Central is approximately one hour, 48 minutes. The station is located in the Zone 8 Metro-North fare zone. It is the southernmost station in Dutchess County on the Harlem Line.

Pawling is a town in Dutchess County, New York, United States. Its population was 8,012 at the 2020 census. The town is named after Catherine Pauling, the daughter of Henry Beekman, who held the second largest land patent in the county. A misprint caused the U to change to a W and the name stuck. The town is in the southeastern part of the county, and contains a village of the same name.

Stormville Airport (FAA LID: N69) was a public airport located one mile (2 km) northeast of the central business district (CBD) of Stormville, a hamlet located within the Town of East Fishkill in Dutchess County, New York, USA. This general aviation airport covered 155 acres (63 ha) and had one runway. It is no longer used as an airport, even though FAA sectional charts and NOTAMS do not yet indicate that it has closed. It now hosts the Stormville Flea Market several times a year. Stormville was a privately owned, public use airport. Pete and Rose O'Brien ran the airport until their retirement. The current owner is their daughter Patricia Carnahan. There are no services for aircraft and no aircraft based there. Airport facilities such as runways, taxiways, wind sock, and pavement markings are in poor condition.

The Church of St. John the Evangelist is a Roman Catholic parish church under the authority of the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of New York, located in Pawling, Dutchess County, New York. It was established as a mission of Immaculate Conception Church of Amenia in 1869, and elevated to parish status in 1885.

Pawling is a village in Dutchess County, New York, United States. The population was 2,347 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Poughkeepsie–Newburgh–Middletown, NY Metropolitan Statistical Area as well as the larger New York–Newark–Bridgeport, NY-NJ-CT-PA Combined Statistical Area. The John Kane House, a registered historic place, is situated in the village. The village was portrayed as the fictional town of Denning, New York, in the TV series Elementary. The village of Pawling is centrally located in the town of Pawling by the junction of Routes 22 and 55.
